Fast Lane on Maverick

Thabto's avatar

Yesterday I had a Fast Lane pass. I think it was great.
The park was very busy yesterday. I got on Millennium Force in about 20 minutes instead of a 1.5 hour wait. I got on Raptor in about 10 minutes instead of a 1.5 hour wait, and I got on MaXair in about 3 minutes instead of 45 minutes.

But I was kind of disappointed with it on Maverick. Even with a Fast Lane I waited at least 45 minutes to an hour. I think Maverick's Fast Lane needs some work. At times, it looked like the regular line was going faster than the Fast Lane line. I feel I only saved about 30 minutes of waiting with a Fast Lane on Maverick.

You didn't have to wait 30 minutes more, there you go enjoy your fast pass...Not everything is going to be miniscule wait/walk on, everyone has to wait a bit too..Considering the hours you saved with other rides I'm sure that 45 min wait wasn't a terrible idea

I wasn't saying the Fast Lane was a bad idea. It saved me quite a bit of time and got me on rides I wouldn't have gone on otherwise.

I was just saying I think Maverick's Fast Lane should be handled a little differently. I think it shouldn't go all the way up to the station. I think the line should merge before the station like it does on all other rides.

The solution will most likely be to group Maverick in with TTD & GK for Fast Lane Plus... which will then likely have a negative impact on MF, as it will then be the most popular coaster on the standard FL roster.

I suspect next year Gatekeeper will be moved to Fastlane and Maverick to Fastlane+.

I really don't like Fast Lane Plus. I don't see the need for a more premium tier of Fast Lane. I think the price of a regular Fast Lane is already a big deterrent for alot of people buying them. With just a normal Fast Lane, you save considerable time. I also think it would be nice if they would just sell them by the ride, like I would only buy Maverick and MF passes most of the time. But that would probably just make the problem worse instead of better.

Individual ride Fast Lane passes definitely would make the problem worse for the popular stuff. One of the reasons I think that Fast Lane is "fair" is that you get longer Fast Lane waits for the major attractions. That in turn discourages Fast Lane guests from trying to ride those popular attractions a disproportionate amount (i.e., getting three or four rides on something in the time it takes for a regular guest to get one).

How are they merging Fast Lane guests on Maverick?

Wait a second... aren't you the one who started this very thread complaining about the fact that there are too many people in Maverick's FL line? ;)

If the price of standard FL were enough of a deterrent to keep people from buying them, you wouldn't be seeing these excessive FL waits on Maverick. In order to reduce the number of people in line, they have to change the value proposition.

1. The reason it's separated is an op needs to be able to verify you're a fastlane purchaser. If they combine at the bottom of the stairs they need to have a ride op down there, however they also need another ride op up at turnstile for crowd control & seating arrangements.

2. Still, you're complaining about waiting 45 minutes when a normal line wait would have been 1hr 15 minutes, take any time you get to shave off as a benefit, even if it's only a little bit.

3. The price is set actually low comparing to other chains in the business. Also the price is set to be affordable, but still a big expense, but it's up to you to determine if it's worth the price to cut the majority of the lines.

4. Just enjoy the park

I am going this coming Monday with fast lane plus. Was the reason your Maverick wait was so long beacuse there were a lot of people in the fast lane line or just a lack of diffusion of fast lane users into the station?

There is no longer a single rider line, and the regular queue goes up the right hand stair case. I'm not sure where the FL entrance is, but they get the left hand staircase and merge in the station.

The problem wasn't too many people. It was the flow of the line.

And I'm not saying anything bad about Fast Lane. I think the Fast Lane is a great idea and I saw it's benefits on MF, Raptor, and MaXair. Yes I did save a little time on Maverick, but not enough to make me want to wait again for a second ride on it. But the crowd level was high yesterday and I always avoid going on Saturday's.

Maybe they shouldn't allow riders to bring items on? That would save some time by people not putting in and taking their items out of the bins. They do at the end of the day in the park to get the line to move faster. I wasn't allowed by souvenir cup into the Gatekeeper line.

The way they're doing it this year is terrible. They let the majority of the Fast Lane line go all at once then have the standby line go the next time they let people in. That just slows the line way down. Fortunately, I won a tweet up and got Front of Line passes :).

^Yes, I noticed the opposite problem Thabto had. I find that the FL line moves a lot while the regular line hardly moves. I do think Maverick still needs some tweaking with its Fast Lane system, but overall I really don't mind the system.

I won Front of the Line passes yesterday as well. My daughter felt like a rock star walking in through the exit for Maverick. Yesterday was packed, especially for a Monday!

I still look this way man...for what you told me...

A normal guest would have waited 3hr 45min in queue for the rides you listed.

You waited a total of 1hr 18min

I would suggest that the former is what causes the latter, or at least what causes the latter to be a difficult issue to overcome without increasing the price or moving Maverick to FLP.

That Thabto's wait was reduced doesn't invalidate the complaint.

If a premium product is creating lines that are too long, seems to me you would want to increase the price of it to decrease the demand a little. Adding Maverick to the Fast Lane Plus would be a way to do that. If long lines continue to be a problem for the ride, the park could make it a "pay for a one time, skip the line" pass similar to what Six Flags does for its top two attractions at each park.

I think the best thing to do on Maverick would be to take a few people from the Fast Lane line and a few from the regular line each time they allow more people into the station. Alternating each line is what is most likely the culprit.

Honestly the fact you still didn't have to wait the full queue time to ride the ride, I feel no sympathy that your line did not move quick for either reason, be overcrowded line, or poorly managed crowd control. You still didn't have to wait as long as others because you paid for a ticket to give you the right to do so. Enjoy the time you got to do other things in the park or relax whilst others walk through queues. So sorry if I don't sympathize for you or care for a solution, did you get on quicker on every ride, yeah. Did you not get on as quick as you would have liked to in comparison to the other rides and attractions, yeah. Did you still ride the ride, yeah...

Again, get over it
