Do you think Mean Streak will Be put to sleep in a few years?

Sorry if someone has posted this before. I think Mean Streak will become victim to new technology and eventually be torn down just, like WWL. It probaly be replaced with some mega coaster or some super cool thrill ride. I really like MS but there is never a line. Many people say they don't like it and that it gives them a head ache but if it was taken out people will be mad but will recover when the a cool new ride is put in. Does any one else think that MS will go in the near future?

No, I do not foresee Mean Streak leaving Cedar Point in the near future. Although over 15 years old, it's still a sizable asset. It still provides thrills to hundreds of thousands of people each season. It still looks amazing lit up at night.

While I like the ride, it was much better before the near stop on the first hill. Too much maintenance from stress to the wood I think...

When I was there in July it had about an hour wait.

I give it atleast another 10 years. It is a still a good coaster and as cedarpointlover said it looks great all lit up.

I don't think that MS is going to be removed anytime soon. It still draws a decent crowd. However, I could see it being refurbished, prehaps with some track replacement, in the near future. That could be the cure for its roughness.

How about relocating the entrance (so you don't have to cross CP&LE RR just to get to it) and putting a nice sign up at the entrance. Can that be done?

Mean Streak won't be touched for at least another ten years. Unless something like an freak accident happens.

Anyone got matches?

hahahh matches. =]

i think it will eventually get torn down. i really cannot stand those breaks on the first hill. it makes me really uncomfortable as im toppling over the edge and out of my seat. and the wood is very old. do they ever replace it ?

Yes Yes Yes, But if that happened everyone would talk about how much the miss it just like WWL!!! Just my thought.

I say tear it down and make a midway and move a few rides around that area and make a Flume Water Ride. Then there would be more land to make a Coaster somewhere in the Park.

I waited for 2 hours to ride it on October 20th. There certainly was a line that day.

MS is a great looking coaster whose ride disappoints. When I have been at CP with a friend who sees it for the first time, they are eager to try it, but afterward say they don't want to go on again due to the extremely bumpy ride.

I think the ideal solution would be to smooth out the ride and remove those first hill brakes, but I am guessing the price tag CP got for doing that was not in any way cheap. To date, they have obviously opted to use the money elsewhere.

I would bet they keep it and, at some point, pay the tag for an extensive renewal.

Don't count on MS leaving the Point any time in the near future.

I don't dislike the coaster as it is, but I would love to see it get refurbished. It has the potential to be a great ride, but with the trims (nothing like getting trimmed to almost a halt 150+ feet in the air, looking seemingly straight down, right?) and overall roughness, MS is just mediocre.

It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.

I think moving the enterance to MS would be beneficial to the success of the ride. It is really in the middle of nowhere behind a bunch of shops. Most people that don't look at a map (or don't know how to read them) aren't able to find it in my opinion.

2. Maverick

^Yes, the entrance should be moved. But to where? how can you move it across the traintracks? Well.. I guess a bridge kind of thing that goes over the train would work. But I don't think that they are going to do that for a crappy ride.

Mean Streak is fine. Yes, it can have its rough days, but if CP were to give this coaster a bit of rehab, and perhaps one less trim on the first drop, I'd ride it on every trip. It's long, and I think a lot of fun. I wouldn't count on it leaving anytime soon.

Thrills Around the Corner!

I love how people say this ride never has a wait. I don't ride it very often but my husband rides at least 3 times every time we go and it seems to be around 30 to 40 min at least. When we rode it in October we waited 2 hours. The green train seemed to be giving very smooth rides both times I rode it this year.

I have waited for the Mean Streak several times this season, mostly because Halloweekends was busy nightmare. Yes Mean Streak has its good days and its bad days. But even when it has its good days it is kinda lame and dull. At the end of the day the Mean Streak has nothing that all good wood coaster have, except ... well ... wood. Bottom line is this. It sits on a large footprint, and is not a good wood coaster. Personally, I would not mind if it got torched and reconstructed as a new wood coaster that takes up less space but packs the punch. Let Gravity Group design a new Mean Streak. They could make a tight ride that I think would have potental to be the best ride in the park, because right now I think nothing is better then The Voyage. So no I do not think it is going anywhere anytime soon. It is just wishfull thinking.

I love Mean Streak. I have a bad back and could ride that non stop without it killing my back. When i ride it i laugh when i hear people saying how rough it is.

SoakCity brought up letting the Gravity Group design a new Mean Streak.....I'm sure they could reuse the lift hill and first drop, station, trains and final brakes....they could build one hell of a woodie for not much money.

I love how folks want them to remove the trim brakes from the first hill. I remember riding that thing and really feeling some pain just in the turn around to the lift hill. If the trims weren't there, we'd all have to go to the hospital!

I figure in a few years, Mean Streak will tear itself apart. I still like the ride though...
