Well, we did ride it again and I took both suggestions, holding the bar underhanded and sitting in the middle. The underhand sugestion was great, no pain this time! I like the ride but it is a bit too rough for my personal tastes. If it were smooth it would be completely amazing. I know some would probably say that the roughness adds to it, I just tend not to like those rides. (ie, a lot of wooden coasters). I'll still ride it though. Magnum is one of the better coasters at CP, I think.
Hey FLGirl! So does that mean you won't be at CP today (Thursday) now? If not, how busy was Weds?
Anyway, the thing I've noticed about Magnum is the more humid it is, the rougher it is!! Ride on a drier day and it should be better. Either that or one of the train's sucks this year.
I guess next up is how to ride Maverick without pain! :)
Magnum isn't rough, it's intense with ejector air. The reason it seems more 'rough' on hotter days is because it's running faster, thus more ejector air.
As long as your seatbelt is tight, it shouldn't hurt too bad.
^^Mmmm...you're the former CP ride op who worked next door to Magnum for like 3 years...but it's seemed to me that on hotter and more humid days there's more lateral vibration through the hill valley transitions and pretzel turns than on days otherwise.
I can't imagine humidity having too much effect on the ride dynamics. Heat certainly would, but I'm not so sure about humidity.

Yep, we decided on Wednesday instead of today. The crowds did seem a little lighter than on Tuesday. Quite a few rides were walk-ons, but the big ones (TTD, MF, Maverick) were still a wait. The heat was pretty bad too, but we had a good day.
As for roughness, I actually kind of assumed that Magnum was rough because of it's age, or else because of the manufacturer (is it Arrow)? Seems to me they usually aren't smooth, but then again I am pretty spoiled.
Haha... Yeah, I was not a big fan of Maverick because of the pain... Seemed to me it was moving way too fast for the track, and if you slowed it down it would bang you around less.
Millennium Force at sunset is a beautiful sight.
