Dragster Not Open til' the 4th

Yeah but who would really be surprized at it closing the rest of the season? It's hardly been open for the last two months!!

**It just screams....Ride Me!!**
I would be VERY surprised to see it down the whole season. I think whenever they get it fixed.. whether it be tomorrow or 4 weeks from now they will open it.
I'm going to CP July 15-17, I'll bet $100 it's up and running, I WILL ride!........in the first car.
Well I hope it will be open because I do want to ride it sometime this year, but I would rather it be down this year and get the testing done to make it better for next year!!

well they just ninstalled new stuff to the ride so i would imagine that the ride would be better than ever. So there's better and more advanced stuff on the ride like sensers and new brake fins. and HOPEFULLY put the themeing on the new trains (if they even have it).

Where would they put the themeing?

Umm..... on the trains.

tires , spoilers, etc...

kind of a silly question if you ask me.

Has anyone mentioned about adding the extra seats AND keeping the themeing? They could be adding the seats just for added capacity, then adding some kind of new object on the back that the themeing actually likes to stay attached to. Just a thought.

Egg nog... how'd they think that up?
"I want to get a little drunk... but I also want some pankcakes."

Where on the train would they put the themeing TTD IS DA BOMB 01? As seats now occupy the former place where the engines used to be.

Looks like they are going to add seats and some kind of theme:

That would be great if we got seats and at least some theming back, then everyone would win. I see no reason why they couldn't at least mount the spoiler back on the trains if nothing else.

Oh, and slightly off topic, but I feel this needs to be said. I'm sick of these people that keep saying the tire that came off narrowly missed hitting park patrons. I was there that night, I saw it happen, I was the one who broke the news on here. The tire was no where close to patrons as it came off on the lagoon side of the brake run and landed underneath Iron Dragon. The last time I checked, guests were not allowed to be anywhere near that area. I'm just trying to prevent a bunch of kids on these forums from sensationalizing this event.

But what could have happened if the tire on the opposite side of train had come off? Its not like there was some kind of safety device that made the tire fall on the lagoon side, it was just dumb luck.

Anybody have an idea of just how much one of those tires weigh?
I think someone here a while ago said they each weigh 150 lbs.
a tire flying off the car IS serious business, like RPMGuitar said, if it flew off the other side people could have been seriously hurt. i thought the tire falling off was a rumor, had no idea it was true.

do intiman rides scare you? wicked twister had structual problems which caused them to have to add supports, ttd lost a theme item and has been shut down for weeks and i think i read on this board about a mf support getting tweaked because of hands getting close to it. its almost as if they arent triple checking things. just build the next biggest thing, then worry about it not breaking later. seems careless to me. but then im getting old too.

cool the top thrill dragster going to open.
Eightdotthree, Just because they trimmed a support on MF a little does not make it any less safe. I think they trimmed it out because it was a close call. If people wouldnt TRY and hit it, then it wouldnt happen, they just did it because some people try and hit it, and if they do its their own fault.

But that's what the envelope test is supposed to discover when they use a crane to pull a car through the entire circuit.

I believe this is to test the range of motion of an average person to be sure that they won't be able to touch or hit anything while on the ride.

thats an interesting photo raptor.

you always have to design with the dumb in mind, if someone has the opportunity to do something, no matter how dumb it is, they will do it. not to mention young kids who just dont know any better.

if i try and hit the overhead structure on the gemini i cant. if i hold my hands up through the tunnels on the magnum i cant hit the top. thats how they were designed.

seems sketchy to me is all that they are making major mods after the ride has been running for awhile..

Yes, and if you ever watched the time-lapse video, you'd see they spent a lot of time on the pull-through with the car on that first turn around the modified support.

Even still, that's nothing compared to some of the Schwarzkopf rides. Zonga at Six Flags Marine World has OTSR's not to keep you in, but to keep your hands down and inside the car so you don't lose them.
