Commons

Hey all, just wondering, is Commons considerer "on point"? Or is "on point" just referring to Cedars? Im planning at the park on working in 2 years and everyone says not to live on point. but a friend of mine Rollocoast lived in Commons and said it was alright.

Cedars and Gold are considered "on-point" ..

And looking forward to more!!!

COmmons is Off-Point.  On point is anything that is literally on the point.  Like Cedars or Gold.  Commons and Bayside are at the intersection of first street and Cedar Point Drive (The Causeway) and since they are on the actual mainland not the peninsula they're considered off-point.  It's easier to think of geography when trying to name on point or off point.  I hope that was helpful.  Commons is a great place to be.  Air-conditioning, and a great community environment.

Good, I think I'll plan on living there.

OK. Can someone tell me the deal with living on-point? It seems everyones against it, and Im getting the feeling that it's not just because of the conditions...anyone care to explain?

I'd Rather Not Kozi.

Any Takers?

"Trumpy You Can Do Stupid Things."

On point housing is very isolated, among other things Kozi. It's nice if you don't have a car and can't get off point much anyways or if you're underage and don't want to go to the bars, but other than that it's not that great. Plus, you live pretty much inside the park. That can get very old after awhile.

Hey, yes yes yes, sometime the rumors are true, and yea they are in this case, but I suppose I should give a shout out that most "happy" guys are normal individuals who keep the "happiness" confined to their respective rooms and not on public display in the showers at 3am. Just food for thought! :-)

Hey JaysonHolloway, those "happy" guys as you say, don't always keep their "happiness" confined to their rooms, they have shown their happiness on public display, !
Ok. I'm trying to decide on Commoms apts or dorms. Any thoughts? anyone? I dont really like the idea of living with 15 other people, but I am a partier;). But, Ive heard the heat gets bad. So anyone care to go over the pros/cons for me? Also, are you allowed microwaves in commons dorms? Any help would be much loved. Thanks!

Hey Tiger Eyes...

I didnt say ALL are like that, I said MOST, or at least the ones with "tact" and "decency". Generally the ones trying to make a public display are so uncomfortable with themselves they know no other way to get "satisfied", other than through a vagrant display. Im sure if there are any other "happy" people out there on the forum they would tend to agree with me. Also, Tiger, Have you ever witnessed this type of activity? and if so, what were you doing in the shower at 3am watching it? hmmm?

Well being a "happy" guy I can say I've always kept my "happiness" under wraps except for some PDA at big bash, never lived in Cedars but I did hear about it. I've always lived In Commons and I'd much rather stay "happy" in my room then in the power shower.

Oh........and the stories of Cedars live on.....

I've lived in both the apts. and dorms Kozi......

Apts.......nice if you know the other 14-15 people you'll be living with. I had a blast in 905 back in 2000, but I knew and trusted all the roommates. As far as the heat goes, these places get up to god awful temperatures during the summer without much relief. If you go with the apartment, try to get the single or bottom bunk, being lower to the ground will make things much more comfortable. Also i had a standing fan next to my bed, and a clip on fan clipped on my headboard. Leave those running all day and night, and its not too awful. Living area is much larger and its much more a place you can chill.

Dorms.......Much better if you only know a few people to live with, and the kicker is the fact they have A/C. The A/C was so wonderful this last summer, never had to worry about being too hot to sleep. Only problems.....public bathrooms (private stalls both shower/toilet) which tend to get gross by night time......and the rooms are very small....I, however, did not live in my room that much.......just to sleep, and occassionly watch some T.V. I spent most of my time at the bars or at the picnic tables at Commons.

Your decision really depends on which is more important, living space or comfortable temps...........

Oh, and btw........i'm pretty sure microwaves are allowed.....we had a microwave and a fridge in our dorm room. If they weren't allowed........oops

The only perk living on point for "happy" people, such as myself, was the immense proliferation of fellow "happy" people who did non-sexual "happy" things, like go to the club and have "happy" parties (without sex-- I don't want to perpetuate unfounded stereotypes.) I think it depends on what is more important--easy access to work and wardrobe or easier access to a non-Cedar-Pointish social life. Also, consider the other HUGE factor involved--air-conditioning. If you cannot sleep in the heat, then don't even think of lodging in Cedars or Gold.

A shout out is in order for all my fellow "happy" GTTPers. Sup?!

I am loving the use of the term "Happy" in here, that's just too cute. I had to comment.

Switched rides already, from Cedar Downs to Blue Streak 2002

RaptorBoy (i gotta stop mixing people up..this is just getting ridiculous), don't forget about the ride prides that come in at the beginning of and the end of the season and turn the dorms into their own personal nightclub. I liked Commons dorms (but that's because I had one to myself....hehehe) but at the end of the season, housing saw it fit to make my floor in 1300 a co-ed floor. The first night those frat boys were there I did not sleep well because they were so loud. So if you can deal with a lot of noise from fraternities in May and June and then from August until October, then go for the dorms. Otherwise go with the apartments or on point dorms.
