Ouch...that hurts-and Hey! it completed the circuit! It just opened a year late-and was a 4 hour line-...and some of you guys are willing to wait 7...whats the big deal? Its still a sweet ride. I dont expect a response...just saying.

I cant believe only 5 days till TTD opens.

That wasn't a dig on MM, everyone has troubles with things, no ones perfect. it was just meant to explain the dissapointment of ppl waiting for X to open and not. I mean atleast the ride itself works, who care about some lights, we still get to ride! and yes X is an awsome ride. tho i haven't been on it yet i know alot of people who have and have heard nothing bad about it. Can't wait to get to MM next summer, or winter.

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!

So, just out of curiosity, to those who attended media day: Is the Christmas tree up for the launch, and are the lights on the tower?

That remains the theming element I most look forward to.

Wingnut, if you're talking between a Pro tree and a Full tree, Pro tree lights the 3 top yellow lights at once, then the green. The time between the 3 top and the green is .400 seconds. A full tree drops one yellow at a time, down to the green. The time is measured between the bottom yellow and the green, and it is .500 seconds. My guess is the Full tree, but I think the Pro would be more fun. :) Yeah, I've been to the drag strip a time or two...

Hmm, I don't know about a "Pro" tree being much more fun. I think it'll be more antagonizing watching those lights count down one by one. Kind of like waiting to drop on Power Tower, except now you'll have a count down. Ooooh, I'm getting the chills......

Using those descriptions the tree on Xcelerator is a Full Tree (if I remember correctly). I'd expect TTD's to be the same style.

mk468zz, just so you know, they do NOT have the christmas tree installed yet, nor do they have the lights on the ride itself... but it's almost just as fun with only the smoke and sound.

Smoke? I haven't heard or seen that before. Any pics anyone?

Although I wasn't there today, I can tell you that there is a fog machine under the launch track that makes "smoke" when the train launches. I was also told there would be a large speaker making sound effects.

Also, I don't know what the deal with the tree lights is, but when I saw Dick Berry ride with Paul Ruben on Toledo 11, it sure looked like they were watching something before the launch.

UCSigep, thanks for answering my question. I have seen both "Trees" on TV, now I know the difference. Thanks again.
No problem Wingnut.

(prepare for more drag racing talk...)
If I were doing it, I would have it roll up and light the pre-stage lights, then the staged lights. Then drop the 3 lights and go. I like PT because you don't know when it's going, catches you off gaurd. DZ at PKI you can count and know when it drops, but I think it's more fun being surprised.

Someone mentioned about speakers?? What all is coming from these?? Is it a car burning out? And if it is, do you think that the sound of the car will be that great or realistic?? Just wonderin.... thanks

The sound effect is a very nice touch. The "engine" starts rumbling as soon as the train leaves that station, with the occassional revving of the engine. When the train launches, you hear the squeal of the engine and tires peeling out. Funny thing is that's the only way you know anything is happening when you're deep into the queue.

I noticed even the reving is done by the ride op. She seemed to be getting a little excited. :)

The sound effects sound like a nice bonus. After watching a few of the news videos online I am in awe over the noise that Dragster makes. It sounds like a jet taking off! My sorry computer speakers just get all distorted and makes it sound even more unreal. ;)

Are the christmas tree lights operational yet?

------------------
Current Coaster Count: 89

As of yesterday only ONE of the lights on the tower (it looks like there will be 8 of them) was installed. Another was sitting on the catwalk next to where it's being installed. I did not see the other lights.

The smaller tree next to the launch track is not operational yet, either. The smoke machine was not operating yesterday.

yeah, whatever happened to the smoke they were supposed to have (or did have on media day)? I was there on opening day and on 5/9 - both times there was no smoke.
I'm guessing they didn't use it so the ride ops could concentrate on learning to operate the ride smoothly and closer to interval.
