Crazy things you hear while waiting in line...

I once heard these people say that there was a roller coaster called the gemanigh and two trains raced on it. I just rolled my eyes I and they were like You don't believe us so I said I think I would know if they had a roller coaster called the gemanigh, some people just think they know it all.
What really sucks is having a Dad who can never get the stats of the coasters right (the heights and speeds seem to change every time he tells someone about Mf or TTD) He's all (while looking at a picture of Dragster with Mf in the backround and showing his friends):

" Yeah this ride *pointing at Mf* is awesome...*looks at me* Hey corey how tall is this again like 302 ft.?"

"no dad its 310 ft."

" *looks back at friends* Yeah and it goes like 95 mph. right cor?"

"no dad it goes 93 mph"

" *looks back at friends* oh and this Top FUEL Dragster is like 409 ft."

"no dad its 420 ft. and goes one hundr-"

" *cuts me off and acts like he knows what he's talking about" 105 mph."

"sure dad whatever you say" :)

I've been hearing some stuff from the Lemon Chill guy lately, you wanna hear what he told me?

I know that feeling, my dad and i were at silver dollar city in missouri last year and he was like: "yeah, ya'll gotta go to CP, they got this new coaster called Top Thrill Something, and it goes 100 mph and its 400 feet tall." so i tell him what the hell are you talking about? Its Top Thrill Dragster and it goes 120 at 420 feet high. And he says: "oh yeah, that's the facts on it" it was really funny though b/c he was trying to act like he knew what he was talking about... again:)

I try to explain to people why gemeni isn't really a wooden coaster and half of them either ignore me or just don't belive me. But I get that all the time anyway :)

Yeah I've tried too. They go....look does that look like magnum too you? No its wood!

Then I tell them to look at the track and tell me if thats wood. Then I explain how it was made into a wooden frame.

Go Cubs! White Sox Suck!

parents are so funny sometimes. It is impossible for them to believe that there kid might be right about something and they might be wrong. *** Edited 6/15/2004 7:39:29 PM UTC by Kyle Fobe***

The one that just constantly blows my mind is how many people say the dragster uses a magnetic launch system. It really hurts my head to hear that. Gotta love the people that try to explain how the dragster works to his friend. One guy was talking about how it uses many different engines to propel it down the track, and the cable was just there for safety. The wannabes are awesome :D
I heard a new one the other day and this was a great one. Two guys were in front of me in line for Wicked Twister and the one goes to the other. "How long do you think this took to build?" And the other one responded with "2 weeks, maybe 3 at the most." Then they both proceeded to agree with 2 weeks because it was a short ride.

How about at Happy Friar, these kids in front of me saying "yeah, the guy who owns Cedar Point must be LOADED. I mean, this place has been here since the 50's, and they must see like 10 million people a day!"

I just kept to myself, as I always do.

I now remember why I did not renew my membership to ACE.

Honestly, I could care less about a 10 foot difference that people say. Or a couple miles an hour.

I think I will go outside for a 3:00am bike ride. I now realize that there must be more to life than this.

i agree with you completely james. some people in here are just crazy. laughing, histerically, at people who say something a little wrong or are off by a few feet. i was reading some of these "funny" quotes and found myself maybe actually laughing at the mistakes once. people, it's not that big of a deal, no need to make fun of people for not being obsessive like you are. there are more important things than talking about people who don't know about cedar point roller coasters. so why not realize that most people don't memorize coaster stats in their spare times and try and do something better with your lives.

This is ironic coming from someone who has posted all of four times, with three of those four posts being complaints about the park. Maybe it's time to take your own advice, Sparky...

And we're not making fun of people who are guessing at stats and getting them wrong. Most of these wannabes are spouting this babble claiming it to be the truth and arguing with those who disagree with them.

AMEN!!! HALLELUJAH!!! PREACH IT BROTHER!!!! :)

Getting stats wrong is not such a big deal, and certainly not worth anyones time to correct a few feet here or there or a few mph...but some of the things you hear just make you want to laugh! Recently it's been a lot of talk about what's new for next year. I'm impressed with the experts you spend time in line with, if it were only that easy to create an inverted 600ft 200mph super strata coaster thats blast you out over Lake Erie and back. I enjoy listening to other people, and thought it would be fun to share some of the craziness...thanks for those of you who agree and have played along! :)
One time while waiting in line for the magnum these teenagers who were like surf bums said "Dude look at this thing man it totally goes vertical and straight down!" And they were talking about Magnum! That made me crack up listening to that.

And I was Thriller way back when then I was Fan of LOTR but then the site moved and it screwed me up so now im back once again as Fat Man Tarkey if any of you remember me Hi. And Tarkey is my last name so just caall me by that.

"Thats when friends were nice, to think of them just makes you feel nice"

Hey dude surfer bums are awesome (concidering im one of 'em). Our lingo is totally wicked awesome, so dont rip on it. :) J/P

One of my great memories of CP was discussing crazy ride ideas with my cousin while in line for Demon Drop, like a Power Tower ride that shoots you up a track, then you fly off the top and a parchute opens to bring you down safely to Earth... or you'd just land in Lake Erie with no 'chute! We formed quite an audience that night. Some took it a little too seriously, though!

And you could easily have two trains for WT. If anyone is familiar with the Mr. Freeze coasters, they have two parallel sections of track that slide on and off circuit, so one can be loading while the other is doing it's thing. But I'd imagine it's not worth the cost or effort for such a quick ride.

By the way, hello to all! I'm new here! Visiting Cedar Point at least once a year since before I was a year old... not too shabby for a 25-year-old Cincinnatian.

How did you get that I was offending you? I was not ripping on the way you talk as a matter of fact I think it is totally knarly! But sorry if you were offended.

There was a man in the grandstands who said "If the launch sled fins do not come up after the launch, and the ride had a rollback, I wonder if the ride would crash"

The ones I hear all the time are how many people died on this ride or that. For Example:

A girl in line for Wildcat behind me was talking about how scared she was because this ride had killed "atleast 20" people over the years.

Someone in front of me in line for TTD informed me that I should spit out my gum ASAP (when we still were about 1 hour from the station) because one of his sister's friend's mother's aunt's grandaughter's (ect. ect.) died on TTD because she was chewing gum and it choked her. He then told me I should always keep my head back because another person he knew died when TTD broke his neck.

I always get next to the good ones in line for Demon Drop and Power Tower. One time a girl told me that the ride ops were terrible and I had to make sure my harness was secure because they don't check very well and went on to give me some insane number of people who flew out of their harness and died. Walking by Demon Drop I came across a conversation about how these girls refused to go on the ride because they knew someone died when their hair got stuck somewhere and the brakes didn't work one time and a train flew off the back.

One thing I want to know is where do these rumors start?
