Coastermania 2013

I know this is off-topic of Cedar Point, but do they have an event similar to Coaster mania at Kings Island? I would love to attend that as well. Plus, I missed the behind the scenes tour of The Beast last year because of work and expired vacation time.

They did a park sponsored event event in 2009 called Ride Warrior Weekend. It was scheduled to happen in 2010 and then was canceled early in the year.

Coaster Crew will be doing an event there this year. You best bet to stay on top of the KI happenings is to check out www.kicentral.com

Wish they would bring back the midway games again. That was so much fun to participate in and the other events and speakers. Seems as though it has toned down quite a bit the past years. But still a great event.

It was only a 2 day event for a couple years. Those were the only years that had the midway games and speakers. To say the event has toned down would require you to ignore the many years preceding those.

Okay finally saw the events page for coastermania. I am a member of ACE, but what exactly are the qualifications to go to this event. I never had to think about it because I always had my ACE card. But I have some friends that want to attend who are not members of a coaster club.

You are allowed to bring one guest who is not part of a club.

That is what I thought, that is how it has been as long as I have been going. But if you look on their events page it doesn't say anything about being part of a club to participate so I was wondering if they had changed it.

I spoke with Bryan about that. He indicated they were looking to make that more clear. He said it's the same as it's always been.

Whoa glad to hear that. I was afraid that if they didn't keep it the same the park would be so crowded and the event not worth going to anymore. We already have our room booked..can't wait :)

Up to and including 2001,3 guests were allowed. Starting in 2002,only 1.

Jason, I was just wondering. Are you sending new packets for re-instating GOCC memberships? I could have sworn you sent me something about that on here in my Inbox, but I cannot find it.

Currently snail mail. We may be rolling out e-renewals soon.

I am going to my 1st coastermania this year. How crowded do the ERT's typically get? Anything like GK media day? I expected much longer waits for media day, pleasant surprise and it was fun to be around fellow coaster lovers. Thanks!

In the GateKeeper media day thread,it was posted that 1100 people were registered for that event, and that was for 4am - 7pm with not everyone arriving at once due to work schedules. At times when riders were breakfasting or lunching,GateKeeper lines were non-existent.

A couple years ago at the Coastermania luncheon,it was announced an attendance of 2200,so there can be long lines. Morning ERT lines have been typically shorter than evening ERT lines.

This'll be my 18th consecutive Coastermania.

Thanks Dennis!

I have friends coming up from Florida for Coastermania. It will be their first time to CP. Last week, I went for the first time since FastLane was introduced, and couldn't believe how much longer the "stand-by" lines were.

In your expert opinions, will we have any problems riding all the coasters on the day of coastermania if we use the ERT wisely, or should I suggest that we get FastLane?

Last edited by Alex T,

I leave 2 weeks from today to make my way to the point. This will be my 12th CM in the last 14yrs.:)

New to coaster mania and platinum passes here, sorry if this is a stupid question.

My 6.5 year old daughter is in love with CP. She goes on all the big things she is tall enough for, including MF. Is coaster mania an ok event to take a little one to? Just wanted to check before I reserved a room!

Any chance that the Season Pass Center opens earlier than the usual 9am for Coastermania? It's looking like my family won't be getting our new vouchers processed in advance, thanks to other logistics, including my son's T-ball game Thursday night at home in Michigan.
