I wouldn't recommend to people who are thinking about doing US Bank direct deposit. I lost my bonus 2 years in a row to US bank and totalled in almost $2000 in lost money US Bank refuses to recover.
To explain what happened there, after my bonuses were deposited, boths years in a row, after a week or two, when I made deposits they would hold them for a week or two, while still processing my debits. Therefore I would end up with overdraft fees up the wazoo, and then at the end of the hold week or weeks they would then deposit the deposits. Also, another one of my problems was mysterious withfrawals to a fictional account were occuring. $50 to $100 a week.
I will admit if I goofed up and wrote a check and used my debit card. But if I deposit something, should it be deposited the next business day and not the next week or so? It did it that way for about a year for me. I complained to the branch manager she refunded me $200 that was it. I lost $2000. Then I made a complaint to corporate, who recognized the holds and the moving of money to a fictional account. They did nothing but say We're sorry.
Eventually I did stop using the account got a new bank. Wouldn't you know it, I haven't had any overdrafts......
So based on my experiences with US Bank, I would recommend not getting direct deposit if CP does it through US Bank.

Got to love a bank where you close the account, then 3 months later they try to nail you with $100 in charges because you've let you account goto zero.

After reading Robs post there, I hope my drama with US Bank doesn't continue, with a letter in the mail. I can see the letter now:
"Dear former US Bank customer:
We regret to informyou that there is a $70 dollar closing fee on top of your $0 balance producing a $33 overdraft fee. Also, due to your numberous complaints we have assessed a $200 complaint fee. Please forward $303 dollars to avoid further legal action. Please make it out to US Bank Pocket Change Fund.
Thank You, our lawyers will contact you shortly.
US Bank"
Anyways, Hearing other stories on how US Bank tries or has successfully taken someone money. It makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one.

Let's just say, because of all their fun "hidden" fees I now owe them over $800 and my credit rating has plummeted to levels I never thought possible :/... And all because I overdrafted by just over a dollar and no one cared to tell me about it. It wasn't even mentioned on my statements!!
I'm staying FAR away from US Bank this season, and starting a nice, SAFE, trusting account with National City (savings of course). I don't need to be yanked of my money whilst I save for my rollercoaster escapade in Japan next year...
Question, how come CP doesn't use National City, especially when they have NC ATMs in the park?! I never quite understood that whole thing...

I've had 5/3 every year since CP last used that bank in 2001. They're quite a decent bank, and the free checking and debit card (if you remember to always use it as *credit*, not debit ^_~) is rather handy. You can check your statements online so you don't have to change your permanent address where the paper statements are sent.
Obviously, I have to drive to take my checks to the bank, but it's quite close to the Sandusky Mall so if one doesn't have a car, one can walk.
I don't know about the other banks... I suppose they're good, but I don't have much experience with them. It might be good to choose a bank that has many locations where you will be living after you're done at the Point. That way you don't have to close out your account at the end of the summer.

The one thing I DID like about US Bank was the tellers were usually open until, what, 8PM? So you could always run in and do whatever teller transactions you needed to do!
Lee - Yeah, a few of us CP'ers are running off to Japan next March to hit the parks and do some cultural sightseeing (I'm suprised, LOL, it's been close to two years since my last trip to Tokyo. Used to go about two to three times a year when I lived in Hawaii!). So yeah, I need a good bank so I can save the money to pay for the trip, and have a little left over to go on a shopping spree in Shibuya and Akihibara :)!
