"Cedar Point is building for the future!"

As much as I hate to bring this up again, but if there really are footers on the beach, maybe it's that long talked of boardwalk project taking shape.

Just because you can't justify charging $3 for a Pepsi doesn't mean you can't charge $3 for a Pepsi.

We discussed this in another thread before... WT and the Giant Wheel moving are "the boardwalk project", maybe just the beinnings but they are.

...to which I respond with rolling my eyes. I am a fan of speculation and I think day-dreaming is all fine and good, but I draw the line at humanistic philosophical musings. Perhaps Cedar Point planners can be guests on Oprah.

I don't recall anyone ever saying that 'twin towers' were impossible, nor do I think that anyone ever said that three-hundred feet was impossible. Anyone saying that impossibility is a real possibility must be referring to the discernible logic in their inspirational snippets of wisdom.

What I CAN say after much reading is that Cedar Point, barring monetary restrictions *restrained laugh*, can probably build whatever they want. Judging from what I saw at the park and popular speculation, I am pretty sure a new roller coaster is imminent and I think it will be pretty big. I think four-hundred feet is possible, but I also think four-hundred feet is unlikely.

I would love to see something that big, but I am not holding my breath.

...of course, I could dream a little harder and try to hold my breath until the announcement because, after all, the impossible is possible.*

Just sit back and think of a 400' drop or more, DAMN! That would be totally insane. I thought MF's 300' drop was unbelievable, just think of dropping from that height at a 90 degree angle, *#&!ing Awesome.

Hmm... that's right, people didn't say 300ft was impossible. In the 1960-70's THEY SAID 150FT WAS IMPOSSIBLE. 1980: THEY SAID 200FT WAS IMPOSSIBLE.
seeing you guys go crazy about stuff makes it allllll worth it putting in countless hours at cp

I'm still confused. How does anybody hear KNOW what certain footers are? I don't think anybody here (except for one or two) knows what certain footers look like, etc. I don't pretend to know what they are for, so why does everybody assume they know what kind of footer that is?

I want a new coaster just as badly as everybody else, but looking at Xcelerator and seeing similar footers means nothing. They could be there for anything. (I'm sure we've already discussed this) Are they left over form the Dodgems?

I'm not trying to pick a fight by the way, I'm just a misinformed enthusiast!

Personally, who cares what goes on here. Whatever it is, it's going to make us ooo and ahhhhh anyways!! I live 5 mins from Cedar Point, the greatest creation since sliced bread. Making speculation on what's going on in there, I have to say, is VERY funny to sit back and read about. lol People saying WHAT they should, HOW they should do it, then making up interesting ride names to name it. I met Tony last night, while at CP. Great man, first led me to this Site. I've been to cedar point at least 3 times a week, sometimes 4. For the last 6 years. Just for some reason, I don't find it a point to SPAZZ ( a word??) out about little things such as ..OOO POST ARE THERE BEHIND A WALL *Drama Music* DADADA!! COME ON PEEPS. Live Life RIDE HARD

MF-190 Rides
Raptor-380
Twist-70 ( it's always NOT working when I happen to go ) lol

I'm going to laugh If it's a huss thrill ride, or something small like that....lol

OMG! The Space Spiral is leaning!!" Must be the weight of that new air conditioning system everyone keeps hypothesizing about...
Craig, they are not left behind from the Dodgems - it used a foundation rather than footers (as nearly ALL flat rides do, that's why it's looking like a coaster). It's a known fact that they were poured in the offseason. And what we're using to try to figure out what could be going on are things like the depth of the footers... because they are VERY deep, it looks like they could hold something very big.

Kyle, I wouldn't say we're "spazzing" about this, we're just really curious about what is going on. Also, the signs on the fence signal that something is being built, and we're trying to figure out what it could be. Personally I love the speculation!

Does anybody have any actual info about what they are building? Or are people just going to talk about what they want???

~*kP

Maybe the footers are there just to make everyone guess what is going to be there and then CP employees come in here and look at all the outrageous thing that people can think of. Or this is just one big conspiracy by CP.

By using common sense, many of us have come to a conclusion.

1. Why in the hell would Jeff have devoted a whole forum to it if it was nothing?

2. Notice that none of the People in The Know (TM) on this site are saying much on the topic...if it was nothing, it would have been dismissed by now.

3. Cedar Fair just built Xcelerator at Knott's...with the same kind of tower footers that are very deep, you aren't the least bit skeptical or curious to think that Xcelerator was a large scaled guinea pig on how the public would accept it?

4. Look at the area...there are a couple rides that could be easily moved to make a straightaway that lines up perfectly with the Area 51 footers.

5. Employees were specifically told not to speculate on the area...even though they have put up signs that imply something big is coming.

With all of these factors, we know that something big is going to be announced, we just don't know when.

CP_bound your reasoning is always so refreshing.... and the wait begins.

youre all wrong,, i think that wicked twister was just the start, they could add track caps to the top and then launch twister into elements and what not. Maybe thats why wt is always cracking and it needs the extra support from the rest of the track circuit :) and that might be why it had problems with the computer. its only designed to launch one way. ya never know :) just a thought but is always possible. you guys figure out the rest cause im tired, bye...

CP bound you may want to see a rocket coaster but i dont we need some more loops at CP!

I don't think that a floorless would be a big draw...a huge launched coaster on the other hand...

This is why I think it is a giant coaster. On Coasterbuzz, Jeff said no one would notice SFWoA's hyper because of what was going in down the road. What do you think he was saying? Yep. Cedar Point.
See, I think people are making WAY to much into that quote, (if THAT was even the quote made by Jeff). Even if Cedar Point were to get a flat ride, say something like Tomb Raider, I think people would be talking about that more so than the hyper at Six Flags Waste Of Afternoon. Cedar Point has such a great fan base that people will talk about it, almost no matter what. I don't think we can "count" that quote as a clue/hint. I have been wrong in the past...we shall see.

Let your mind go...and your body will follow...

Well, I read the quote and it was his. I do believe that he was alluding to next year's CP plans and it wouldn't surprise me if CP was planning to "one-up" the Flags. Six Flags has made no secret of trying to get this hyper built for a couple of years now so CP could certainly be planning to steal some thunder.

The concerns CP has concerning SFWoA is substantive whereas the so-called competition between CP and MM is nonesense.
