Fence now around Town Hall

Late to the party (but at least I'm not "late"!), but last time I was up there I noticed that the entire Town Hall building had been cleared. That means the First Aid office (long gone) but also the food joints, Engine House and Los Gatos, all closed.

That suggests to me that anything they put in there (and construction already in progress kind of screams "haunt") could be quite large, as the entire building is available.

I was up there this week and it remains status quo. I usually stop by the Guest Services “booth” for a quick visit. There’s a young man there who’s pleasant to talk to and I said to him “Pssst… let’s hop the fence and check it out, want to?” He laughed and said “I’d love to, because there’s no info at all. They’re saying nothing, not even to us”

I went around the corner and noticed that, as Dave reports, the entire row of store fronts and windows was empty. Which seems weird to me- Frontier Town still has plenty of walk-up wagon locations for food, snacks, and alcohol and they’re all still there. Which tells me that if the space wasn’t already earmarked for something they’d be selling Beaver Tails or whatever out of there.

Another thing is that space around there is really beginning to add up, if you include that area plus what was left behind by SRF. I don’t know if a large coaster would be just what the doctor ordered but maybe a different water ride or something.

Maybe I’m wrong but hasn’t the Haunt attractions and mazes for 2025 been announced already? And if so it could be for 2026 but one of my pet peeves is coming across dead space or a closed building in an amusement park that’s only used for a haunted attraction and sits idle the rest of the time. I think of the old Frontier Carousel building that’s used for a maze and that’s it. Ok, maybe storage. But wouldn’t that be a good location for a spinning barrels ride or something like that?

You are correct in that they have announced the 2025 Haunt attractions. One that is missing from the page is Boo Hill over by the vacant Chickie & Petes. I think that's a potential location for the Conjuring. I'm not certain if the Town Hall building and those nearby food buildings are connected without exiting the structure.

Everything is connected if you smash out enough hole. The new town hall haunt will be of the highest terror when you round the corner to find you are stuck working the food stall for the rest of the night.

I noticed last night that the the Boo Hill facade is up, so I'm hopeful it will be open.
That was always one of my favorites too. Loved taking the nephews through it when they were younger.

You're not alone. With Chickie and Pete's gone (and apparently they removed the Pirate Ride!) that whole area in front of Blue Streak is just a dead-zone.

I'm such a nerd. Such. A. Nerd. But when I used to play RCT2 I would always enclose a scrambler ride in a barn-like structure and call it the Hay Bailer. I always thought that would be fun use (or your barrel suggestion) of that now permanent haunt structure.

Town Hall sitting there vacant has just been an abomination. Store your crap somewhere else, and at least open it up as a place to cool off, sit down, talk to Ken, etc. At least it appears to be on its way back....in some form.

The last few seasons has really upped the number of closed buildings that used to be accessible to guests. Town Hall is one of the most apparent but in Frontier Town alone there are the buildings for Wagon Wheel Pizza, Round-Up, and Cedar Creek Trading Company. On Frontier Trail the Wild Turnip building does get used during HalloWeekends even if it is closed the rest of the time. The Grist Mill has been closed this season. Fort Sandusky hasn't contained shop for a long time and at least two of the cabins haven't been used for anything in a while either.

I'm not sure if it's the kind of thing most guests notice or care that much about but it subtly adds up during a visit that there aren't as many things available as there used to be.

I used to enjoy conversations with Ken as well Kevin, but, he no longer works at the point.

Cedar Creek Trading is now an indoor dining area for associates.

In addition to the fence around Town Hall there is now double-wide behind it near Skyhawk entrance. Could it be an upcharge overnight lodging option?

The trailer is an interesting development.

Looks like a contractor trailer, typically used for field offices and meetings on a construction site. Perhaps work is about to start on something new?

Today the fence is extended past the back of the double-wide thus blocking the view out the windows of the well maintained lagoon. I'm thinking (a dangerous undertaking) that if indeed Town Hall is the area for "The Conjuring" haunt, this is part of that whole production.

Someone on reddit said they used to use Town Hall as makeup or something for scare actors. Since thats now being used as an actual haunt I wonder if thats what these trailers are for

Yea I would hit the pause button on thinking this has anything to do with any type of construction project. It reminds me of the buildings schools put up outside their main buildings when there is overflow and they need to build emergency classrooms.

I have zero idea what Town Hall is being used for, but this looks like a place for Haunt actors to get their faces put on.

Yeah jobsite trailers are typically not of the double wide variety. My money would be on it being used for Halloweekends screamsters.

You can use double wides for construction for sure (Hell they'll put dozens together on really big projects). But I dont know I've ever seen CP use a trailer set up like this for a construction project.

Vince982's avatar

Yeah for sure but if they needed a site trailer for whatever they may or may not build in this area I doubt they'd opt for a large one. I should have said it likely wouldn't be of the double wide variety for a project of whatever scale may go in this area.

Probably a good chance of the trailer being used for a costume/make-up room. I only suggested for possible construction, given I see multiple wide trailers on jobsites with my line of work. Sometimes a doublewide is used on smaller jobs, and shared by several contractors on site.
