I'll never forget my first coaster. It was the old mine ride, thunder express, at dollywood. I was only 8 or 9, and I was terrified of rollercoasters, so my dad tricked me into thinking that it was a water ride so I would ride it. Halfway through the lift, i realized there wasn't any water and started to panic, but dad told me it was going to be ok. Once we started, it was great! I've loved rollercoasters ever since.

I was 4 or 5 and rode The Beastie at Kings Island.
thunder mountain at disney world, oh yeah!
River King Mine Train at Six Flags St. Louis. Then I went on the Screamin' Eagle (a great out-and back woodie) and fell in love with coasters. However, it wasn't until we moved to Cleveland and went to CP that I got some SERIOUS coaster riding. NOTHING comes close to Cedar Point!

Raptor Rides-363

My first coaster had to be the Beastie at Paramounts Kings Island I believe I was only 5 at the time. When I moved up I remember riding the Beast but was afraid of Riding Vortex which now compared to riding Millennium Force, Vortex is wimpy. I rememer riding the Beast, but it took me a while to ride the Vortex for some reason It just looked huge to me. I forget how old I was. I finally rode it and broke my fear. My first real coaster was Magnum XL 200. I remember I was still pretty young like 10 or something when I conqured it and now I will ride everything. Now that we have Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster, it makes me wonder why I was afraid of Vortex which is 100 something feet tall....lol.

Skyliner at Roseland in Canandaigua, NY. The park has been gone for some 20 years now, but thanks to RCDB I found that the Skyliner was bought and rebuilt in Altoona, PA at Lakemont Park. A road trip may be in order...

ROUNDABOUND.

Does anyone remember the Bavarian Beetle at Kings Island? I think that may have been my first, but my first "big one" was the Racer at Kings Island. I found it very scary as a little feller.

Back to the Bavarian Beetle: It seemed similar to the Wildcat. However, the unnerving part was that it had NEITHER SEAT BELTS NOR A LAP RESTRAINT. That was really freaky, especially for a kid.

But hey, with no restraints, there was NO ONE INCH OF SLACK RULE!!!
Those were the days. But then again, oh never mind.

Don't recall anyone flying out. Does anyone remember if they ever put restraints on that thing before removing it? *** Edited 7/1/2004 8:01:39 AM UTC by meanspirit(not really)***

Well, the first two I can remember were Iron Dragon and Corkscrew. I don't remember which was first, but I remember being terrifyed of going upside down!

My family took me when I was little, so I am sure that I rode Jr. Gemini, and just don't remember, unless i was scared of that, too! :)

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!
