Favorite Area of Cedar Point!

I dislike starting new threads without checking to see if one has already been posted. It has been 6 years since there has been any activity in this thread, but I was day-dreaming about my favorite areas of Cedar Point this morning at work.

I have several...

1) The Frontiertown midway is my favorite area of the park by far. Everything from the Cedar Creek Mine Ride, to the Antique Cars, to Skyhawk, Wave Swinger and the bridge that separates Maverick and Snake River Falls -- the character and atmosphere of this area just appeals to me.

2) Not far from the Frontiertown midway, the designated smoking area by Mean Streak is a truly underrated spot in the park, great for kicking back and relaxing after a long day of riding and waiting in lines. I'm a non-smoker and I still love this area that is just beyond the CP&LE RR tracks.

3) On the opposite side of the park, my girlfriend and I LOVE strolling along the Cedar Point beach and boardwalk, especially at sun down. We always park at the Soak City lot and make a point to exit CP at the beach gate to get our fix in.

4) Another tradition of ours is stopping at the Shoot the Rapids deck whenever we pass it. Say what you want about the ride itself and its problems, but you cannot deny the beautiful scenery.

5) Last but not least, as a general favorite, I really enjoy the decorations and theming of Halloweekends. Halloween is our favorite holiday and I'll never forget a visit toward the end of the 2012 season with the fog machine cranking up high on a cool fall night. It truly gave the park an eerie and mysterious feel as we entered and walked throughout.

So let's hear it... what are some of your favorites?

Ok-I'm game for commenting! My #2 area of the park, is just past the MF exit on Frontier Trail. It offers many 'likes' FOR ME. It has the least offensive food odors & I can still still see my favorite ride(MF). It's also a convenient area with the Red Garter Saloon & adjacent smoking area. It can be relaxing for a bit, then exciting when a MF train comes by with joyful screams! My 3rd favorite area is in the back of Frontier Town, by the train station. I can enjoy a cigarette, see my second favorite ride & hear good country music while waiting for the train. But a silly favorite area isn't a 'area', it's a attraction-the train in general! I've had many days this year enjoying the fun. The train helps me relax & focus. One day , I hope to meet the MF at the bottom of the first hill, right when the train goes by! The #1 area? Any gate(preferably Soak City)gaining me access to my happy place !!!

Keep passing the fun along!

These are also my two favorite spots in the park! I really love to sit on the benches across from the cars in the evening. For some reason, I especially like this area, along with over by Mean Streak, between like 8pm and closing. It's usually just a calm quiet spot in the park during that time.
Although I also love walking anywhere through the park after closing, especially when they close at 10 and you stay late riding something or at the dance party. It's very quiet and strange.

Another great smoking area is near the entrance to Dinosaurs, just around the corner. It faces the water of the lagoon, right where the Paddlewheels used to pull in. There's a long arbor/pergola and the seats are rocking chairs. I love it there.

But the place I've always loved is the area just inside the Marina entrance gate. It's quiet and so shady, and with the Turnpike cars on one side, Dodgem on the other, and the old fashioned lamp posts, it just seems so "amusement park-y" to me. I lived at the Cedars for two seasons and that's how I entered and left the park every day, so maybe that's part of it too.

The really fun thing about this zombie thread is that it was started by our Shawn Meyer, who even back in 2008 found the Frontier Trail to be his favorite area of the park. Who knew that Shoot the Rapids would eventually come along to heighten his excitement even further?

Back in the day (as in late 70s, early 80s), I'd stay in the park til the last possible moment, ending up by meeting my mother at Fascination, where she would stay until they pretty much showed her the door and locked it behind her. :)

I was always happy to be in the park after closing, with empty midways and mostly employees around. Still remember one night when the Corkscrew crew paraded down the Midway singing "We are the 'screw crew, we do it all for you".

Any bench in the shade. Especially one with a back. Sit, lean back, people watch and listen to the sounds of Cedar Point. And if lucky fall asleep. A quick nap--sitting up of course--will do wonders.

The area along the beach behind Windseeker all the way past Hotel Breakers and to Challenge Park is very nice. It's usually pretty quiet and not with many people.

That area by the Marina entrance is also very nice and seems to be a pretty well kept secret (shhh don't tell anyone).

Great addition, RCMAC! I totally forgot about the smoking area near Dinosaurs, which offers a great view of Top Thrill Dragster as well. Love those rockers, which are featured at the Mean Streak smoking area and Raptor/Blue Streak smoking area too.

To expand on Dinosaurs a bit further, I used to love Paddlewheel Excursions. During our last trip a few weeks ago, I took my first stroll through Dinosaurs Alive with my son. There are some great views of Millenium Force and even Mantis back there!

One of my favorite spots that's gone is the old Ocean Motion area where Windseeker is now. It was such a nice relaxing shady area to wait for a ride and the theming went so well with the ride. Now it's all concrete and where they moved Ocean Motion is all concrete.

Conversely, this is one of the places I cannot enjoy, if only for the designated smoking area. It's usually just pick up the pace until you get past it.

On another note for this area, personally I don't find Panda Express to be offensive, but I can imagine some do, and that's probably the strongest food smell in the entire park.

For a Chinese food hating non-smoker, that has to be the park's armpit.

Yeah, all those noses(odors) work differently. I even notice how my senses change throughout the day in regards to odor. I feel Mean Streak must be the cleanest ride ever. All I smell is chemicals-regardless of time of day. Either the ride is so rough that guests are tossing cookies or the new 'wood' smells like fresh wet mulch all the time. IMO

Keep passing the fun along!

My favorite Area of Cedar Point would have to be the Wicked Twister Midway. There is so much color, it's so open, and the water is right there. Although I love the All Wheels Extreme show, I'm still waiting for the day for them to tear down the All Wheels Stadium

Definitely Frontier Trail. I love the sound of Millennium Force roaring down its first drop, through the first overbank. Its also really the only area in the park with natural shade. All the shops are very appealing with a nice train whistle to top it all of! Oh, and some furry friends to hang out with along the way!

I always thought it was cool when the chickens started hanging out in the walkway in front of the barnyard like "Oh don't mind me, I'm just a chicken walking in an amusement park, excuseme, pardon me..." Haven't seen any brave ones yet this year, maybe when they get older.

That's nothin. Ever been to Key West? Or Kauai? The chickens in those places don't even bother with "excuse me, pardon me".

My favorite area is outside Hotel Breakers. I love the pool, beach, and walkway along the beach.
I'm planning on spending a few hours there this weekend.

One of my favorite areas is in the back of Coliseum Arcade. It's one of the few places in the park that has remained largely unchanged since I began going in the early 80's. I'm always a sucker for dropping quarters in the old pinball and arcade machines, even though I know there's a 50-50 chance that there is a broken button or some other defect. As long as the sit-down Sega Turbo arcade racing machine is still there, I'm a happy man.

I have a fantastic photo of a bunch of chickens hanging out in front of the KFC, seemingly mocking it, in Lihue (right near the airport).

In the summer, my place is Bubbles (as I'm at right now) Nothing better than a swim up bar overlooking the beach.

DSShives, Good call. What are Bubbles draft beer and mixed drink prices this year?
