Dumb question?

I was wondering how strick Cedar Point's grooming standards is?

I have my head shaved right now, and trying to figure out if I should let it grow out now, or do they allow a military type buzz cut etc. as long as it's even? They never said anything about it on their grooming spec's but wanted to be sure before hand.

Hey I said dumb question :), but thanks for any advice.

There really arn't any dumb questions. The buzz style sould be fine. I think some people even shave thier heads because of the heat. As long as the hair isn't too long, touching the collar or anything, you should be just fine. Corse, I'm a girl so I don't really have to worry about it. ParkOpJon might be able to help more.

I agree with you Sabrina. As long as it's not in any funky shapes, colors, etc, you should be fine with a buzz cut. As for other things, they're very strict when it comes to facial hair. If you have it, get rid of it before you come to process in because you will not be allowed to process in until you've shaved. You can also be written up for it during the season. Other things like piercings, tatoos, etc are covered pretty fully in the grooming guidelines, and they are all enforced. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the follow ups, truly appreciated :)

Wait wait, does this mean no leather collar with spikes on it :) haha, I wish I was that exciting. Again thanks and have a great summer.

-------------I have a question...i have my tongue pierced. can I put in a hole retainer in lieu of taking it out or do i need to take it out? Just wondering...if anyone knows please do spill if a clear flat headed hole retainer is ok.
WHOO HOO!!!
Robbi, You can try it but there is always the risk of someone seeing it. It's safer just to take the ring out before you get to work. It saves you from getting into any trouble.

Yeah Robbi, official stance is nothing allowed, no piercing or retainer. (Personally think that a small tongue piercing should be allowed since it's pretty hard to see if you're not looking for it, but hey, guess that's why I'm not a manager. :) )

Wait.....

Your not allowed to wear your retainer when your at work? Thats kinda weird.

Actually last year they let us wear a retainer back in Challenge Park, Ryan said as long as it was clear it was fine, you just couldn't have flat out tounge rings... I think it's also depends on your Sup as to whether you can wear a tounge ring retainer or not.

If they can't see the tongue ring there, they can't get you in trouble for it. After working for 2 years at a very strict dress code place (Chickfila, if any of y'all have heard of it, I dunno if they have them in Ohio). Our store manager had his ears pierced several times and a few eyebrow rings too, so he was very sure to make sure that anyone with an unapproved piercing took it out for work. I know we had people with tongue rings, and we watched for them, made sure that they didnt leave the big silver ones in during work. But if they can't see it, then they can't make you take it out, or write you up for it.

I know of at least one person from the Mantis crew who got fired for wearing her tounge ring at work just one day.

You don't realize it's in if you've had it for long enough. I've never worked at a job where they weren't allowed, but now that I do I'll have to put a little note in my car reminding me to take it out or something.

I agree with Jeff. It's easier to just follow the rules, no matter what you think of them, than to worry and sneak around because you know that you're breaking them. Less stress!! Anyway, who would want to risk being fired from CP just for not following the grooming guidelines? And it does happen...

I didn't even read the question. I just post "Answer" when someone titles a thread "Question," so this was just a natural progression from that. ;)

If you go to a professional piercer and actually pay a little bit of money for a good retainer they will not notice it. I had my eye brow pierced a few years ago and a wore a retainer to work. Neither my parents or my managers noticed it. Keep in mind you get what you pay for. So if you don't want the hassel of paying for a piercing and going through the after care procedures again then be willing to pay about the price of the actual jewelry(generally $15-$30) or learn how to make retainers yourself.
They won't fire you without a warning. They are not that anal about it. Its a warning then a dissmisal, don't worry about. Just make sure your friends with your sups and its all good ;) And don't be stupid about it...
