The Radisson and Friday's are owned and operated by Cedar Fair as franchises. They are required to operate them according to the standards established by the franchising company.

Word on the street is that abbreviated menu and poor service at the Breakers Friday's are the result of Cedar Point trying to run the place like a food stand, and that Carlson restaurants has really butted heads with them over it.

Well, all I can say is that if you really want an awesome job, then you need to work Restrooms! At least you needed to work Restrooms when I worked in that division (Summer of 95)! Foods is also awesome. Worked as a zone sup of zone 6 summer of 97 and had a blast! Really, the best jobs to have on the point in my opinion are what I call the "underdog" positions such as Restrooms, Foods, Group U, etc. Now not that I think these jobs are demeaning, heck, I pulled garbo and I loved it! But when you are hired for these positions, others in the park immediately think of you as the underdog and not "worthy," therefore, you and your fellow employees really pull together to prove everyone wrong! Hell, the best part of one of my summers at CP was when the Raptor guys pulled garbo for extra hours. I don't think they knew what they were getting themselves into, I loved it! They wanted to wear gloves! HA HA HA Restrooms was the best position I had at the park. People look at me like I am nuts when I say that, but hey, don't knock it till you try it. I also enjoyed my time in Foods, but as a supervisor, it is sometimes hard to have as much fun as the red tag employees because you have A LOT of responsibility and you run your behind off! But I loved every minute of it! I also had my fair share of fun, hey Jenn, does the potato chip incident ring a bell, or how about Nuts for Joe? LOL I myself, would never want to work in rides, I had much more guest interaction when I worked in Restrooms. I mean the chances of everyone coming in my restrooms were much greater than the chances of everyone in the park riding the Raptor or the Mantis! When you gotta go you gotta go! But seriously, I get so tired of certain positions in the park looking at jobs like Foods and Restrooms and Group U; the jobs that give the park their cleanliness awards, as jobs that are demeaning in some way or another. Do you know how many times I was cleaning a restroom and had a rides employee come in and mutter something about "Potty Patrol?" Yes, I worked on the Potty Patrol and I was darn proud to work there. Do you know how many times I found a sweeperette smoking in one of my RR stalls? Zillions of times! I just don't get it! The point I am trying to make is that every position in the park is important in its own way. Without one, we could not have the other, and that is just the way it goes. Healthy competition is good, but when you start degrading something you know nothing about, that just bites my biscuit. Ok, I have said my peace! SOme of you are saying! THANK GOD! Later
From one "underdog" to another....I couldn't have said it better (and for those of you who know me you know that is a very bold statement!)

I find nothing wrong at all with Foods---I have a son who is coming back to CP for his third year at Skyride and I think it's been a great experience for him. One of the major strengths of his seasons at Skyride, and one of his primary reasons for returning there, is the chance to spend the summer working with all the students from foreign countries. It's been a real growing experience for him working with people from throughout the world. Where else in Ohio can you learn to cuss in Czech?? Seriously, my son chose Foods over everything else; his brothers have worked (or are working) in Games, Police, and Merchandise, but he is a dedicated Foods dude! Don't knock it!!

I don't know unitygem, but all I have to say is that if she has enthusiasm about RR, then she is one classy gal! LOL Restrooms rocks! Foods also rocks, I really can't decide which I like better. But if you want a really cool job, you need to pull garbo! Now that is cool! Nothing like that garbo juice running down your arms on a hot 100 degree day! Or trying to get the garbo cart down the middle of the midway when there are a gazillion people in the park! God I love it! Nothing like it! Don't know why I didn't discover it sooner!

Yours til the toilet overflows or the corndog fries!
Unity Gem and Jen worked restrooms different summers. They would have gotten along great I think.. but Unity Gem wouldn't have been able to touch the enthusiasm Jen has ( Which should tell you how much enthusiasm she has).. and Heather.. I know you and Jen worked in Foods at the same time, but I think you were a Unit Sup then. The two of you paired together as Areas would have rocked the whole park.
Well you know what can I say, I love my potties! I was the Potty Princess! I just love being the underdog and proving everyone wrong! I don't remember Heather, might if I saw her, but anyone who loves their job like I did, has to be just damn awesome! But you know not only is an Area Sup important in foods, but the unit sups are important as well. I mean sometimes they miss out on the glory. But hey, they do all the orering, they are the ones with the red tag employees in their stands all the time, so they are the ones that have to keep the enthusiasm up in their own stand. Without good unit sups, we all are nothing!

Just an update, I filled out an application and wil mail it tommorow. I have talked with Jenn(email) and am considering merchandise and park operations.(sweep) She told me that she hires responsible minors for that job. Also, she said she would call me as soon as my application is processed. (interview) Thank you all.

Good luck. Just for the record, if you had to work anywhere outside of Foods, then definitely work for Jenn if you can! :)

Yeah working for Jenn was so awesome last year - and she was so great to me when I wanted to transfer. I'm SO glad I had the opportunity to work under her and maybe someday I will do it again. :o)

Lovely. More prey for my award winning personality (or lack thereof.) I present to you a list:

Top Ten Things Found in my Shower Stall While Working at Cedar Point--

10. cigarette butts
9. beer cans
8. ratty undershirt
7. condom--unused
6. undeterminable food item
5. single ratty sock
4. dirty underwear
3. condom--used
2. broken glass
1. staggering turd

Now, for the work requirements. As far as I am concerned, your one and only skill should be the inherent ability to cope with the heinous living habits of the lowest rabble spawned from the impoverished dregs of society, also known as your employee brethren. Of course, if you can find roommates that do not live like rats, then more power to you. I hope your summer goes well if you do chose to work at Cedar Point.

Now, for the typical rah-rah crap that usually accompanies these posts. Kelly, you are my one and only honorary momma and I am very dismayed that I can't see you. I have a tournament this weekend and the following weekend, I have a conference that I have already paid eighty dollars to attend. I will definitely try to give you a call sometime. Until then, I will do my best to not become sadly unctuous without your godly presence in my life. Until we meet again my sweet...

You are forgiven! And we're working on a weekday trip, so get ready! The 3 musketeers, together again.
