Entertainment while waiting

Oh face it. The only entertainment we'll be seeing is probably a DJ that'll play YMCA for us about 1,000 times...

This comes up time and time again, and no one ever realizes that Cedar Point is going to stick to safe music that is tolerable to everyone.

Yeah, I realize it, but a guy can dream can't he?? Another song comes to mind... Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven. That song symoblizes the stairway that goes up to the station on magnum for me.

My best friend Kim and I have perfected our playing-cards-while-walking-in-line technique over the last 4 or 5 years so we're all set. This time we'll have both of our boyfriends with us too, Opening Day (I'm so excited...I'm coming back from Boston and lugging my Cedar-Point-virgin boyfriend with me for Opening Day). So we can all play war or poker and watch Millennium Force fly. :o)

I will be praying from now unitl May by 10 year old will be tall enough to ride MF-this way I can talk to her on line-if not as in years passed since she is was too short to ride Raptor and Mantis I people watch--and definitely talk to everyone around me---
have made tons o'friends this way and sometimes end up hangin with them all day!
(LOVE being a CP "tourguide"!!)

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
I might just be odd, but I think the best entertainment in line for a ride is talking to the people you are with and the ones arround you. I do everything I can to keep my mind off of the ride, because I have learned from past experience if I think about it too much I won't ride it. For example, a few years ago when the Steel Phantom opened at Kennywood, I had already riden the Magnum multiple times before, but I thought too much about the 2nd drop, and my friends enden up literally draging me on it. But with Raptor I was totally fine, and I didn't think about it at all. Back to the subject, I will REALLY need to keep my mind off of it, and I think talking to friends and interaction with people will be the best entertainment.
Well said SHS that is basically how I rode magnum my 1st time. Before I knew it I was strapped in and going up the lift hill with alot less fear.

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
I always take a book, its light and fits into most pockets. Like what servo said it does pass time quickly. And for the music thing why not play dc talk? Don't use the exscuse that they are a christian band. Why? Well and i qoute that the lyrics can be taken secular and religious. (Rolling stones magazine) Besides the songs are mostly secular songs brought back to life with new meaning!

another random thought of a newt
For the most part religious music is quite hokey. I've had acouple friends who listen to that type of music and it seems pretty...blah. Nothing that would get my excited in line, I'm looking for something that will get my heart pumping in line, not looking for the meaning of life :-) A good instrumental track would suit me fine, something upbeat, or yes even a cheasy pop tune works wonders...but after the 6th time of hearing "Love Shack" can get on ones nerves.
Really, the 310 foot monster will keep me entertained...hell, Gemini's plan and simple line used to be good enough for me. I'm sure this coaster will be no different.

I admit some is "HOKEY" but not all. Six Pence none the richer, POD, Blessid Union of souls, is far from Hokey. A lot of the music is upbeat and does get your heart going. Audio A does a lot of upbeat music and I would love to see it at CP!!!

HE HE HE!!! *** This post was edited by newt on 2/21/00. ***
I could handle POD, Audio A, and Blessed Union of Souls, but NOT, I REPEAT, NOT Sixpence none the richer. I'll have none of that.

Thank you for riding Raptor and enjoy your day here at Cedar Point, America's RollerCoast!
I wish there would be a bathroom in line because I will really have to go if the line is that long I just hope I don't get tempted to buy a pop in line!

Blessed Union of Souls... heh heh... when they played my university a few years ago, they were worshiping something entirely different. And the smell of burning leaves seemed to follow them around.

I think I've mentioned this once or a thousand times, but what you think "sucks" is generally tolerable by the masses, and that's why they play it.

DC Talk is good stuff, and was even played by a lot of secular radio stations. Remember "Colored People"? Jars of Clay is another one; they were actually voted best new band a while back at the Grammy's. Creed is actually considered by most to be Christian although they say that they're not a "Christian Band". Oh, and Christian music doesn't "search for the meaning of life", they've already found it. Jeff, however, is right; the music they play is appreciated by a larger mass, that's why its on the Top 40.
Well if we are on Christian music what about Michael W. Smith. His old songs like picture perfect, and his new one this is your time. It was #1 on the christian charts. that's got to mean something. Gotta agree with jeff though.

CP goal #1 beat LuvRaptors record of 31
O.K., but for every DC Talk song they play, I wanna hear one Steve Earle song. Like "CCKMP". Like THAT'S gonna happen.

Regardless of how mainstream you think Christian artists are, the very fact that you identify them as Christian artists are reason enough not to play them. If you happen to be of the Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, etc. faith, that's not your bag, baby. It has nothing to do with policitcal correctness or anything like that, it's just that Cedar Point has to keep things as plain and universally acceptable as possible to please the largest audience.

Now if they'd just watch the Canadian guests' faces when "Proud to be An American" appears in the Summer Spectacular...

You guys are all nuts. Nothing would suit MF better than Carmina Burana.
