Came here just to say that Bud Light was never the better tasting of the two beers in my opinion. I’ve always been a bigger fan of Miller Lite, so this is a welcome change.
I like the selection at the Trail Tavern, they have had a decent selection of local and craft beers.
Love that place. It’s almost hidden and the atmosphere is really cool….love it during Halloweekends too!!! They had this Carmel apple hard cider from Michigan that was fantastic..
Just wanted to add an interesting anecdotal note to this. I thought of this thread when I learned this and wanted to share.
Have some connections to our local distributor's in my area and Budweiser dealers are having to cut routes and let employees go they've seen such a significant impact in Budweiser orders and demands. At the same time the miller and Coors distributors in the area are having to expand to keep up with the increased demand for their products.
Not very often I hear about one of these boycotts and also have connections to the industry in question to hear the impact. I'll admit I'm surprised the impact.
Still haven't been able to uncross these circuits...

I suspect that there would be a lot of overlap in a Venn diagram of homophobes and people who like ****ty beer. Just saying.

I don't think it's just the homophobes though. Bud Light really mishandled the initial homophobe response and in doing so aliened their LBGTQ+ customers as well. I don't see them recovering from this or if they do, it will be a very long time.
I had a draft Bud Light yesterday at the park. There was a stand across from Wind Seeker. Crisp and refreshing on a nice sunny day, like it always. And since I am not homophobic I guess I am in my own little circle on the Venn diagram.
I really think there is a whole iceberg there, and not just the Dylan Mulvaney video.
The marketing person in charge also called the beer’s image “Fratty” and “out of touch”. I’d imagine some people took personal affront to that, somehow.
The beer was the #1 selling beer in the US, and she said it was in decline and needed a boost. I think people were perfectly content with their beer until she tried to shift gears, and the shift didn’t work.
Oddly enough, the good that came out of this - distribution on a whole lot of other light beers that we didn’t used to be able to get around here has seemed to shift, and we actually have choices in the coolers.
And I would bet that most of them are, ironically, manufactured by companies that are open to all walks of life.
Just seeing this thread now. Supplier deals are long in the works and most likely were well before Bud Light made the questionable move. So no, I highly doubt CP made the switch because of the outrage.
^Shades, that's good to know. While I've been able find some BL cans at a few locations, I had not seen a draft anywhere this season. I'll check that out Sunday. Also not a homophobe so I guess there's at least one another in your group.
fritzer, you're absolutely correct. At the beginning of the season I was talking to a bartender. The park made a new agreement with Molson Coors over the off-season. That's why there's barely any InBev products there this year. It had nothing to do with the controversy.
If there has been a decline in sales, I certainly have not seen it in my little part of Central Florida. The bars/restaurants I go to still have them all on tap and are all still flying the large BL banners for deals on game days. I have also not seen any open space on the shelves at Publix/Target. Similarly, I have been to a few major stadiums this year around the country and BL seems to be doing just fine at those locations. So as someone who does not drink BL but does notice it where I go, there does not appear to be an impact from my perspective. Clearly sales will show a different story but I don't think it is nearly as bad as some make it out to be. InBev will be just fine after all this.
I don't agree with the bigot lifestyle. Bigot all you want behind closed doors, but don't try to tell me about your bigot lifestyle, or why you choose to live that way. I don't care. It is a choice that you made, and you have no right to push your bigotry toward me or my children.
One of my closest friends, who was also in my wedding, is a bigot. He confided to me that he was not naturally born that way, but he was nurtured by his hateful parents and family members and become a bigot. He was raised that way. He chose to continue the bigotry into his adulthood. He is still a bigot to this day, by choice.
Sit tight fellas ;)
I am disappointed by the people who don't take in life experience and knowledge to challenge their perception of the world and evolve. Instead, they double down on what they want to believe, regardless of how it affects others. Unfortunately, that seems to be a majority of people. As someone who turned 50 this year, I don't get it. The way I see it, I have fewer years in front of me than behind me. I can't see devoting energy toward marginalizing entire segments of the population (other than bigots themselves, obvs... they can fade into the shadows).
