Breakers Hotel Experience...

My friends had just returned from the Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point and said it was a load of crap! I was very surprised! I thought the Breakers was very nice! Even though I have not stayed there in 2 years! They said it was dark, dreary, dirty, had stains on the bed, and the air conditioner was broken! Very surprised on this! Has anyone else stayed there lately? Is it as bad as they said it was or are they just really picky? I really want to know if it is as bad as they said it was...

All I know is that it is very expensive and not any better than any other average Comfort Inn

alot of people make stuff up about a place if one thing went wrong that they didnt like. if this all is true from what your friends have said then it wouldnt get very much business. i have been to it and its very nice. never belive what a person says about a place unless you check it out yourself. they must be picky cause it may of been alot of money to them to stay and want to keep people away.

They may have stayed in one of the old rooms, in the wing down by the Putt Putt coarse and Magnum. We stayed in one of those rooms last year for nostalgia reasons, it was always a family tradition every year when I was a kid. They have not changed much since the 60's. They are dark, damp, and musty rooms that are smaller than I remembered and now they have bathrooms which makes them even smaller. I have heard roomers that the old wing will be taken down to make room for another tower section.

I have stayed at the hotel breakers every year. My

room has always been in the main section off the

rotunda. The room has always been neat and clean.

The air conditioner always worked. Having a lake view

room is great. Everything you need is right there. I

have nothing bad to say about any of the cp resorts.

We usually stay at the Lighthouse Point section of Camper Village, but due to camper troubles, we stayed at Breakers opening weekend 05 and everything was very nice. No not brand new, but very clean and nice. However, we missed the sights and sounds of the park that we can see and hear when in our camper. It felt like we missed out on something. If you don't have a camper, I would recommend the Lighthouse Point cottages. The next best way to experience the point, I think. ENJOY!!!

Our room was very nice and had an even nicer view of MF and TTD right out my window :)

I have stayed in the new sections three times, and our room has always been great. I have heard some bad things about the bon air section. Really its all about location three pools and the beach, which are very nice to help you wind down after the park closes since they are open till 12am.

When I was there I stayed in the older section (close to the entrance at Magnum). It was about $200 a night. The decor was dated and the room was a little on the small side, but it was very clean and comfortable. I feel that the price for the room itself was a little high, but comparable to room prices at the shore in NJ and MD. After all, it's all about location. I was happy with the hotel and would stay there again.

I was very pleased with the lake beach. It was almost like a real beach (except that east coast beaches would never let you sit in a chair for free :-P )! Are all lake beaches like that, or does CP bring in sand to make it bigger?

It's always time for a Cedar Point road trip!

Somewhere there's almost an entire thread disputing whether it's real or brought in...

I was there a back in the beginning of august and that was my worst eperience there. We arrived and there was gunk in the bathroom sink and the mini kitchen arae sink which was also broken. So downstars they tried to switch our room but we had to move back because they tried to shove us in some little corner of a room on the first floor they claimed to be a lakeveiw suite. but all i saw was the wall surruonding the pool and side of the hotel. Since that was not what we paid 300 bucks a night to stay in we moved back to the old room where house keeping spent much of the night cleaning.

I was so upset after wanting to relax at my favorite place in the world after a 5 hour drive, but for some reason this year the hotel wasnt doing to shabby.

I heard a rumor that the older section of Hotel Breakers is sinking.....

Now that is true.

We stay in the old section every year and we have a nice but tiny view of Magnum. I love staying there and would recommend it to anyone.

I would love to try out LHP but we simply don't have that kind of money.

My mom gave me the choice last month between Breakers and Sandcastle (LHP was all booked up). I chose Sandcastle. We got a lake and pool view suite and it was nice. Next time though, I really want to experience Breakers.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Having just returned from a three-night stay at the Breakers with my family, I had absolutely no problems with the accomodations or our treatment by any of the staff. We had a Lakeview suite in the Tower and would absolutely do it again, the convenience of being just a short walk from the Magnum entrance gate was worth the expense.

One thing to remember is that the weather over the past week has been absolutely horrible, dampening even my enthusiasm for Cedarpoint (though not as much as my brother who hasn 't been there since Mean Streak was new!)

As a Housekeeping Supervisor in Breakers and having lived in breakers as an employee I can tell you that the rooms in the tower and in the far east section are the best rooms to stay in. The older rooms in what is called the Bon Air section wich is over near Challenge Golf are run down and there has been talk about taking them down and putting up another tower; however they have been saying that for a few years now. The sction is NOT sinking but it is haunted as many of the Breakers staff, espically housekeeping can tell you.

Lighthouse Point is the best way to stay! :)

My husband and I stayed in the Bon Air section years ago in 1978 (before Breakers East) and I agree the rooms even then were very small and dark. Unless they've been seriously updated in the last 30 years, I can see this kind of reaction. For the price, you can certainly have a much nicer room elsewhere.

I've never stayed in Breakers East, but we've stayed in Sandcastle many times and Breakers Express a few times. My sis-in-law always gets a place at LHP and those are also very nice.

Luckily, I only live 2 hours away and am a season pass holder. Also, being a member of AARP means I can get a really nice room off point for much less than it would cost to stay in Bon Air. It's certainly not as convenient as being on-point, but I'm rather picky about my hotel rooms.
