CP to open Johnny Rockets

Shakes, Malts, Burgers, Fries, and Heartburn!
They also have flavored Cokes.

Look at me, I predicted Hothitz's question!! how in the world did that happen. Did the server go back in time?

what does there menu consist of?there is a johnny rockets not too far from me,but I've never been there.
I must say I'm devastated. My mother always played Fascination - she can't stand rides, so she'd save up all year to be able to play for the whole time we were on vacation. I wasn't happy with Coasters when it replaced Paddlewheel Cafe, because of the outrageous prices (yes, I know amusement parks are pricey, but this was TOO high), and this could be very similar. I've never been to a Johnny Rockets, but considering CP has several other seated restaurants, I think they would have done better to keep Fascination - there is no other sit-down, indoor game. I know a lot of days it wasn't too full, but there were lots of days too where you couldn't get a seat. I am very disappointed, and like you, Magnum 1989-, I won't eat there either. There's no other CP game that I play, and I do hope that they do fashion a redemption plan for ticket holders, like Dan mentioned.

CP does what's right for profits and what will make the greater number of guests happy, and there can be no doubt that this is a move in that direction. But Fascination gave CP character, as
Dan stated, "another fine Cedar Point tradition is lost." You couldn't say it better.

This month's POLL: CP Games - let's get the vote out for FASCINATION!
Straight from the article on CP's own webpage:

"Guests who have enjoyed Fascination and saved their coupons over the years will be able to redeem them for prizes at Cedar Point's arcade on the Main Midway. There will be no expiration date for redemption."

So it seems people wil be able to redeem their tickets.
Well that's a good thing. :)

There's a Johnny Rockets just a few miles from my home, in a mall. I'm not really thrilled with the idea of going into Cedar Point and seeing the same type of things you have in cities everywhere. Fascination was a great game and will be greatly missed.

Johnny Rockets is different from Coasters in that Coasters is a basically a fast food operation where Johnny Rockets is a sitdown restaurant with waitress service. If CP is renovating the Oceana midway into a boardwalk, I can see how Johnny Rockets will fit into that theme. That is, if the boardwalk extends that far.

I have very mixed feelings on this, I'll have to wait and see how CP redevelops that area of the park in the next few years.
True, it could be the first of many different developments for that area of the park. Other than the changes to Kiddy Kingdom and relocating the Giant Wheel, there hasn't been expansion there in years.

The Poll: CP Games. One last chance to vote for FASCINATION!
What does this mean for the large neon signs above the games though? Does anyone know what they are doing to those?
A 40s-50s theme could easily incorporate them, if they wanted to. But as for the building not being that big, are they taking out any of the smaller games booths on either side?

I never played the game and I thought about making some extra time in 2001 to play it. Maybe we could save it? Maybe not? Remember Steel Phantom?? It was saved in a way. Fascination IS a CP traditon it's one of the best games for people that don't like the rides (I heard). Well maybe someone can start something kinda like "SAVE FASCINATION." Yet the Johnny Rockets sounds pretty kool and yet it will always be crowded like coasters but since CP can't get parts for Fascination (so they say) I guess we will just have to deal with it. Another option I can think of is to just keep it this year and wait till 2002 for the Johnny Rockets because I know everyone wants to play it one last time and I think that would be a great idea to keep it one more year!

just ~50~ miles away from the greatest amusement park in the world!! *** This post was edited by JPointer on 3/6/2001. ***
Pete, are you from strongsville?
What is the point of another 50's style diner in the park, especially if they are practically within seeing distance of each other?

Is the new thing at Cedar Point going to be franchised restaurants on the midways? How long before we get a Wendy's or McDonalds like at some other parks...
I definitely don't like where this is going...

And yes I realize that there is a TGIFriday's on the premises, but that is technically outside the park.
Six Flags Worlds of Adventure has Fasination. Not sure if it is the same though.

Ally_Cat, no, I'm from Richmond Hts. There is a Johnny Rockets at Beachwood Place Mall, just down the road from me.
Old traditions can easily be replaced by new traditions.

RPerz does raise a good point. I wonder if we're just starting to see the beginning of amusement parks (Cedar Point included) going into the business of bringing franchises of major restaurant chains onto their properties. It has to be a tempting thing to the management of the parks and the management of the franchise companies. The restaurant chains get high volume locations where they can charge higher than normal prices, and the amusement and theme parks get restaurants that are well-known to all Americans and many international people. They both can benefit from sharing the profits of these special franchises, it's definitely something that can be a win-win situation for all business parties involved. I'm not sure if I think it's good or bad to have this happen, but it's definitely a possibility that we're just starting to see the beginning of these franchises in parks.
I'd hate to think of a Johnny Rockets charging higher-than-normal prices at their in-park location. I ate at one here in Columbus exactly once, dropped something like $10 for not nearly enough food, and promptly proclaimed it the "Worst Burger Value in Town."

Do you think that the "orange track pieces" might have something to do with this restaurant? If you know what thread I am refferring to...
Maybe they would IF they weren't the old track pieces from the Coasters restaurants off point that they took off recently and are currently chilling in the parking lot by Breakers....but who knows recycling old parts saves money :)

"recycling old parts saves money".......it also keeps more money in Dick Kinzel's wallet, that he could be giving to deserving employees.
