Drug Testing????

How do you do the drug testing? do they make you do it in front of them or what?

thanks

When I did it last year they had me go into the bathroom to fill the cup and then hand it to them and they ran the test on it there in front of me.

When I did the drug testing, they had a small sample of each one for me to try. Tested them all, worked just fine! :)

i think that drug tests are ridiculous, i got a random one last year, and i was just a performer, not exactly a threat to the safety of other employees or guests... i agree with the policy with life guards and ride-ops, but does it really matter with sweeps???

Haha. . .well, it's still a legitimate question, whether he's on drugs or not. I have never 'done drugs,' yet, I cannot 'pee on command' and frankly I'd get tired of having a drug test like every other week. When I got a physical last week, it took me all day to give them my 'sample' hehe. . .so I'm glad that I don't have to worry about anything other than a random one which may or may not ever happen.

I think what he meant was he might be embarrassed/uncomfortable to be exposed in front of others.

Why is it ridiculous? Now according to the Employee Agreement that you signed or will sign says this.

"2. For the safety and security of all guest and employees, Cedar Point has adopted a drug and alcohol abuse policy. As part of this policy, employees may be required to undergo medical testing to determine the presence of drugs, narcotics, or alcohol......"

Now as you can see it is done for your safety and the reputation of the park. I think it would look really bad For the park while you were doing your show and for some reason you passed out or something while on stage. And it was found out that it was because you were doing something that was illegal or just being drunk while on stage. Just my 2¢.

There's nothing ridiculous about it. No employer wants people on drugs working for them. What's so hard to get about that?

I always wanted to sneak some apple juice in with me, put it in the cup, then come out and drink it, just to see what kind of reaction I got. That's sick and wrong, but the look the look on their face would be pretty priceless.

LiveEdavid . . . I don't know about you, but I know a lot of 'actors' who are always high when they perform. Hehe I am not condoning that behavior, but it's a trend I have noticed. After seeing some of them, frankly, I like them better high. It makes it more enjoyable. But that can stay at the colleges. Not so much at CP.

I thought about doing that last year. You would probably only want to do it when they weren't that busy though and wouldn't get mad if you wasted a little bit of their time. Haha though.

So CP does the piss test? I know at my high school they drug test everyone twice a year and its very simple because they just take a snippet of hair and your done. So why does CP do the piss test when the hair test is much more accurate and simpler in my oppinion.
Cost...

While the hair test is much more accurate (some drugs can be detected for up to 10 years using this method) it is also much more expensive.

I happen to have a friend who is the president of one such company, and that company also does a few theme parks. They'd love to do a huge client like CP, but as Rob suggested, it's not as cheap and it takes longer.

If it can go as far back as 10 years, you would exclude a lot of people who are now clean but may not have been back in the day. Not really all that fair to them. But yeah, it's not cheap (esp. for up to 4,000 people)

The hair test is very expensive but I doult that is the main reason that they don't use it at CP. The piss test they did on us last year gave the results in just about two minutes. They just stuck the little dipstick in the piss and if all the right lines came up you were safe. Also the test is so simple any person with half a brain could administer it. Sometimes brains seem to be streched a little thin around the point.

Not all drugs will show up for that long. Certain "harder" drugs do.

That's what I was going at (even if I didn't say it all that well). Thanks for the clarification though!

Its a shame that CP is possibly violating a number of constitutional rights. Just becuase one signs a contract with a corporation does not mean that you give up your civil rights! This will take years to wind its way through the court system...in the meantime the employees have to play by CP rules!
Jeff's avatar
The Constitution doesn't say anything about drug testing. Try reading it. Drug testing has been through the courts over and over again. It's legal. It has nothing to do with civil rights.

Do you want to get on airplanes knowing the pilots are pot heads? Doctors? Ride operators?
