Employee Housing Renovations

Has anybody heard anything about the Housing Renovations yet? I know that Gold's will be no longer. But not sure when Cedars will be gone.

When is Golds going? This off season? I'm sure once Golds is gone, Cedars is not too far behind. I believe there needs to be more off point housing if the on point dorms are going though.

Yes, that was the talk when I left in August. Yes that's the plan, but the part that I'm not sure about is when the new buildings will be done. Hopefully you can guess, but if not, it's ok. Somebody will know. Gatekeeper's lift hill was "topped off" today!! So far so good, with the B & M Construction Company!!

Are they planning on making the internet better??? I would really like to Skype with my mom and boyfriend while I am there this summer.

That and improving the Rec Center.

And actually keeping Subway in the rec open an hour after the park closes so I don't have to drive all the way to Walmart for a sub :)

I heard rumors about it in 2011 when Ouimet did the walk around Commons with park managers, but I didn't hear anything official about the renovations until the mention of the multi-year investment of hotel properties including employee housing. And I was under the impression that the employee housing wouldn't be focused on until the last year of the investment. I hope I'm wrong!

We will see. Some of it could be rumor though. I don't know for sure. But I do know for SURE that Gold's is coming down and the Rec Center will be updated/improved.

At the end of the 2013 season Golds will be removed and they will start ground breaking on the new 400 Bed Employee housing unit located across or next to the current housing complex. They have also started laying down new wiring for the new Wifi in the dorms next year, they have recieved too many complaints about their sucky internet service in past years that they are finally improving it.

Does the wifi only apply to the dorms or are they also going to improve it in the apartments ?

Where did you see this?

back during weekends i was talking to one of the housing managers, you know the red-haired lady that is always in the commons store, about new housing. she said she remembered when they added the new wing onto the 1500s and basically said that there is no way they can close cedars or golds until new housing is built. she went on to say (and ive heard people say this too) that a few years ago they ran out of housing and rented a motel off cleveland road for employees to stay at. cedar point does own all the land by the EVC and down past louie's though. so land isnt a problem, just when and where.

There has been talk about improving housing and internet for a long while now. I myself won't believe any of it until it actually happens. It could finally be happening but don't get your hopes built up just to have them destroyed lol. Hopefully there will be change though!

I just can't believe that they wouldn't put wifi in considering that a vast majority of the employees are probably between 18-mid 20. Everyone has wifi devices!

SSL488, Dick Kinzel is probably too old to know what WiFi is. Hopefully Ouimet comes through with his promises, but I won't hold my breath.

Turue. Kinzel was nice though. I saw him on the Midway a couple of times in 2011. Haven't officially met Ouimet yet. But so far, I like him as a CEO.

He's doing great as a CEO. I'm really excited to see what the park looks like 10 years from now.
