CoasterMania 2018

The itinerary is out.

I wish that there was night ERT on SV, but otherwise, it's looking like a solid event. I'm looking forward to this year, especially since they're staying with selling limited tickets.

^My guess is they want to try to keep the night ERT all in one area? Probably helps get enthusiasts out so needed employees can get home faster. Notice how all the morning ERT rides are in the back, as well.

One peculiar thing I noticed was that the main gate opens an hour before ERT officially starts. Has it always been this way?

I'm pretty sure it has. It's just a way to prevent a mad dash at the gate right at 6am. Same reason why you can get into the Main Entrance at around 8:45am on a normal day but the rope drop on the Main Midway (or fence drop, I guess) won't be until 9am sharp.

Interesting that they flipped a lot of ERT times. Also interesting that since everything starts back in Frontier Town, they are still having registration at the Main Gate instead of the Resorts Gate. Hopefully they will let us back that way before ERT starts to cut down on the running of the bulls. Coasterstock has an option this year to have shirt, lanyard & credentials, etc mailed to you ahead of time. Wonder if CP will do the same?

ROUNDABOUND.

Oh man, having to run all the way from the Main Entrance to Frontiertown for ERT. I mine as well sign up for the 5K.

If we're expecting SV lines to reach 2-3 hours, how long after park closing would you have to wait before night time ERT could start?

^That's true.

I forgot - in 2016, did Valravn have ERT at night or morning? By that logic, it should have been morning, but again, I don't remember.

Valravn

Hmm, that kinda stinks that SV won't get as much ERT in opening year as Valravn. But at least it gets the morning ERT, which is far preferable to an evening ERT that gets shortened by waiting for the main line to empty. (I'm sure there will be ride nights on SV too, so it's not like this is the only ERT on SV anybody will ever get.)

I regard the just published agenda as tentative. With Coastermania just a month after season opening, when has a new ride been totally problem free ? I anticipate schedule will change sometime during the first month of operation to allow time for printing of the ID tags.

^Shoot the Rapids was still on the tags at CM 2010 despite the ride not being ready yet, if memory serves.

Coastermania 2017 was a super blast, can't wait for this years.

Spent over 19 hours in the park.

The walk back to Lighthouse Point from Maverick was the longest walk I ever had.

Bring on 2018!

I’m very interested in going to Coastermania in 2018 (if I can get tickets) and have a few questions.
1. What is the max wait time during ert?
2. Do they allow rerides if no one is in line to get in your row?
3. Is it possible to get a zen ride?

Those are just a few questions I have about the ert and I hope I’ll get to go!

I can only answer #2, and that is dependent on the ride crew. Some crews will allow it, some won't.

2015 - Ride Host: Shoot the Rapids 2016 - Team Leader: Ripcord/Challenge Golf 2017 - Supervisor: Thunder Canyon 2018 - Supervisor: Camp Snoopy 2019 - Supervisor: Power Tower

I know on a normal day it depends on the ride crew, my family and I have had some issues with that, it’s really annoying when no one is in line and they make you go around for each ride. What’s the purpose?

^"Health and safety", probably. That's why when they do allow it, they usually only allow a limited number.

(All Six Flags parks except SFNE and the one coaster Titan at SFOT allow unlimited rerides if the row is empty, and the fact that CP is picky about that is one of my biggest pet peeves about the park in general, even though I love it.)

Let's hope the ride crews are nice at CM, though. I do recall it's happened in the past that they will permit rerides. But it's not guaranteed.

What is a "zen ride"?

And how do I get one...

Promoter of fog.

Zen ride is slang for a ride where you're alone on the train. It would be highly unlikely during CM! ERT unless you're at a ride literally nobody else is at, which is unlikely considering SV is only paired with Maverick in the morning and all the rides in the evening have at least some appeal.

Some events like HWN actually auction off zen rides at night on Voyage. After night ERT ends, if memory serves, they'll send people around one at a time.

That sounds depressing.

Alone? Why?
