Fast Lane

I read it to be that if parking at Soak City were to ever not be an option, he would park in preferred parking.

You can still park there.

I usually park near Gemini as well, but there are going to be a couple of times this summer where $8 is money well spent.

See it as you want DJ, maybe I should've used parking at a Michigan football game as an example instead! Oh well!. Point being, a little extra walking in ones day can only benefit them in the long run, even though they will complain about it at that moment and save $8 (2 gallons of gas :) ), in the process.

That preferred parking lot probably won't exist next year or a few years from now anyways, who knows!

This is what I was trying to say (said better by Walt above).

Not true. At a certain point, any health benefits of extra exercise are outweighed by the wear-and-tear on one's body. I'd suggest that spending an entire day walking would get most people (certainly me) to that point. Not to mention that if I have to head to the car at any point during the day, the value becomes even more appealing.

How soft have Americans become when there is a concern about the wear and tear on a body after walking for an entire day?

What's "soft" about walking for an entire day? Just because I'd prefer to limit it doesn't make me soft.

That's probably at the same point in time when that person should not being going to an amusement park, especially one the size of CP, where walking is what you will pretty much be doing all day.

When I was in my teens and early 20's walking all day and then a hike to car was no big deal. I would not have paid extra for parking then. Now that I am older and the fact that my next visit will be with my 7 year old stepson, who after 10 plus hours in the park will be exhausted, the preffered parking is looking pretty sweet.

The last thing I want at closing is to have to not only carry my tired bum on a hike to the car, but also his. :-)

If you are worried about the wear and tear on your body after one day of walking - yes I call you soft.

OK, glad we got that settled. Moving along then...

I see nothing wrong with Fast Lane. The park knows how it works at other properties. Now they have to develop the right formula for Cedar Point. It doesn't happen in a weekend. Give it time.

What would some of you be saying if they did a "soft test" on the program this year without telling anyone? No signs, no website mention. Just purchase in the park. Spread by word of mouth. You'd probably think it was the greatest thing ever.

The park does not exist for enthusiasts alone. It exists for families, rich people, poor people, thrill seekers, kids, grandmas & grandpas, white, black, blah blah blah. The park seems to always take two steps forward and one step back for some of you and nothing is ever perfect.

Regardless of what's fair and what isn't, it really boils down to what dj has been saying all along: if you don't like it, don't buy it (or don't go to the park). Most of you know when to visit when there aren't any crowds anyway!

If you're Joe "I Don't Buy Fast Lane" Public, and you've waited 45 minutes and you're on the platform, does it matter anymore? You're there! Who cares if you have to wait one or two more trains. Unless we all learn that wait times increase by an awful number like 50% by July, then I don't think it's anything to lose sleep over.

What really gets me is the premium parking. No matter what park it's at (Cedar Fair, Six Flags or otherwise), it's completely obvious that it exists to make money. And THAT is not a good first impression I'd want my guests to get.

Cedar Fair itself exists to make money. Is that a bad impression? Not for me, a shareholder, its not.

Premium parking doesn't bother me, it's just a convenience fee to park close. You can find the same thing around ballparks and arenas, the close in lots always charge a premium.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

So when you go to a restaurant or venue that offers valet parking are you turned off my that? Because it is essentially the same....those customers who choose valet parking are paying extra for the benefit of not having to find a spot and walk from the car to the restaurant.

As someone who is only able to come to Cedar Point once a year, and has to drive 9+ hours to get there, if opening weekend is an indication of how Cedar Point is going to be the rest of the year, it sounds like I will pretty much be forced to buy a fast pass.

I am confident that the kinks will get worked out by October though. :-)

I know that CP is going to be offering a Fright Pass for Halloweekends attractions, do you know if they will be offering this in addition to the fast pass? Will they stop offering the fast pass for Halloweekends? Come October, if I want a fright pass AND a fast pass, will I have to pay an extra $100?

Halloweekend Saturdays, I can't wait to see how that goes with fast lane in use!

The best haunt is/ was terror island IMO. But let's see if that holds true with it being relocated by the water. The fog that area held, being inland, was crazy thick! That gave the screamsteers the opportunity to do their thing without being seen as you approach. The person on the bungee was a great surprise!

Do the haunts on Friday night, you should be able to get them all in without having to buy the fright pass, if that's going to be offered.

While as a platinum season passholder, I don't like either Fast Lane or preferred parking, I have a question and maybe someone knows the answer:

If it is $50 per rider for Fast Pass, and $30 per rider for families of 5 or more, then a family of 3 would pay the same as a family of 5 ($150), and a family of 4 would pay even MORE than a family of 5 or 6 since the 4Family would pay $200 and the 5Family and 6Family would pay $150 and $180 respectively.

There is something wrong with that....can I just purchase 5 passes even if we only have 4?

It goes down by 5 for every person in a group. 1-50, 2-45, 3-40, 4-35, 5-30.

So I take it random people will just group up at the counter give one person the money and get Fast Lane for $30 bucks a head.

I do not see how they can function with this system for over a season. I put my bets that they put in a electronic system by 2013 season, and adjust pricing to Six Flags flash pass levels (Read much more restricted and expensive)
