Chick-fil-A Ban

And, to think we all support and acknowledge discrimination, bigotry among other things every day when we buy our goods from companies that manufacture in China.

I applaud Chik-fil-A for finally coming right out and saying what they believe.

I didn't realize this was the Rush Limbaugh forum, back to roller coaster talk please.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Being a Christian in America puts you among the most privileged, exclusive and catered-to groups on the planet. You literally have Biblical concepts integrated into US law. It's astonishing to me the lack of perspective some Christians in the US have. Truly astonishing.

I am inferring that you are not a Christian, so I will say that perhaps you have no basis to make that statement. Have you walked around and told people Jesus is Lord and that He paid the price for your sins? Until you have, you aren't qualified to tell me whether or not I'm treated in a hateful way for stating my beliefs.

Secondly, this country was founded under Christian beliefs. Like it or not. Yes, there is freedom of religion, but we were once a Christian nation (though becoming less so every day) and those beliefs are reflected in our laws.. If you don't like this fact, you can do one of two things. Work to change the laws, or leave. But instead, I suspect you will just continue to complain about it on theme park forums...

I'm well aware of how many companies do it. I'm just stating my distaste for it.

That someone would choose to temporarily satisfy their taste buds at the expense of their personal liberty says an awful lot about that person. None of it admirable.

I guess I just don't get the correlation between eating one meal and personal liberty. Not to mention the fact that it's temporary and I doubt it will hurt the overall cause that much. You could add up all the times you eat there and it would probably still be pennies worth. Something that could easily be undone by a donation to an organization that is the opposite.

It is not like someone who eats at Chick-fil-a is automatically giving up the right to be gay or marry sometime in the future.

Oh, you're right. That was a HORRID analogy.

^^ It's not about being Christian, it's about spreading and supporting hate. If you do so, then it doesn't mater what your religious background is, you're spreading hate and going against the supposed peaceful and loving teachings of your deity. I think it's called hypocrisy......

1) Where did he ever say he wasn't a Christian? You don't know that he isn't.

2) This country wasn't founded on Christian beliefs. This country was founded on the freedom of religion no matter what that religion is.

3) The founding fathers put the separation of Church and State into the constitution for a reason. Did you ever think that those principles may just be good moral values and that's why they are laws?

People don't like you walking up and pushing your beliefs in their face?

That's a surprise.

Do you know what the definition of the word "infer" is?

I should have been more clear... since we are picking apart words here. It was founded by people with Christian values. Many Christian values do also happen to line up with commonly held moral values, ie don't kill people. So naturally there is going to be some overlap.

And Adam, as Christians we are taught not to hate people, but to love them and try to show them the error of their ways. If I have a constitutional right to freedom of religion, I can believe what I want. If I have freedom of speech, I can say what I want. And both you and I can vote with our wallets and EAT where we want. I just don't see why we need to make such a public fuss over it. If you perceive my beliefs as hate, that is your choice. I disagree with you, but respect your right to think whatever you like.

What I don't agree with, however, is for someone to tell me that I can't think what *I* want, because it conflicts with *their* differing values, and then to go as far as to call me a bigot for not agreeing with them. That's just backwards, hypocritical thinking.

This will be my last post on this thread.

I was a Christian for many years, before I joined the ranks of one of the most hated, most distrusted groups in America. So I understand how it feels to be both.

Secondly, this country was founded under Christian beliefs.

Wrong. Read the Treaty of Tripoli, which was unanimously ratified by the Senate, many of whom were Christian. That's right, even the Christians among our Nation's founding fathers agree that you are wrong.

As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion...

If you treat a particular group with hatred and/or intolerance, you are, by definition, a bigot.

I am by far 'anti-gay' and in fact support them entirely, but this won't stop me from going to Chick-fil-a the few times a year I do.

Honestly, it is a private business. If the owner of the company has certain values or thoughts, so be it. Wrong or right. It his his/her right to believe or feel how they want. *shrug*

Oh, and the Sunday thing sucks... I ALWAYS want it on Sunday's, like clockwork :)

I want a spicy chicken sandwich now... mmmmmm :)

I know that this was touched on previously, but there's no way that you can spend money in today's America without donating to a cause.

Chances are that you give money to organizations that differ from your point of view all the time.

You could shop at Target and give money to LGBT organizations one minute then turn around and get a coke from the drive-thru at Chik-fil-A on your way home and give money to ANTI-LGBT organizations.

My point is: People rarely shop somewhere because of their views, they go there because they have a good product... and people like Chik-fil-A. Cedar Point knows this, and has them in their parks because it's a money maker.

I'm sure that Cedar Fair does business with companies that give their money to charities against the views of Chik-Fil-A too... so they cancel each other out. :-)

Let's just enjoy the dinosaurs.

Yeah, but they skipped over that and went right to religion.

OK if you listen to Chick-Fil-A's comments they are all for the "Traditional" biblical Family. That to me means that if you are single parent, they WILL take your money but deep down inside feel that you are inferior to them. There are FAR more single fathers and mothers in this country who should take offense than gay people and vow to never return and be vocal about it. He bragged in that interview about how all of his family memebers are still married and blah blah blah. I am glad I was raised Catholic so I know first hand how religion and brainwashing can destroy people. I have not gone to church in many years and have been a better person for it. As the younger generation grows up this will not even be an issue in the future and hopefully sooner than later. This thread is turning into a religious battle and it is not meant to be. Cedar Fair does not have the same beliefs that Chick-Fil-A does and have tweeted as such. We will hopefully not be seeing this chain much longer at Cedar Fair parks. Christian or not this is truly a despicable chain.

And Adam, as Christians we are taught not to hate people, but to love them and try to show them the error of their ways.

Being a Christian myself I have to disagree with this one. Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor." He never said, "Love thy neighbor and convert them."

As a follower of Jesus, which is how I identify myself, my duty is to make sure everyone knows that they are loved by Christ. Whether they be gay, straight, rich, poor, black, white or Latino. Someone else being gay is no bigger of a sin than someone having sex outside of marriage.

This topic is derailing and should have been closed. These types of topics always turn into a hate battle between some people and aren't about the topic anymore and are about religious beliefs.

My family isn't traditional. I was born before my parents were married and they divorced when I was nine. But barely anyone's family is traditional nowadays. I'm Catholic but like tcgolfer said, You must love thy neighbor. Respect people's beliefs.

I wonder if Cedar Fair has a clause where they can terminate the operating agreement with Chick-Fil-A at anytime for any reason?I hope so. I was never a huge fan of chains infiltrating into the park anyway since an amusement park in my opinion is an oasis to get away from the everyday same old. I hate the fact that Subway is in the park and Panda Express less so but still takes away from the atmosphere.
