I have a glasses strap for rides that "require" them, but I still maintain that properly-fitted glasses won't go anywhere, and a strap actually INCREASES the chance of them flying off (because there's something to get snagged to pull the glasses with -- the only time I came close to losing my glasses was when my friend put his hands up and caught the strap I'd put on to keep the rideops at SFA happy...)

Greg is absolutely right. I've been bespectacled for about 22 years now, and have only had my glasses come off twice on rides.

Once was on a Rock-O-Plane. The neck cord I was using at the time flew over my head and caught on a protrusion inside the tub. Because of that incident, I don't use the cord anymore unless the park demands it.

The other time was on Iron Wolf at Six Flags Great America. The ride was over, and my glasses got jammed in between the ridges on the shoulder bar; when the bar released and flew up with extreme force (I was barely able to fit under it) it grabbed my glasses and took them with it. The neck cord wouldn't have helped, and an elastic band would have either damaged the frames or ripped my head off.

If you don't want to lose your glasses on a ride, the very best thing to do is make sure they fit properly!

Maybe we all need to ask Tony about his little Oakleys incident riding his "baby" last season! You'd think with so many rides in and knowing his "baby" he could keep from losing his glasses!! ;)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that? :)
