Yeah... MS....
On my first ride ever, I was wanting them to 'taer 'er d0wn!!' before the end of the ride. Second time, I took the advice on her and sat in a better seat. Wow, the difference that makes. When the ride wasn't so painful, I really just thought the ride wasn't that interesting... That's just my opinion, of course, but I see others feel the same way.
You know, this past season I really learned to appreciate that ride! Sometimes it has its bad days and the next day your back is out of wack but it still is a lot of fun (especially in the front)! I do agree that those trims on the first hill should be removed but I think there must be a really good reason for them.
As for its future I think they should refurbish the track and get better seats like some Intamin wooden coaster trains. I know that Cedar Point seems to really like Intamin in the past few coasters and I think that might help make it a smoother ride. Yet I don't know if it needs to be smooth after all its wood right? That is why we have M.F. and Maggie. I.D.K., I think it might help.
I also agree that they should add something past that train. It seems almost pointless because all you have past the tracks is one ride. Kind of pointless in my opinion.
Just my thoughts, and sorry if I repeated whatever someone else said, I just didn't read all of the posts.

As far as the layout goes, I actually like it. I love flying through the structure and around the big helix way up in the air. If it was smoother and faster, I'd love it. Oh wait - it was. :)
I can't deny if you like the thing, but I will respectfully disagree that MS's layout is any good. I don't understand why the heck the ride takes me up 161' just so I can spend all my time meandering around 100' up in the air. There really are no helices on the ride, just a bunch of 180 degree turns. There are *maybe* two pops of air depending on where you sit. The ride never gets low to the ground and subsequently is awfully slow.
And then there's my all time favorite moment of Mean Streak, the RCT finale. Final break run...oops!...looks like we're a couple feet too high, let's drop you into the break run...plus if you're in the back seat you can be held in the ready breaks at an angle!
In the front the ride is fairly smooth (certainly augmented by the extreme trims), but what good is a smooth ride if it is horribly boring?
The fact that the ride is a snooze-fest will not encourage CP to get rid of it, however. I think that MS fits into a "medium" coaster category at CP. The thrill factor is not so extreme like on Maverick, Raptor, or Dragster and I think some people enjoy a ride that's not so intense.
Of course, this enthusiast is always ready for the next most extreme wooden coaster thrill out there...I say out with MS and in with Voyage ver 2.0!
I swear the last couple of times riding that it felt like it was rolling on square wheels. Call it a paint shaker or jackhammer feeling. That constant vertical pounding is unpleasant. Making the seat belt super-tight helps a bit.
It made me wonder if there is a traditional coaster train with a cushioned suspension. Can you imagine the seating portion of each car elevated above the chassis on 4 independent "monster truck" struts with several inches of travel? On unbanked parts of curves the train would heel over to the outside a couple of degrees, and would pop upwards on hill crests increasing the air time sensation. It would also smooth out the roughness without really redesigning the track.
I can dream, can't I?
Just say no to trims

"Paint shaker" is how I described Phoenix and Twister at Knoebels, only on those rides, you don't have the benefit of a seat belt to help keep you in place. Instead, you have a simple buzz bar that lets you stand almost straight up, thrusting your gut into the bar every time there's air (which is quite often). You spend most of the ride being thrown into the person next to you unless you vigorously grab onto the bar. It certainly wasn't my idea of a good time, but the people I was with loved it.
However, annoying as Phoenix and Twister were, I was never in outright pain like I was on Mean Streak. I rode MS this past May for the last time in my life, until it gets retracked or new trains. There is simply no point in putting myself through that again when there are so many superior coasters to choose from with equal wait times.
To each his own, and MS certainly isn't my own. :)

Let me rephrase.... I wonder if timsgirl24 is "real"... .most girls I know don't talk about their boyfriends enjoying the view of their mammary glands bobulating up and down whilst they ride rollercoasters.
How many other coasters could fit in Mean Streak's spot?
A dive machine, a euro-fighter, and another Maverick...
Gemini would be teared down before MS if you think of age.
Mean Streak could be there just for the nostalgia of a giant wooden coaster also.
Also what kind of person cares about a girl on the internet who talks about her boobs going up and down? She must be a real mature woman.
