I like how people have such a love affair with Pink's at the park. When I lived in SoCal for three years, I heard some tasty tidbits of information from a friend of mine that worked for them and still does, that would utterly blow your mind. Ah, no pun intended.

This discussion should not be about religion. The point of this, and what I find distasteful, is that a company is publicly discriminating against a group of people because of who they are is different from what the company thinks society should be. Makes no difference if that group happens to be gays, blacks, hispanics, christians, muslims, etc. Bigotry has no place in corporate america or anywhere else in this country, and should not be supported.

I just hope that CF gets ride of them. The parks are full of "non traditional biblical" people. Single parents, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Atheists, Gays, and ALL walks of life. By having that chain there will always have a religious stigma that Cedar Point IS NOT about. Get rid of them...

Religion dose not factor into this, I asked with the first post and ask again, please keep this civil. I don't care if they want to be closed on Sunday, Easter, or Tuesday for that matter. As soon as they start trying to force their beliefs on other people and telling them the are wrong and less of a person its time for them to go. As far as the argument no matter where you spend your money its going some where, This company has chosen to make public statements and make a big deal about where their money goes, that statement was made to isolate and belittle people, that's when they have to go.

This topic is derailing and should have been closed. These types of topics always turn into a hate battle between some people and aren't about the topic anymore and are about religious beliefs.

Fortunately, it's not up to you to decide.

Please. What an oppressed and privileged majority.

Pete is right, at the end of the day, this has nothing to do with religion at all. It has to do with a corporation funneling money into causes that are attempting to oppress human beings. This isn't supporting a political candidate or lobbying for looser rules on trade or consumer safety... this is about spending money to alter fundamental human rights.

The food sucks, the food isn't good for you, and the company is run by a person who is fundamentally evil. He can believe whatever he wants, and hide behind religion, too, but funding anything that attempts to keep down a segment of the population crosses the line.

Its obvious that Cedar Fair as a company has christian beliefs, Pointfest The Christian concert held in Soak City parking lot every fall. I have no problem with that, its their choice and right to bring what bands they choose to bring. christians are not a problem, muslims are not a problem, but radical christians are just as dangerous and hateful as radical muslims.

Close Chick-fil-A and bring in Chipotle!

I've heard that people are already voicing their opinion in the park. I'm betting that's what prompted the statement.

It is unfortunate that this dove into a religious debate but given the implications, it was bound to sooner or later.

UGH!!!! LOL!!! Can you imagine being sick after riding some rides and upchucking a 4 pound Burrito? :)

I would happily spend $12 on a burrito at CP. It'd be a nice upgrade from most of the crappy food (Famous Dave's and fries notwithstanding).

Religion was also used as the reason for racists to oppose inter-racial marriage. People often hide behind a god to support their bigotry.

I would highly recommend viewing the film "Tying the Knot"; I've used it for almost 10 years in my courses, and I've seen it have a powerful impact on even the most close-minded students.

It shows that gay people who want to get married (and indeed do get married) are no different than anyone else, but unfortunately face a litany of challenges because of hundreds of civil liberties that most people take for granted are not awarded them in our country.

I guess I just don't get the correlation between eating one meal and personal liberty.

Because some of the profit from that meal goes toward establishing rules to infringe on personal liberty.

...I doubt it will hurt the overall cause that much.

"Much" is an arbitrary, subjective distinction that, in this case, is used to help rationalize doing something immoral.

I think we've finally reached a point where an entire generation doesn't understand or appreciate just how important the civil rights movement was.

In a perverse way, I'm glad that the CEO's bigoted statement was tossed into the public sphere. In a post-Citizens United landscape, where you spend your money has as much effect on public policy as your actual vote. Whatever your political preference, I'd advise doing your own research on the political activity of businesses you frequent. You might be surprised by what you find.

Enlightenment is rarely without pain, and that cheap sandwich will never taste quite as good if you know its proceeds fund the despicable, but being in control of your own purchasing power is worth the trade.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

Which is very sad. Being in my 20s, I know all about the civil rights movement. I've studied it and know basically everything about it. Kids in middle school now and such, they can list off some of the main people who are always brought up when talking about the Civil Rights Movement, but I really wonder if they know why the movement was occurring.

At any rate, I'm not divulging my political or religious views here because they don't belong, but not giving someone the right to choose their own happiness just doesn't seem right. Maybe in 30 years, we'll look back at this like a lot of people did after the Civil Rights movement and all the Jim Crow laws and go "What were we thinking?".

Anyway, I haven't eaten at a Chick-Fil-A in ages. There aren't many in my area and I usually prefer to eat somewhere that isn't a chain at Cedar Point or any Cedar Fair park (aside from Coasters, I guess you can call it a chain because it's in every one of their parks). I eat at Johnny Rockets too. It's just that for the smaller, corporate companies, their prices are so high at the park. You can get a good meal at one of the other places there for around the same price.

I understand and appreciate the civil rights movement. Furthermore, I support the ability for homosexual couples to get married.

My point was that a few pennies worth of damage to a cause by eating food isn't equal to putting in time and effort of volunteering and donating to the opposite agenda.

Like I said, I just don't see the correlation. For me it's not a "One or the other" proposition.
