Castaway Bay

In friday's Sandusky Register CP said they would "look into" the possibility of non-guests using Castaway Bay at some future time.

It's easy to say you'll "look into it." However, I wouldn't count on it. If the hotel fills up, the water park is likely to be too full to admit outside guests. If the hotel isn't full, why would they let people into the water park without also making them buy a room?

The only way I can see this happening is if Sandusky suddenly has way too many water park/resort rooms to fill, and competition requires it. This might force room rates down, but I doubt that even this will lead to routinely admitting outside guests.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

I bet if this is successful, CP will expand CB or expand BE and open that year round with a different themed indoor water park. Or possible just open an indoor water park altogether! They have room next to BE, but parking? hmmm......just a thought.

Evolution its a LIE
Honestly, there are only so many indoor water parks you can have in one area.... I think if CP wanted to get more winter business after CB, they would probably look to what already gets them a lot of income. It appears to me Sandusky is trying to improve to become more of a resort town. I could see CP in the next 50 years, expanding and building another resort hotel, and maybe an indoor rides park someplace. CF already has several Soak City's by Knotts, why not 2 CF parks in Sandusky. They already have exerience with Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America. I know this is a very far out thought due to the cost factor, but still a possibility within the time frame. "Camp Snoopy Sandusky." ;)

do remember that cedar point has a camp snoopy. I know your talking about an indoor rides park and not an area for kids, but cedar point wouldnt build a park with the same name of a popular area at cedar point, only a couple of miles away
It was just a random brain dump. I would assume the people who actually come up with names would come up with something creative like, "Cedar Point's World of Peanuts" sponsored by Continental Airlines. Who knows Camp Snoopy could be opted for again.

Hey all!

Some information about Castaway Bay was given at the GOCC Holiday Party last night. The Radisson name will, indeed, be gone as of November 2004. The entire complex will be called "Castaway Bay" and, the way Mr.p Edwards made it sound, the entire atmosphere of what is now the Radisson will be totally different. From the things I've heard, they're sure going to do this right!

It sounds more and more like they are officially going to make CB a CP resort. So far everything has said Cedar Point's Castaway Bay. Not Castaway Bay a Cedar Fair property. As Radisson currently is.

I think that a cool perk for them to offer Castaway Bay guests would be an express boat from the resort to Cedar Point much like how they bus people from hotels to the entrance gates. This would save the guests the trip over a crowded causeway, and would be a unique experience. They could also either charge extra for trips, or just add the cost lost from parking onto the rooms.

They did offer that at one point.. The Habour Belle.
The water depth inland is not all that great for a decent sized boat adn the bay can get a little choppy.

I'm aware of the Harbour Belle, I was just saying that another exclusively for Castaway Bay guests would be a nice perk. I wasn't sure if it was possible with logistics and land features though.
