Dara, it's a great event for kids. We're taking our 7 year old grandson this year... he just hit 52". I suppose that height could be more of a limiting factor, as during the ERT there is only the few rides open, and if she couldn't ride it would be disappointing.

Statman, I doubt the Season Pass Center will open before 9:00, but I would recommend calling them and explaining your situation.

We will be staying at the Breakers. For the early morning entry, can we enter at the Breakers entrance or do we need to go to the main gate? Also, is there a shuttle from the Breakers to the main gate (at that time)?

I stayed at Breakers 2 years ago. The resort entrance was open for early Coastermania ERT. We took a shuttle to the front of the park but it wasn't in the morning.

I'm planning on going, but don't know if I should now because everytime I plan a trip to Cedar Point, It rains. It's probably going to rain on Coaster Mania as well.

Thanks chain dog! She's content with marathoning MF and Gemini so it should be worth it!

Another question, since we are novices and guest services had no clue today, what time should we get to the park on the 7th to register? 7am early enough? Thanks for all the advice!

I like to get there 15 minutes early. We'll show up at 6:45. Some people like to get there really early, and it could be really packed with a new ride opening, so that could make sense.

You never really know until that morning.

Hey, I'll have to work Friday morning, I'll be able to get to the park around 2-230. Would I still be able to register at that time?

I would assume so. Because it's on a friday, some of the attendees work and don't arrive until the evening for the late ERTs'.

I'm in Columbus and heading up tonight. Will this year's Coastermania be coated in muffleheads, as it often is, or are they late this year due to the weather? Haven't seen them mentioned in trip reports from the last few days.

Do you mean mayflys? They were everywhere tonight. If your mouth was open on a ride, you ate a half dozen!

We are excited for tomorrow for our first one! Warmed up tonight with a couple maverick, MF, and mine ride rides!

Was there from just before 7:30 am till 12:30 pm saturday. Good ERTs'. Free doughnuts and coffee in early morning. Coastermania GateKeeper pin and fleece jacket($40) were good 'give-aways'. Had better free lunch menus at past coastermanias, not complaining. Announced at lunch that there was over 2000 attendees. Overall a good coastermania !

How many CoasterMania events have there been? I started going in 2007 but always wondered when it started.

I thought is was a nice event as always and I knew there would be a large crowd. I got there about 9 and they were already out of those events cards. The lunch food offerings could have been better but I can see why they chose the foods that they did. Still I missed the chicken. But the jackets and pins they gave away were great. The nighttime ERT had enough rides opened that the lines were not long on any of them. I rode every ride during the ERT but Mean Streak. I had rode it earlier in the day and once a day for that for me is enough.

I wonder if this years Coastermania was the largest ever? Does anyone know?

I think the first Coastermania actually was in 1978 but was much different than the ones today. I think the Coastermania of today was born in 1989 when they held "Magnum Mania" to celebrate new coaster. I don't know if they planned to make it an annual event back then but I am glad they did.

My daughter had the time of her life! We did a few ERT runs on MF and Dragon and then rode everything she could on late ERT minus mean streak. It seemed like the late ERT went much smoother then the morning one because of the fine mist we had. All in all, we had a great first coastermania and can't wait for next year!

Oh and we had no clue there would be a gift. Genius on CPs part to give out jackets with zippers. Best. Freebie. Ever.

looking back into my archive of stuff, the 1998 coastermania flyer was billed as the 10th coastermania. 2013 is 25th coastermania.

the 1999 coastermania was a celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the Magnum.
