Chickie's and Pete's... Overrated?

The discount works at Friday's, Perkins and Famous Dave's, I don't know about Chickie's and Pete's. I have a marina platinum pass, maybe that has something to do with it because there was always a discount for marina people at the out of park restaurants. But, I think all platinum passes get the discount this year.

I didn't know there was a marina platinum pass available. How did you get this kind of pass?

There yesterday right @ 1100 due to weather to seek shelter & get lunch, no issues with service or food. Sat at the bar, was given a drink promptly and food arrived in an acceptable time. Establishment was overwhelmed too given the weather right at open but they did a good job. Food was pleasant too, not the best, but clearly not bad either.

Resurrecting this thread to discuss our visit to C&P's today. We were there once before a few years ago and it wasn't bad. We tried it again for lunch today. My daughter LOVED the bbq wings, which was great as she can be pretty picky. I had the cheese steak. It was a little bit dry, but I was able to wolf it down. The wait staff wasn't overly attentive, which was a shame because the place was not very busy when we were there, but we still left her a tip.

But the thing that really left me (and a few others) shaking my head = our food was delivered and I wanted to go to the bathroom and wash my hands before eating since we had just recently ridden Maverick and MF. I forgot that C&P's bathroom were one seaters, so the door was locked when I got there. Another guy walked over while I was waiting, and then a third! Meanwhile a woman came over and went into the ladies room while we had a line waiting to get into the men's room!

After a few more minutes we heard the electric hand dryer in the men's room blowing and the guy behind me shot me a glance and an eye roll as if to say "Finally!" I was a little shocked when the door opened and two adult women walked out of the men's room to see us standing there. They both started laughing and one remarked that it had a shorter line than the ladies room when they went in. My food was getting cold and there was a line behind me, so I decided to just wash the paws and give up the room to the next guy.

Been there a few times. I don't understand the cult-like following here on Pointbuzz. Good pizza, sure. Great pizza, no. Maybe just different tastes? But I love all pizza. It's pizza!

Based on their prices, I usually split a pizza and crabfries and am satisfied. It's hard to mess up pizza and fries.

Maverick since '99

Overrated? Maybe. Those crabfries with cheese are good though. The cheesesteaks (IMO) are mediocre, I've had better. Are there better options close by in the park though for fries (Hot Potato, the stand by the Raptor entrance) and for better quality food? (Melt, Famous Dave's)...so yeah, maybe just a little overrated.

C&P's overrated?
It's hard to tell... it's closed more often than a Chick-Fil-A

Are you serious? Uh, no... it ain't.

Definitely overrated as far as I'm concerned. Earlier this year I waited 25 minutes for a cheese steak with maybe a dozen people seated in the restaurant and one person with a to go order before I put mine in. The employees had no problem standing around on their phones and playing basketball with the wash rags. What an absolute joke.

Never had out of park LaRosas pizza but KI sure manages to screw that stuff up. It is just gross. How do you screw up a cheese pizza? My kid's school cafeteria pizza is better than that.

The Crab Fries are good. I think too being that they are in a way unique at the Peninsula and in the area in general, it was a very warm and welcome change (especially considered the replacement--Game Day Grill).

The food is not exceptional, however I'm not completely surprised. Their apps are great, and the drinks / AC are nice, but agreed it's not stellar. I do think though it's quality since Year 1 has greatly diminished though. I remember enjoying the Buffalo Philly the first year, now I don't even order it.

However, to get away from the usual QSR/Window Serving areas of the park, it's a nice sit down. Is it the best? No not even close. But for 10-15 bucks I can feast on a ton of carbs & diabeetus cheese without compliant.

^Also LaRosas isn't pizza. I don't know what the hell Cincinnati has with ruining food. LaRosas is to Pizza, as Skyline is to Chili; Neither are what they claim to be.

I'll be the first to agree that Skyline isn't chili in the traditional sense, but man is it good.

Have you ever had NYC Pizza? I have yet to find pizza that comes anywhere close to a NYC slice. and I am not talking about the chain stores like Pizza Hut or Dominos. As for fries, its easy to mess those up too lol even tho the CP famous fries are indeed amazing

and to answer the original question, I don't think C&P's is anything to run home and brag about

Now, we've been over this. Leave Cincinnatians and their food quirks alone, please.

^^Graeters is ok...but extremely overpriced. There are smaller mom/pop shops that do it better for even cheaper. I'm looking at you Putz's Creamy Whip.

Detroit is my second favorite, behind Chicago Deep Dish...oh that cheese.

However, I don't know how to classify my exact favorite. It's a small place in Akron called Regina's. I grew up on that Pizza, and it's absolutely heaven, unfortunately the best example of their pie is the smallest picture on Google =/

It's New York ish, but not paper thin, almost Detroit sized crust, but then not square. The toppings are underneath all the Cheese, so somewhat like a Chicago Deep Dish, but no sauce on top.

It's a contradiction!

Also, second runners up for best pizza is Luigi's in Akron as well. However their Salad is way better than their Pizza. The amount of cheese you get is absolutely beautiful.

I must agree, but perhaps that's because what's available on the food plan at this restaurant is so minimal. Their seasoned fries gave me the most amazing heartburn that I thought I was having a heart attack, yet the cheese steak had zero flavor. I decided to give them another try thinking maybe it was a bad day but I was wrong. I stuck with the unseasoned fries but the sandwich seemed like something prepared for an elderly person on a low sodium and no flavor diet. I'll stick to small chicken fingers or excessively greasy pizza at other stops.
