Down for the season?

You know, Cp is weird about giving reasons for rides being down. If it has been this long, its something alot more serious than a lousy transformer. It took THREE days to get TTD up and running after its beautiful cable disintergrated (no thanx to the wonderful half assed maintenance men"not all of them just a few, not mentioning any names *cough jerry cough*). Why did it take three days? because they didnt have anymore cables in stock and had to order them. TTD started its life with only one cable pulling the trains, now it uses two, and they are talking about adding a third, center cable to even lessen the stress on the others. "Thinks to himself, i wonder if it was Jerry who duct taped MF's cable this year...hmmm*
I remember someone saying Wicked Twister would open during Halloweekends. Has anyone seen it open yet??
Still down as of 9/25

TTD always had two cables to launch the train and a third lower cable to pull the catch car back into position. Xcelerator has the same thing. Also, didn't the maintenance get the ride back up the same day the cable broke last time. If I remember correctly it was late August and the cable broke in the morning testruns and the ride opened around 10pm. That's pretty darn fast. Don't dog CP's maintenance team. They do a great job keeping their rides up and running.

Hey Mike, if you value your current jonb at Cedar Point or you wish to get rehired, be careful what you say here.

Richland3FireFighter, you are an ignorant moron...It's not even worth your time to type something so ridicuously dumb.

Wait, are you positive it's down for the season? Did you ask anyone?

No, because he doesn't know.

They intend to reopen the ride "as soon as possible" the last time I asked.

When asking an employee a question, the answer you are going to get as a guest is what the park wants you to hear. The answer you are going to get as a fellow employee is what the truth is. You should be able to admit believing that.

Down for the remainder of the season? "More than likely at least six weeks repair time. I mean, you should see all of the cross-training I have been doing."

I was at the park yesterday, 9/26/04. While in line for the Dragster, I met a group of roller coaster enthusiasts (I don't know if they post here or not. I hope they do cause I'd love to talk with them again!). They claimed to have talked to some employees while they were there this weekend. I'm not sure who it was exactly, but they said that they know every ride op for their favorite rides, etc. But anyways, they said that the park is waiting on the parts to arrive. They hoped they would be in last week, but they weren't in yet, so now they're hoping this week. But they ARE hoping to have it running before the end of the season. So if the parts come in this week, they hope to have it up next weekend.

I know this is 2nd hand information, but these guys seemed to know their stuff:)

Nonsense. Seasonals don't know anything. If you ask the marketing people a direct question, they'll give you a direct answer. If they say they plan to get it fixed and reopen it, then that's what they plan to do.

Isn't that what CP intends to do with all their rides. When was the last time you read they were going fix a ride and leave it closed. Or not even bother with it. (This isn't Six Flags) CP has always been on top of fixing their rides.

It isn't like the local fair, either. I remember this past summer I asked when the ride would be up, and he said, "When it's fixed." I just said a smart ass comment and walked away.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Spoken like a true seasonal!

Perhaps you should work as a seasonal ride op and see what information really gets passed along before you make statements such as that "seasonals don't know anything."

i was wondering if anyone works in zone 1 that knows if you zone 1 sups are working HolloWeekends?

Please, Lil... I've been in that culture for years. I know what the score is.

Jeff, I have to disagree with you on this one. Although many seasonals don't know (or care) what's going on with the rides, there are several of us who work there and post on boards like these. We generally are more inclined to be interested in what's going on, so we ask around and find out. Sometimes there IS a difference it what the employees know and what PR decides to tell you.

I'm not sure if this is one of those cases, but it's illogical to discount everything a seasonal has to say in regards to privileged information just because they only work there for part of the year.

I'm sure there are many situations where the public does not hear the entire story, but are they required to hear the whole story? As an employee of the company, should you even be circulating "privileged information" around the internet? Many companies can and will fire you for such actions. Perhaps the park feels that information does not need to be released. Cedar Point has a public relations department for that exact reason. It tells the public what it thinks the public needs to or should know.
