A lot of major amusement parks already have franchises of popular restaurants, and the trend is also apparent with zoos and other entry-fee attractions. Muckmack, you really do make a good point, because it really is good business for all concerned. I'd be sad, however, to see ALL amusement park food disappear in favor of chains, because you can get that food outside the park. I'll take a slice of pizza from the Corral (on the Midway) over Pizza Hut any day, just because you can get Pizza Hut anywhere but Corral only at CP! (at least as far as I know of, I don't know about other parks)

Does anyone think this is part of the Boardwalk Project 2002-3?
Give it a rest exMFATL... there's no conspiracy. Don't hate the players, hate the game. When you only post to attack someone or say something negative, it doesn't lend itself well to your credibility.
I never played the game, and I can certainly understand the point in removing it. It's part of a larger industry trend. In fact, I happened to write an editorial about it on CoasterBuzz...

Well, I see once again, I have recieved my slap on the wrist for not playing nice. Mybe I shouldn't tell it like it is. I guess I should just join the majority, and glorify everything that Cedar Point, and it's shareholders', do, say and think, like everyone else. I just wonder when you are all going to read some otf the threads where people are complaining about having to pay for this and that, and realize that it's not about fun, and it hasn't been for a long time. Just one question......did Puff Daddy really write "It's all about the bejamins??? Or was it the shareholders for Cedar Fair?
Don't get me wrong, I love the park, and will probably be one of the fanatics that is there on opening day, but I'm only there to ride rides, and see my friends that are still working there.
It is what you make it, and I'm glad you have the sense to not work there if you hate it so much.
As an investor, I'm happy with the road Cedar Fair is traveling down. As a guest, I'm happy with the rides, the quality of service and the way I'm treated. In the big picture, that's all that matters, and that guest experience is about the fun.

I have a freind that refuses to eat at the Midway Market becasue he loved the Chicken Pation so much.
I am doing the same with Johnny Rockets I refuse to ever eat there. Even if I am a season pass holder for the next 80 years I will not eat, or drink there!

RIGHT ON!!!!
If I want to eat a dine at a place like Johnny Rockets, I'd just assume leave CP and go to Steak and Shake. I got in down to less than an hour to leave, eat and get back last year. You may spend just 45 minutes anyway waiting for a table at eating at the place, I'm sure it will be popular. The biggest reason though?
I'm not paying that much for a Burger at Johnny Rockets

I got a whole new perspective on the Johnny Rockets subject the other night... from my 10 year old daughter. She about went through the roof when I told her they were putting it in. She loves Johnny Rockets. (Of course, she isn't paying the freight for those expensive burgers, either)
The point is, she's only dimly aware of what Fascination is/was. She only played the game a few times, when I wanted to spend some time there. It holds no golden place in her heart as a Cedar Point tradition. It was then I truly realized that I was getting a bit older, and that I was beholding the future. My 10 year old is becoming a member of Cedar Point's target market. I'm not the market-segment CP is courting. She is.
Tradition is a fine thing folks, but money talks. The next time you see a Fascination table at Cedar Point, it'll be in the Town Hall, next to the Gypsy Fortune teller.

Ahhhh, the Gypsy Fortune Teller. Drop in a quarter and out comes your fortune. Last time I did that it said "ask the lemon chill guy."
I like the new addition but, sadly another tradition is washed away. Every time I go by there I'll think about the memories and the long shot chance I had of winning that darn game.
I really wanted that cool dolphin coffee table they had.
Interesting...
My Daughter is 5 yrs old and she has been to CP the last two years and she is upset that Mommy's favorite game where she "rolls the balls" is gone. She has some reservations on her feelings for Cedar Point and that is surprising for someone that young.....
I've never eaten at a Johnny Rocket's before, so I guess it will be a first for me. I never played Fascination, so I'm not sad to see it go.
P.S, Doesent Johnny Rocket's require Coke products for all their franchises? If so, has CP switched to Coke products yet(being the big Coke fan I am)?
Why not bring in franchises? Years ago at CP, all the food places were privatly owned until the early 70's i believe! The way i look at it if you bring in a franchise, is it less of a headache for Cedar Fair?
Is the Johnny Rockets going to be a franchise or a concession?
If it is a franchise, then it is owned and operated by Cedar Point, in accordance with a licensing agreement with Johnny Rockets.
If it is a concession, then it is owned and operated by Johnny Rockets, in accordance with a concession agreement with Cedar Point.
Franchises have certain advantages for an operation such as Cedar Point, in that they get to bring in established brands and established product. They can also produce headaches in trying to comply with the requirements of the franchise.
Concessions have certain advantages as well, in that the basic hassles of operating the business are the responsibility of the concessionaire rather than the host business. Provided that the concessionaire does what he's supposed to do under the concession agreement. Concessions are why certain Kings Island's food joints (notably the take-out Chinese place and the delicatessen) don't ever seem to be open, for instance.

This is just a guess, but I would think it is a franchise. Just like the TGIF's, former Hardees and former ice cream brand (forgot which one) at the former causeway Coasters. I do believe that CP likes to be the owner/operator.
