Contacts?

As you stated you have disposables, two things, as suggested before, carry solution w/ you, for moistening. As backup, keep a fresh set of lenses, and besides, nothing is better after a long day at the point than a fresh set of lenses :) in my opinion the best time to change them.

I'd be surprised if they let you wear anything on your head, i.e. hats, glasses.

Well, I know that if they don't permit glasses on the ride, I won't be riding.

Personally, I think at that kind of speed, unless they do something Magnum-esque with the train aerodynamics, some form of eye protection ought to be required, or at least recommended in the strongest possible terms.

They won't fall out. They won't dig into your eyes. Take a bottle of drops with you. I've done this for years and have never lost one lens. I take my glasses, contact case and drops and leave them in my car in case of a problem. The smart thing to do would be to wear a pair of sunglasses (with a strap if you want). Oh!...and don't forget to blink! =)

I had a contact rip in half from a mayfly on Millennium Force. I really dont think theres anything to worry about, you may just want to squint a bit.

I wore contacts, no glasses, on a Honda Hurricane. Wound that baby out, too. When the ride was over, my eyes were watery, as opposed to dry. They were over compensating for the inherent dryness from the wind. The human body is an amazing piece of equipment. If you have dry eyes, try walking into the wind for a few minutes. You won't need wetting drops then.

BTW: Hoda Hurricane 650= 175mph just as fast as you can shift it without flipping it over on yourself.

Maybe get those sport goggles that basketball players have, would work good for contact people, and they usually have a strap.

Looking at some of the train images, the lead car looks like it will deflect air up and over passengers.

Im far from blind, but I agree with Dave Althoff. I certainly wouldnt enjoy riding it without my glasses. Maybe I'll buy one of those bands for them. Sure I'll look nerdish, but Im ok with that, at least during the ride.
They will not fly out. They are made to act like a suction cup to your eyes and it is very hard for them to fall out.
I don't go anywhere without my glasses, and at CP, glasses help keep my eyes from watering. I've had ride ops question whether or not my glasses are secured (they are) and as long as I have my strap, life is good. For the girls out there, straps can be hidden a bit under a ponytail or braid. I'd rather look a bit dorky and be able to see where I'm going.

Are glasses allowed on MF?

I've been asked to remove my glasses both on WT and MF. I believe anyone who has a secure strap on their glasses is allowed to ride.

I have a glasses strap for rides that "require" them, but I still maintain that properly-fitted glasses won't go anywhere, and a strap actually INCREASES the chance of them flying off (because there's something to get snagged to pull the glasses with -- the only time I came close to losing my glasses was when my friend put his hands up and caught the strap I'd put on to keep the rideops at SFA happy...)

I know what you mean! I can't see sh** without my glasses! And I would like to enjoy the view looking down at MF. The only way for me to do that...is to wear my glasses.

Note to self: Never try to explain things to the GP!

But Greg, is there anyway an operator can have relative assurance that the glasses are "properly-fitted"? I find that a strap (especially of the Croakies variety) works just fine and if you have any sembelence of longer hair (I do not) then it is quite easily concealed (if you fear looking like a choad). Hell, I've had ops not spot mine and my hair hasnt been longer than an inch in several years.

And of course greg, if your friend had been holding on like the signs tell you....:)

I have never lost a pair of sunglasses on any ride I've ever been on, and I buy those cheap $10 designer knockoff mall kiosk sunglasses. People are just paranoid.

I wear contacts too, by the way, and my eyes are sensitive to sunlight so I wear my sunglasses whenever I can. It annoys me when the ride ops make me take them off.

It is annoying, especially for those of us who wear glasses, but the rules are for safety reasons as well. Getting hit by a pair of flying glasses at high speeds can hurt.

My glasses have yet to even come close to falling off, but if you were to turn your head sideways, the force of the air could easily knock them off. It makes sense.

In the Season Pass info sheet they sent me with my pass, it says, "Glasses must be secured by a retaining strap on Wicked Twister and Power Tower or they cannot be worn on the ride". I'm assuming that they haven't updated it for TTD.

I wear gas perms and have never lost one, even riding front car of MF, although they do sometimes feel like they want to pop out. I always wear my sunglasses on rides (with an official CP strap) I too have wondered if they were going to allow people to wear them on TTD. I hope so! My solution is I have an extra pair of contacts with me just in case one escapes.
I recall our own webmaster Jeff's wife lost a contact (soft?) on MF 2 years ago so it DOES happen!!

I wear Acuvue 2 lenses, and those things are rock solid on the eyeball. You won't have to worry about them falling out.
