The late Charles Dinn was the mind behind Mean Streak, as well as its "twin" (I know they aren't clones, but they're similar enough for this use) Texas Giant. Gravity Group hasn't been around long. Gravity Group doesn't support their wooden track with a wooden structure, their coasters use steel structures. Coasters that are actually GG coasters include Voyage and Hades.

The Gravity Group does not always use steel structure for their rides (see Boardwalk Bullet). It depends on the project. Remember that they are essentially the engineers behind CCI as well, with a lot more business sense than the bankrupt owner of CCI ever had.

Because one of the four guys worked an apprenticeship for Summers-Dinn does not make them responsible for the piece of crap that is Mean Streak.

The point I was trying to make was that wood coasters do NOT have to be rough, as you stated they are suppose to be. Besides, as Jeff said above, the one guy that worked for Dinn is not responsible for Mean Streak. Therefor, GG is no more connected to Mean Streak as they are to Raptor for all I care.

I consider myself a thrill seeker I've been sky diving, cliff diving, back country skiing, and I love the bigger better faster coasters but I have to say I love Cedar Creek Mine Ride. I started reading this topic with the intention of posting at the end how well I thought a mine themed euro-fighter would be a perfect replacement. However after just watching a POV of Mine Ride on youtube I remember how much I love that ride. The location of the ride is everything and to have something zipping through there at even Mav speeds would completely ruin the setting. There are plenty of insanely huge, fast, and fun rides at CP and I'm all for more but not at the expense of losing this piece of history...Especially now that WWL is gone...

I know it's off topic, but I didn't want to start a new thread. :)

If you were rode CCMR last year you would have notice the new wood and supports they had put on. Usually, when a park is ready to tear a ride down they don't spend the money in repairing it. Some of the wood could of been because it just needed it, but after some observation it doesn't look like it's going anywhere soon.

I would have to say Gold Rusher is about 70 times better than Mine Ride. In fact, while we're at it, so is the mine train coaster at Kings Island.

The Mine Ride has a pretty boring layout compared to some of the other mine train coasters out there.

The Mine Ride is one of the best rides at CP. Why? Because most everyone in the family can ride it, even people who would never set foot on a more aggressive coaster.

A good ride does not have to be about high-speed thrills and large drops (though I love those), a good ride is something that allows people to have fun as a group, which makes them happy.

Frontier Town is a family friendly part of the Point, to make it perfect I think they need another flume ride and a frontier themed dark ride.

If Cedar Creek Mine Ride was taken out, what would be everyone's first roller coaster then?

There's no ride in the park that hold more memories than that CCMR. At least for me and many other families.

I'm with Craig there. Mine Ride was the first coaster I ever rode way back in 1983, and it was the beginning of a life-long infatuation with coasters. It's a great "introductory" ride, in addition to having the nostalgia aspect that's been well documented in this thread.
