Cedar Point announces TT2 will be operational!

BTW the Blue train has been removed twice from operations today....

Just saw a rollback with blue train on the webcam. Seems like issues with the blue train continue.

I just saw a picture elsewhere of the blue trains blue rear seats swapped onto the silver train. Also I've seen some FB posts last couple days about an unusual number of rollback recently. Anyone have any idea if they are having more train issues?

From the webcam, it looked like they were forced to run two trains pretty much all weekend. Just went to check on it again now and they've changed the angle so we'll have to be clever and time the interval to see how many trains they are running since it is hard to make out the colors. Right as I flipped on the cam, I saw a rollback. Train barely started cresting the tower and rolled back.

Went and made dinner and came back to see it rolling back again. Kept watching and saw it roll back a third time. Definitely some issues tonight. Not sure if it was all the same train or not.

So.... What's the latest rumor on TT2? Second day in a row it's not in operation.

Did Cedar Point and Zamperla get in over their heads?

Prototype ride still having problems? Color me surprised. Anyone who thought that this thing was gonna run flawlessly right off the bat, even after the revised trains, was delusional. This is the first significant downtime this year as it's been running fairly regularly. Of course more problems were going to surface. They need time to work through them and get it to a state where it runs with minimal downtime.

I still go back to when the ride was first announced. It was said to "push the limits of engineering". Have they gone to the edge and crossed over?

Reminds me of a famous quote by Christian comedian Mark Lowry. If Billy Graham were to jump off the empire State building, Billy gonna go splat".

If they've gone past the edge of engineering, no amount of revisions is going to save it as it was originally purposed.

Maybe push the limits with a manufacturer with more experience building the scope of ride your prototyping?

Mouse coaster with a triple launch would’ve been a good starts.

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

What manufacturer has a good track record with 400’+ launched coasters?

The one currently attempting a 519 ft, 155mph, 13,943ft long monstrosity in the deserts of Saudi Arabia. Surely this one will last at least 20 years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Some enthusiasts act like Zamperla has no chance of learning and growing from this and that it's impossible for them to get past these challenges. As if the engineering Intamin did with their mega coasters went perfectly every time and these rides operated perfectly all the time. Intamin can do what they do because they pushed the limits and learned from the problems that came with it. Zamperla is simply finding out what pushing the limits mean.

This is all my fault. Totally jinxed it by proudly announcing I would get my first ride on Father's Day.

There are pictures floating around of a pretty large crane on site, and rumors of welding and state inspections.

So best guess is lagoon maintenance.

Stop Still 2.

Definitely looks like they are using repellers to inspect welds on the spike. I tried zooming is as best as I can with my phone camera and it appears there are several areas where they were inspecting the welds. My best guess is UT readings, same tests we use at oil refineries on piping and after all the supports on roller coasters look like piping to me.

They'd only be inspecting welds right now if there was a fairly obvious issue. Someone claiming to be a CP mechanic on reddit said there was a crack found on the spike, that they seem to be confident they can fix it and it should open again in due time.

Nope- it’s mine. I bought the t-shirt. Last year.

^^ That would make sense, if they did indeed find a cracked weld they’d want to inspect everything just to be sure. It also fits another rumor I heard which was that it failed inspection Thursday night. I wasn’t here but I hear the ride was operating Thursday prior to being shut down Friday morning. I must also state we all know my glorious track record with rumors and predictions so take all that with a 50# bag of rock salt!

yeah, it sounds like a crack on the spike and weld inspection?

EDIT: didn't realize it was on the back spike, not the top hat. Not great news....

and I wonder what's going on with the Frankensteining of the new trains already?

Hopefully, it is an issue they can address the issue quickly.

The spike isn't 22 years old though.

I only see the ropes on the spike, there’s nothing on the top hat.

Where is the crane supposed to be? I haven’t seen it yet.
