"Cedar Point is building for the future!"

I really do think that the Employe @ KBF was somewhat correct, but i am EXCATLY $) correct. (lol) Joking aside, I really think some (or most) of us have to the consensus that it's going to be a Rocket Coaster.

I really think those KBF employees where telling the truth. The footers are pretty much the same. I watched Xcelerator grow up on several western coaster sites.

For those of you who don't know me, I post a lot at TPOL and for those of you who do know me....Hi!

Until hear or am proven otherwise those concrete things are nothing more then concrete things. Thinking otherwise will only set you people up for dissapointment.

There could have easily been some interaction with people from Intamin, who could have talked about Xcelerator being a small version of the project for CP. It's all in the same company, so the Intamin people wouldn't think they are "spilling the beans".

While I didn't want to give that many details before because I didn't want to get anyone in trouble (if there is any trouble to get into), you hit the nail on the head Pete. The employee actually did mention this "interaction" and gave a significant amount of details it... Since you said it, I guess its fine that I just confirm it for you.

I'd Rather Be Riding Roller Coasters

For all those that think this is merely nothing...what do you think about all the people that usually have the scoop on stuff like this, not posting? The people "in the know" on this site have been rather mute on this topic as of late...I wonder why. If it was nothing, they would have said so. Think about it.

July 11th: Korn, Puddle of Mudd, and Deadsy

I still can't buy some people's arguments. CP doesn't need to steal thunder from anyone. They have the best collection of roller coasters in the midwest. They have the tallest and fastest coaster in the US and not to mention many other world class attractions. Getting a new coaster would be awesome, but I am just trying to put things in perspective. If they are getting a new coaster, then why a rocket coaster? They have a launched ride, they have a tall and fast ride, I guess you could splice them together, but why not get an inverted stand-up then? Or a wooden hyper coaster?

Besides, nobody can really tell what these footers are intended to be. As Jeff said, it's pointless to speculate on some random footers.

Please don't yell at me! :) :)

Rocket coaster...bah, humbug. I think it's just going to be some not-very-significant thing, useful and/or fun, but probably disappointing. If it is something big, yippee! I just want to hear the announcement first.

Six Flags better than Cedar Point? I'll believe it when Raging Wolf Bobs flies...

All I hope this season is that people figure out that to launch a coaster to certain heights would be pretty unrealistic.

Not if you put LIMs in the spike to help it along. I simulated it in No Limits and it works great, probably would work in real life also.

I haven't weighed in on this lately, but here is what I think. This whole rocket coaster (or possibly a thrust air) seems to be a good possibility. I don't know what kind of height it would have. 400+ feet would be nice, but I don't think I can see that happening because of the insane speed it would require. As for everyone saying why another launched coaster, we just got a launced one. You're forgetting, CP has 14 coasters that use lift hills, 12 of which are the traditional chain lift. Now that the launch technology is improving, why not add more launced coasters? I don't see it as being any more repetitive than lift coaster after lift coaster, even though I'm a bigger fan of the lifts than the launched.

Although its popularity seems to be decreasing here, I've changed my mind to wanting a B&M flying coaster. After thinking more about Area 51's location, I don't think anything could utilize that scenery better than a flying coaster. If there was to be a rocket coaster, I'd like to see it somewhere other than Area 51 so that another ride like a flyer could be made really great by using the beautiful scenery there.

I really hope you're not serious. An inverted stand-up is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of... and I didn't think people even still talked about such a far-fetched idea.

Really, people complain about Stand-Up coasters left and right. I can't imagine the pain on an inverted one.
I wasn't serious, but was trying to get my point across of how many options Cedar Point has than just a rocket coaster. I see a rocket coaster as ajoining of two great rides (MF and WT) so I was just showing what else CP could combine to make great (Mantis and Raptor, etc.).

I agree Ralph, I'm all for Flying, but I still think were getting a flat or water ride.

A water ride makes no sense at all - the placement of the water rides is all further towards Mean Streak. I think that the fact that multiple people have now seen the "footers" on the beach says that there will be multiple improvements first off - secondly, why do you people deny that those are footers for a coaster? It's a footer, it can be nothing else ... its for a steel coaster, woodies don't have footers like that ... and its for a BIG steel coaster, because small steel coasters wouldn't have footers like that. Look at this from an economic standpoint - CP is not going to try and overengineer something as badly as they would have with those footers if they were just installing a kiddie ride. Kiddie coaster footers are much smaller, flat rides require a lot more of a concrete slab than those 3.
A flying seems like a possibility, but again, those footers seem way too big for a conventional flyer - now a flyer thats much bigger than anything made so far, that would make sense and be in CP style, but other than that, face it, its probably a good chance its a Rocket (and the idea of a TA2K seems impossible - thats way too much structure for that area of the park and the ride to me seems very uninteresting)

And with all the problems PKD had with the ride, especially the trains, it makes sense that CP would buy from an experienced coaster manufacturer, rather than from a company that makes drop towers.

I agree with CP bound. What isnt being said is more interesting than what is being said. Usually, things like this are not allowed to linger this long.
