Very obscure. If I wasn't making a purchase at the register there's no way I would have ever seen them.

GateKeeper patches are in abundance,MF & TTD were available early in the season, now they're rare. What's surprising is the lack of Maverick patches.

And the lack of Blue Streak anything. You would think they would have wanted to take more advantage of the anniversary from a merchandising perspective. A 50th anniversary patch to go with my 25th would have been nice. And yeah, Maverick is awfully popular. If a coaster could sell a patch I'm sure that one could.

previous years and even earlier this season, maverick patches seemed to be available at all the shops, now nowhere to be found.

There are new patches this year! At the Pagoda on the wall by the cashier counter at the entrance on the main midway towards the park entrance there is a collection of them hanging.

Here's a link to a pic of the collection. As of Tuesday evening the Iron Dragon patches were gone. We bought a few different ones and plan to get more each trip. I thought about just getting the whole collection at once but at $5 a peice and needing two of each it just wasn't in the budget this week.

Oh boy, here comes the debate about whether Pipe Scream is a proper roller coaster again!

That being said, those are super cool and I just wish Mean Streak was a decent ride to match up with how much I like its logo.

What no Corkscrew? Seems odd that the Corkscrew patch would be sold out.

Pipe Scream is not a roller coaster! A nice flat with a hill, but not a coaster. It doesn't even coast, it is motor driven.

That's a good way to settle the argument. No coasting, no coaster.

It really doesn't matter to me, just playing devil's advocate here, but so is Wicked Twister.

But Pipe Scream is speed-controlled and motor-driven for its ENTIRE ride. There aren't any motors on Wicked Twister's spires.

You sure about that? I'm pretty sure Pipe Scream "coasts" up the end hills.

I also think it does. Pipe Scream's motors boost it and then cut out, very similar to how Wicked Twister works.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

To be honest, Wicked Twister doesn't feel like a real coaster to me. I know it genuinely counts as one and I won't argue that point. I just don't think of it when I think coaster.

Just got home from ERT nite. The new patches are also at Park Plaza, bought many.

You know, this is probably the one and only time I've ever disagreed with you. Clearly no hard feelings, but come on! :(

It's a completely personal thing. No reflection on the coaster itself really.

I hate to say it, it has always been difficult for me to call WT a coaster, too, from the get-go. In my mind it's a thrill ride, I think a coaster should be an out and back traditional. Its movements mimic the swinging boat. Demon Drop ran on a track, too, definitely "coasted".

These patches are quite cool. They should have had a table selling them at Coastermania, or given a set away, etc.
