Favorite defunct ride/attraction...if you could get one back

USA Today's Pop Candy blog featured this topic today. It was kind of surreal to see Disaster Transport pop up somewhere like this.

Jumbo Jets! The year I was tall enough to ride was the first year it was removed from the park 1978.

Although I miss WWL, Pirate Ride and Earthequake are a close second. Those were fun rides even for me as a young kid in the 70s.

Same here! All I heard from my older cousins and brothers was how great the Jumbo Jet was, how it whipped you around, I couldn't wait until I was tall enough and boom! gone the same year I finally made it.

It probably goes without saying the one thing I miss the most is that funhouse. I remember being very upset they ripped all that out for a playground and ball pit. But I also miss the "dark rides", too. "I see an earthquake in your future..." and the pirate ride including the outside ship in the water- which lent aesthetics. Those things add a different diversion in the park outside of rushing from coaster to coaster and really made your day there feel varied and a completed experience. Of course it was never Disney quality but it was a fun, rollicking experience. Never was really into any live shows, dolphin or people, even as a kid, although the big movie theater was kind of cool.

Another thing I miss is trees. It seems Cedar Point gets sparser and sparser with each new addition. It's great they have all these coasters but they should start considering the atmosphere. They put Mantis in some years ago and the train ride back with the skeleton town pretty much got ruined. Frontier Trail seems a shell of its former bustling self. Still miss the blacksmith and don't understand why they closed the tower? Western Cruise was becoming a joke over 25 years ago but that boat ride was pecked at until there was hardly nothing left to see anyway by the time it closed. I'd still rather ride that than pay extra to see dinosaurs.

I don't mean to come across as a rant but after Gatekeeper is done I wish Cedar Point would throw some money toward fixing the atmosphere as best they can for a more immersive experience and I think trees would go a long way for buffers so it's not just rides on concrete. And, yes, I'd love to see some kind of dark ride come back, not necessarily a point and shoot either and, dare I say, a funhouse.

Upside-down Fun House

As an old timer there are several rides I miss. The old Pirate and Earthquake dark rides were cheesy but loved them. Would love to see some sort of dark ride with updated technology there again.

I miss the frontier lift. It was fun to go in the front gate and be able to ride the sky ride down the main midway, get off it and go a few steps and get on the Frontier lift and ride all the way to the back of the park.

I miss the old Upside Down Fun House. Again cheesy but always one of my favorites, especially the slides at the end.

And speaking of slides yes the big sky slide was awesome riding down on the old burlap sacks.

And one that no one else has mentioned is the Monorail. Only rode that a few times as a kid but it was fun!

I would love to have Demon Drop and Paddlewheel Excursions back. But on my last trip, with all the wind and rain, I found myself missing disaster transport a little more than I thought I would.

Yes the original disaster Transport with all the theaming functioning was a pretty good ride.

As I think I also miss all the trees and the shade and visual barriers they provided. I can remeber when Frontier trail was really a secluded walk back to frontier town - and even further back when the train was the way to get there! Not that I am complaining because the park has many more rides now. But it can be broken up visually into areas with some creative theaming and vegetation. If you have ever been to Disneyland they do an amazing job of this in some very tight quarters there.

I might be a little biased, but I miss Demon Drop. That was the first ride I had ever rode at Cedar Point.

mill race for me, so basic for a flume ride, but a fun family ride

I'm surprised Wildcat and Demon Drop have the following they do. I liked Wildcat alot except for the sudden brake at the end, that always sucked and was VERY rough the last year in 2011. I don't really miss Demon Drop's ending with you laying on your back and I think the only reason it was replaced was because of Power Tower coming to the park and being bigger and better. Just my two cents. Sky Slide and Funhouse haven't been duplicated since.

My votes would go to Demon Drop and Chaos.

Power Tower may be much larger, but the drop it provides is, well, lame. Demon Drop plunged like a rock--it was intense. Power Tower is fun, but not in the same sense.

Chaos was just a really cool ride. It was thrilling without being gigantic or attracting incredibly long lines. Plus, it provided one more fun thing to do in that section of the park.

Jumbo Jets, Rotor, Frontier Lift, and IMAX.

Demon Drop, Paddlewheel, WWL. But I can say for sure that my final ride on Paddlewheel was the best way to end it. Nothing like crashing into the shore and having a plethora of tree branches inside the boat.

If I could bring it back without removing the current ride: WWL. I had some good memories on that thing, but not enough to warrent the removal of Maverick :)

Pirate RIde all the way. I have no idea why Cedar Point closed it. Close second is White Water Landing. I think CP would have been better off remodeling WWL instead of spending 10 mil on Shoot the Rapids. Maverick could have gone where Shoot the Rapids is now.

Who would have taken on the responsibility of remodeling WWL?
