Hmmmm, is W-H-A-T a new spelling for WHERE? ;)

Hey, so I missed a totally unimportant and completely irrelevant part of the question. Sue me. ;)

The "what" is just some gunshots and what-not, from what I gather.

Happy now? :)

Dj is correct. It's gunshots. When I rode Saturday morning they were really loud, maybe that changed since then. Haha if you guys really want to know, I guess I'll tell you if you want :)

Does water spray up like bullets hit water or is it just sound?

Just sounds. But it has to do with the scene that your passing by.

It is a nifty little piece of scenery.

The ride is what it is and I don't think WWL was any better

I don't think the noise is supposed to be gunshots, by the way (at the piece of theming), but rather the sound of the set-piece undergoing some serious "combustion issues". Trying not to give it away either.

I liked the elevated parts of White Water Landing...

Most of STR is at (or just below) ground level. Being in the lagoon is cool, too, though. I think STR looks a lot better than WWL did (especially in its last few years).

WWL had that legendary turntable station, though... I'm glad I still get to see something very similar on Loggers Run in Santa Clara.

Can't say much about STR since i didnt even get to ride it. after waiting in line for an hour and forty five minutes, being right behind the turnstyle the ride breaks down, waiting for 20 minutes, they announce it will be a while so i left i still will ride it next time, but, i always wait in long lines for top thrill and millenium, is this really worth it?

Depends on if you like to or want to get wet. If it's hot and it goes down for a while but you still want to get wet, then go ride SRF or TC.

So, with the 90+ degree temps, I'm hoping StR is absolutely packed now?

Also, I've seen alot of disappointment with the ride from critics here, which I'm not surpised about. But, the more important thing is....do the casual riders and general public seem to be enjoying it thoroughly, or are most kind of indifferent when they get off?

Riders seem happy when they get off. Like most water rides, the kids seem to be the ones jumping back in line.

It doesn't seem as popular as one would think for a brand new attraction though.

I rode Shoot the Rapids June 30, 2010. It was a cool day and after the ride we were freezing. I think it's a fantastic ride and the perfect timing for a water ride. The hills are fun and overall anybody can enjoy this one, even wimps or extremists. You won't leave the ride dry and the water is cold. They were filming for a commercial so the queue was horribly long. The ride was running smoothly, the seats and restraints are easy and comfortable for a 6'2 man and child. Overall great, great ride! Normal queue times should be about 15 minutes, my experience was longer due to the commercial shoot. The guy driving the tour boat is annoying... "shoot, shoot, shoot-shoot-shoot," with fingers in shape of guns towards the waiting crowd near the station.

So, how is the popularity of Pilgrim's Plunge at Holiday World out of curiosity? Though I felt Intamin had better options than a 1-up of Pilgrim's Plunge, I still feel that route would have had much greater success than StR.

This ride has just frustrated me from concept to birth, as it has always screamed "forgettable 1990's water ride" to me. It has only been a week, and it feels like StR is already being forgotten...and I have little interest in even riding it. If I had to be soaked, at least a scenic, eerie elevator lift would have drawn me in...

But how can that be? We've had pages of posts complaining that kids can't ride it because of the 46 inch requirement. Could the 46 inch requirement be less onerous than prophesied? ;)

I finally rode on July 4th and thought it was a really fun ride. Not sure what all the complaining is about. I made it over there around 10:30 in the morning and got two rides in about 15 minutes. Went and did the two other water rides a couple of times each and by then STR had a 45 minute line.

At CP for the weekend and rode STR twice just after 10 Saturday. Nice ride, no complaints. It's not a marque ride like the coasters, but it's a good ride. The line didn't get long at all while we were at the ride, 15 tops. In 4 days I only saw it operating one other time and the line wasn't too long then either and it was hot out. Most of the time we walked by it was closed. Yesterday we rode water rides, but didn't even attempt to ride STR figuring it would be closed. We were correct. It's disapointing that it is down so much.

The crowds at the water rides Sunday were huge. The area near Thunder Canyon was as crowded as Fright Zone on a busy Saturday. You just got swept by the crowd. The line for TC was out the queue/path and all the way to the bridge by Maverick & SRF mid afternoon Sunday. STR was down unfortunately.
