Fast Lane

The fast lane on MF takes people up on the opposite side of the station by the front car line. there are two signs, one that says front of car line, and one that says fast lane line.
The fast lane entrance is closer to Panda Express - if I remember correctly.

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

So I am assuming the hour wait was for the front car...that wait in addition to the fast lane users in the fast lane line? I'm still not seeing how this took an hour.

[url][url]I highly doubt the FL was 50 minutes unless there was downtime. As been stated several times MF does not use the old freeway line. Is it just me or does this thread seem to constantly ask the same questions? image_id=16738/"]http://www.gallery.pointpixels.com/details.php?image_id=16738/'>FL Line</a>

I was there yesterday with fast lane. The FL Q was an hour wait for MF from about 1 to 4. The line was backed to Panda Express. Fire away if you have more questions.

Obviously, Fast Lane is only wanted/used for 3, maybe 4 rides.

With waits like that, is it honestly needed? I can hear the FL users complaining now, "we payed $50 and still had to wait an hour, thats BS!"

With how fast CP moves riders through the lines, the system wasn't really need, minus Halloweekend Saturdays.

I hope this FL will end this yr. The Freeway took 2 yrs and it was gone.

It's not going anywhere. It's a money-maker and it's practically free to run. They'll make minor changes, but I'd get used to it being a part of your CP experience.

Not quite practically free to run. They have to keep an employee at most of the entrances to ensure that only FL users enter those lines.

But there has always been an employee at the queue entrance. As for the rides with different access points than the normal line, on Friday there wasn't an extra employee. If you didn't have the bracelet, you were turned away at the merge point. I saw a lot of people using the FL entrance getting turned away.

I would complain at guest relations if the FL wait time is 50 minutes when I paid an extra $35-$55 for FL with the understanding that I get to ride with short waits. Standing on concrete between two handrails for long periods of time is what I'm trying to avoid. I think CP will need to consider implementing a reservation-based system where you get a reserved time to cut in exchange for waiting an hour+ to get your ride. I wouldn't mind exchanging immediate gratification for freedom to roam the park and come back for a reserved time to ride. Of course, this would necessitate a more serious investment of time and money in designing and implementing FL to use more than paper bracelets purchased at gift shops.

But, we'll see how it goes as I'm sure CP management is aware of what's going on and is working out the kinks. FL worked great when I was at the park on Friday but the attendance was probably half the size of what the crowds were on Saturday which is where the system as it stands now is tested.

I think they can get away with that on the smaller rides during the week, but once the season get's going full tilt and if these lines really stay 45min or so then they are going to have to put someone out front of the entrance too.

I think everyone would agree that Cedar Point just needs to implement a Fast Pass type system like Disney has and that would be preferable.

I went to Cedar Point on Saturday, and we were discussing FL on the way back. friend made a pretty reasonable point. She said that with FL now put in, people with general admission might have to wait maybe 50% longer on busy days. So first, the value of the normal ticket has been lowered, as people need to wait longer. Now the FL people can ride for maybe 1/8 of the original line, and half of the original line at worst for 50$. The difference is a bit too much for me. I could always buy one, but I'd be let with a guilty conscience if I DID get it, as I'd be increasing the wait time for general admission buyers. I was one of them when I went, and I wasn't exactly pleased when I was waiting in line for an hour, just to see FL users come in with a very short wait, if any.

While I can certainly understand doing so, I didn't think it was needed to complain. By the time that MF had gotten to a 50+ minute wait, I had already walked on MF, Maverick (x2), Gemini, Skyhawk, Mean Streak, Maxair and had virtual walk-ons (<5 min wait) on Raptor (x2) and Magnum (x2). This was all in 4 hours. When my friends and I were walking into the park, we discussed that Fast Lane would be a success if we waited less than 30 minutes a ride with it. We viewed it as paying extra money to not have to stand in a line AS LONG as the the general public is, not as a tool to walk on every ride.

Today the regular line for MF is marked as a 1.5 hour wait and the Fast Lane line has no wait at all. It is really hard to imagine a 50 minute Fast Lane wait unless you waited in an extra long front seat line once you were in the station.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I don't mind the Fast Lane, however, after 3 visits this season, I'd like to see some tweaks made- mostly for TTD. One thing I don't like about Fast Lane is the any time, all the time pass. I'd like to see it limited to certain hours. Maybe noon to 6? That would still be an incredible value if you want to pay for it, and would not impact the day as much. Just my .02.

It used to have certain hours from noon - 7 at Kings Island but that idea was ditched very fast.

I didn't realize that @ KI. Any reason why? Another question, do the Fastlane lines open for early entry?

vwhoward's avatar

Fast Lane does not work with early entry. And on Thursday, they did stop FL usage for the last two hours on TTD because of downtime earlier on the day.

I still don't believe there was an hour FL wait. That just makes no sense at all.
