Favorite Night Light Ride

I have to give the award to MF.

maXair is one hell of a ride at night too. Soaring head-first towards the ground with people looking up at you...CP thrills at their best.

When Magnum first opened it had the best lights. Does anyone have any pics?

MF's lights just aren't as bright and impressive as they used to be. :sigh:

Lighting is one thing the park simply isn't good at maintaining. Their good at putting it in, but not at maintaining...
-Moving yoke fixtures and color scrollers by the midway games
-LED lights on the midway games
-Millennium's lights
-Power Tower's lights
-TTD's lights
-Raptor's strobe lights (up until last year when the fixed them)
-WT seems to be looking quite a bit darker this year

Anything that's more than a flourescent, metal halide, or a sodium pressure bulb is just too much for them to handle.

I disagree, DBCP. Though I only visit 2 or 3 times a year (3 day stays each time), The lighting has been excelllent, viewed from Lighthouse Point. Of course.

Let's start a petition to get Millennium looking as her debut in 2000. I will never forget the first time I seen her at night I was on the Raptor at the top before we dropped and I was in awww. I couldn't wait for my first night ride! But back on topic...

Millennium! No questions asked! (Strobe theme);)

The lighting of what?

-Millennium's lights are definitely on their way down. They might all be lit, but they're no longer in their programs.
-The lights by the midways games added last year were in bad shape by the end of last year! They've done some work, but they're not like they should be.
-Everybody knows about Power Tower's lights. They've gotten better, but there's definitely still room for improvement.
-Top Thrill Dragster lost its tower lights, for whatever reason and the "tree" lights on the tower itself are quickly falling apart. And has anyone else noticed how they've never even used these lights: http://www.pointpixels.com/Album2/TopThrillDragster/ttd03-46.html

Mean Streak, DBCP.

Mean Streak uses pressure sodium, and metal halide bulbs... as I mentioned before, they have no trouble with those... :)

I wish they had lights following the entire track perhaps underneath so you can see where you're going. On the Millenium, that is.

:(

The fun thing about MilleNNium Force at night is you can't see where you're going. (^Two N's in Millennium...)

Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~

Once you ride MF a few times you know where you are going.

A good test for this is to close your eyes and your body will give with the turns. Pretty neat. I know a geek thing.

101 on Magnum and counting...

I know, but it's still a different experience. I fail to see the point of riding the ride at night for something different only to find out there are spotlights lining the whole thing.

I <3 how in the drop it looks like the train will dive into a black hole.

Millie has the best lights hands down, but riding it at night is difficult for me because of all the bugs you hit. Not quite as bad as Mean Streak though. I think the best ride to ride at night is the Giant Wheel. It's a nice way to relax with my fiance after a long day and see the park all lit up and the boats out on Lake Erie. Plus the lights aren't that bad for the giant wheel and you get to wear a pointless seatbelt which would do nothing if the car came loose.

Ohh.. the memories of a couple of very, very, cold rides on the Giant Wheel during HalloWeekends.... :)

Hmmm...Interesting because I never seem to be cold on that ride at night, even during HalloWeekends. Maybe because I have the right riding partner. ;)

LOL. Or maybe too because you haven't gone on the right days. In 2004 one weekend day, the wind was blowing all day, it sprinkled on and off, and it was downright cold. I wore about 5 layers that day and everyone else in my group was in the car by 10 while I ran through the park alone. I know we have talked about that day before, other people remember that frigid day.

My two favorite are TTD and Mean Streak. Mean Streak is such a beautiful coaster and seeing it from lighthouse point like people said before is amazing and I love seeing the Dragster tower lit up too...it is just soo incredible! I also love raptor's lighting too especially the strobes through the cobra roll.

TTD is beautiful at night! it is sad though when it is not running and you have to look at it at night from hotel breakers. I also like the simple lighting on Raptor at night!
