Chaos Gone for Good

If I remember correctly, the ride went like this....

1. Town scene with man chasing a lady with a bottle to your right.

2. Bar scene...bottle slides down bar.

3. Giant octopus moving his arms.

4. Go right into giant beating heart.

5. Go between two pirate ships shooting cannons.

6. Sinking row boat, treasure chest, man getting hung with rope.

7. Skeliton getting cut in 3.....end of ride.

Also, in between rooms, you slammed into wooden doors and it made a loud noise.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Thanks Crazy, I seem to recall most of those aspects of the ride now, especially the slamming of doors between rooms and going between the two ships firing on each other.

Remember Earthquake at all?

I remember the sequence of scenes on The Pirate Ride a little differently. This recollection is culled from my own memories of countless rides as well as a couple bits of home video we have from way back...

  • Through two sets of doors into the town scene, occasionally accompanied by the sound of pirates singing pirate-y songs (the music wasn't always playing)...
  • Enter into the tavern, bartender slides bottle to pirate at the end of the bar, said pirate lifts his head to look at us as we exit into...
  • A battle between two ships. Our boat swerves back and forth between them as the cannons "blast" with red light...
  • We exit the battle into a stormy sea where a couple of pirates clinging to a boat and shout a warning of "Look out for the whale!!!" as we turn and are "swallowed" by said whale...
  • Inside the whale we hearing gurgling and bubbling noises as we pass its red glowing heart and into the darkness...
  • Next our boat passes an oddly unidentifiable sea creature that rises up as we pass. (We are presumably now underwater, apparently having passed through the whale somehow. Mercifully the implied passing happens in the dark, saving us the gory details.)
  • Just past the strange creature we turn left as the lights turn on to reveal a large octopus (or giant squid) wriggling directly in our path...
  • We turn left away from the octopus and back onto dry land, this time on a deserted island. Here we see a glowing pile of treasure ready to be buried (or recently excavated by the pirates)...
  • We leave the island to witness a pirate being put to apparent death by hanging (I swear I remember his neck being less "bloody" in the last few years, perhaps implying that his neck just stretched to comical proportions instead of killing him)
  • We see the three-piece skeleton rotate as we pass through the final set of slamming doors, accompanied by that signature disembodied scream as we stop at the unload point.

It was a distinct and fun dark ride. I'm not sure how it would fit into the Cedar Point of today, but I'm glad we had as much time with it as we did.

As for the Earthquake ride, I have little to no memory of it. I do recall some props from it showing up as HalloWeekend decorations briefly (namely the ballroom dancing figures and the wizard predicting the earthquake).

Chaos has been removed from the website and on the newly posted map Three Point Challenge is in it's place. Found it interesting that you can download the map.

I like the pond drawn below Danger Boat -I mean- Ocean Motion. What's the odds that is actually there? :)

Just like the odds that they brought back the calypso scenery.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's there...that would be a nice surprising touch for the ride's new place.

I have a "funny" feeling we'll be in for a nice surprise in regards to that spot come opening day. And actually, if anyone makes it to the park to process their pass, you should be able to see just how different and nice that spot is going to look. ;)

That's a fantastic morsel to chew on...our annual "first Monday" trip is in the calendar.

Anyone, who has been to the park opening weekend, want to comment on what they've done with Chaos's former spot? I saw a picture of a new 3 point shootout. Sad to see the ride out of there!

Not much to comment on. The back drop that was there for Chaos is still there, just with a basketball court in front of it.

I thought it looked OK. Honestly I miss that little ride.. I know it broke down a lot.. but it sure was an experience to remember.

RIP Chaos

I see they kept the Three Point Challenge next to Ocean Motions new location. I figured it was moving to Chaos, instead they added a new one.

I bet Lebron would stink it up at that one too...

It seems Lebron would only be successful at the Three Point Challenge in Long Beach.
