Jeff... your kidding me right.... Walt is a sell out to the Public Relations Department. I know Walt. Just because you type it and put it on your UN-OFFICAL web site does not mean it should be written in the history books.
If Walt's a sell-out then that must make me a vice president. Walt didn't even know any of the PR folks until last year. I however have for at least five years, have been to one wedding, every media event in those five years, and the park is a sponsor of CoasterBuzz.com (the other site I run).
You sound like a bitter little man, get over it. If the park is "ruined" as you put it, obviously there were 3.25 million people who wasted their money last year. Just because someone pissed in your Cheerios doesn't spoil the park for the rest of us.

Oh, I know! You're full of crap.
My relationship with the PR Department may only be a year old, but I've been around the block many, many times. I worked there for 6 years and I've practically lived there each summer since 1973. My dad has been visiting since before WWII and my grandfather worked at the Cedar Point Lighthouse long before that.
You won't find many who have the knowledge, appreciation, and love of Cedar Point that I do. I've seen both sides of the fence. I've seen the good and the bad and I've seen how the park has evolved. But I don't see anything that's been ruined.
I'm not sure if you're bitter, disgruntled, or perhaps a little bit of both. You obviously have had some bad experience with one or more people at Cedar Point. With the attitude displayed on this forum, it's not hard to imagine why.

Are you saying that Nancy Jane lied to me? Or are you saying that I made up or changed the answer? I asked her the question regarding departure and that's the answer she gave me.
That's too bad. I didn't keep track of visits last year, but they were numerous. There were many highlights to the season, although the best one is easily my son's first trip to the park. I got to see my son, then only 29 days old, ride his first three rides. I'm glad I'm not bitter, or I would have never been able to enjoy that.

I'm still not sure what makes me a sell-out. Maybe there are lots of reasons. I don't really care. I'll sell-out for Cedar Point any day. As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the greatest places in the world that has provided an immeasurable amount of enjoyment not only in the past, but in the present, and for many years to come.

All I'm going to say to you is.... I forgot more about Cedar Point than you know.... and just go back to playing Dungeons and Dragons

You must really like hanging out and the Blue Streak and Giant Wheel? Hint..
The park's attendence has been going down steadily for yhe past 5 years. The park has not seen 3.25 million since 1990.
Anyone who actually lives in Sandusky can tell you that as they have watched traffic die off.
Don't be foolish enough to believe PR's attendence figures either. You think that Kinzel wants to keep spending 20 - 25 million every year.... no he does it cause if he don't he believes you won't come back.
Why do you think ticket prices go up every year? It's cause attendence keeps going down and we got to keep those stock dividends up so we raise prices. And it's not to pay for new coasters either.
And why do you think they keep buying all these defunked parks? It's because then they boast that theri overall parks attendence is up. And the raise prices in the park so their in park per capita totals go up.
See if you were a stock hold like I am you would get a yaerly report like I do so you can learn things.....

Let's ask your dad or grandfather that question?????
I've been going to Cedar Point since the early 60's and I completely fail to see why you feel the park is on the wrong track. Yes, the CP of my childhood was a magical place. The CP of present is an even better place. Sure, it has lost some of its small time charm. And there are more rules now due to the litigious climate in the U.S.. But, the park has grown up into one of the premier amusement attractions in the world. It is every bit as fun as it always was, and the rides far eclipse what I had as a child at CP. CP still has the special quality that could only be CP. I've done a lot of traveling in the U.S., Europe and the Caribbean, and after all my travels, CP is just about my favorite place on earth.
I would also suggest that you keep private conversations private. Walt is one of the CP regulars that I know, and he has a deep respect for the park and the people who work there. I feel your comments are in poor taste, and most likely, just a bunch of crap.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

Not only were his comments in very poor taste and certainly a bunch of crap, they were a complete lie and they have been deleted. He obviously remembers a very different conversation than I do. In his post he said he "thought" I said ... very poor memory indeed.

You have so little ammunition for your argument that you resort to juvenile insults (though I don't know what playing Dungeons & Dragons has to do with anything, or if I did why that would be a bad thing). What's next, yo mamma jokes?
CP's attendance was 3.25 million last year. Not only do I believe it (especially with strong Halloweekends when the weather was good), it's what they declared as a corporation. They don't lie about things like that. The SEC gets real unhappy with public companies that lie about such things. Besides, those increasing dividends I get every three months are very much real money I reinvest for more units. I get the annual report, thanks. Not only do I read it, but I understand it.
Ticket prices have been less than inflation most years in the past decade. So much for your theory.
Amusement parks spend money on capital improvement. That's what they do, so what? You have to spend money to make money. Guess what? It works... see previous comments about dividends.
As for buying "defunked" parks... (Are those parks where they removed the smell? Spell it with me... "D-E-F-U-N-C-T.") What the hell are you talking about? At what point did they buy a defunct park? Michigan's Adventure was certainly doing OK when they bought it, as were the water parks in California. Prior to that we had Knott's Berry Farm. The only bigger deal than that park in SoCal is Disney, so that was hardly a bad move.
And while on the topic, they don't buy them to make their numbers look good, they buy them to (gasp!) make more money! Do you read the reports Mr. Unit Holder? Every year they've purchased a new property they always give two figures for attendance and revenue, one with the new acquisition and one without.
Yo mamma...

It is true that "Captain Ed" was a part time employee at Cedar Point at one time but there is a lot about his relationship with the Point that he is not disclosing.
I'll leave it at that.
Some times in July I can walk right on Iron Dragon, Blue Streak, Gemini, Corkscrew and sometimes Mantis..... should they take these rides out as well?
You're still a bitter man with an axe to grind and no argument.
