Cedars Dorms

I am possibly working at CP this summer and i was curious if these dorms are really as terrible as everyone blows them up to be. Can you get to the employee rec center from Cedars...thanks for your help

You have to ride a bus to get to the rec center. The only Rec. center at Sweedars is the Power Shower Hour. If that is your bag GO for it and don't drop the soap.

well where does the nickname sweedars come from?

Its just something that was conjured up to make it sound more effeminate. Cedars is filled with mostly gay guys. Stereotypical gays have a lisp, so that is also added while saying the name. I lived there last year, its not as bad as everyone says. The heat is horrible, the showers unbearable, and the spiders screw that! Plus if you want to date, or meet girls commons is a better place to be. Less walking distance from the bar so you can stumble home.
Wow.
so i guess you are saying...live in commons...

Of course no one has mentioned the good things about Cedars/Gold, so I will. Walking distance to the park and work. Ability to "run home" quickly if anything is forgotten or to take a quick break or shower.

Incredibly cheap prices, historic building :)

but dare I ask about Power Shower Hour?

Only if you ask about the magnum sinking? :)

Thanks to this board...the commons dorms are sounding much more appealing...my friend who is an ATL on Demon Drop this year said that Bayside is already filled...how is this?

I heard that rumor last year too, it wasn't true. I knew alot of people that got in after April 28th. Rumors, and gossip have a way of running out of control at cedar point.
What!?! Adam, theres gossip at Cedar Point, no way! hahahaha, by the way did you hear we sold the Magnum to Russia for 5 cases of vodka?

5 cases of vodka? Man, did they get screwed on the deal. (just kidding, I love Magnum!) That's almost as bad as the story about the guy who stood up on MF when it entered the tunnel and had his head chopped off! I guess that would be down for an unoperational guest. :)

Unoperational guests, thats fantastic...that goes along with the age old myth of the girls hair flying upwards on demon drop and getting caught in the ride and decapitating her, such nice myths that go along with CP deaths that never happened, by the way Jon O, is that park op coffee fair game for the TL's in the AM? I'll need it!

I'm thinking about living at Cedars because I'm always running late and I'd be able to get to work fast without having to wait for a bus! ;-) Does anyone have a website with pictures of the building/rooms at Cedars, because the CP website doesn't show much. Also, if you live at Cedars, do you get close parking, and is it free? Or do you have to park somewhere off-point and take a bus to the dorms? Thanks!

Brent, I don't know a few things about parking (since I never had a car last year), but as for getting to work on time when you're running late. That is the greatest feeling. If you stay up late (or just get worn out easily), then on point is where to stay. I worked in the back of the park last summer and I could get to my job in 10 mins. and ready to go. I love every minute of it. I'll be working the Mantis this next year and my roommate works Gemini (he has been for a while now), so you'll already know someone from your crew. I think parking is free by the way (or am I incorrect on that someone), but you do get to park on point, except on select days throughout the season when they expect heavier crowds than usual? I'll look around for some pics of the dorms, and if I find any, I'll IM you and send them to you. Any more questions I'm willing to fill you in on them. Take care.

Mantis Crew '02 - Where's the unload station at?!? ;-)

Well, for the buildings, Cedars is the red buildings, behind the Cinema(well, now the goodtime theatre) You can really see it well from the Wildcat, cause it is right there.

Parking for onpoint housing residents, by non supervisors, is regular employee parking, which is rows 1 through 8or12 of the main lot, the blue streak lot (good for Cedars People) and sometimes the Gemini Lot.

Inside, imagine a run-down cabin, that pretty much it. Its still a lot of fun.

hehehehe

For days when the parking ban is in effect (for example, select Saturdays in July), employees who have their cars parked on-Point have to move them to the employees lot off-Point across from Commons and then bus back in.
