Thank goodness Holiday World didn't have an unexpected tragedy occur before their steel showed up....
It's not only "not entirely the same situation," it's a completely different situation.
Yes, the unexpected tragedy is why the actual announcement will not coincide with the first deliveries, but I'm really not sure how that's relevant. They respectfully altered the original plans; said plans are all that I was discussing.
The announcement was supposed to be today.
Track is en route today.
Holiday World had track arriving so they made an announcement just beforehand. It seems that Cedar Point had set up a similar plan.
Do you disagree that there is a strong chance this was intentional?
I thought they were going to remove Magnum XL-200 to stop it from sinking and set it up on the more stable grounds of Michigan's Adventure.

Perplexed as to how Holiday World's announcement going off as planned and Cedar Point's being delayed for obvious reasons are "not entirely the same situation."
Someone died at Cedar Point. "...not entirely the same situation..." seems to make the two events equivalent save for a few small differences.
I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

Did you not read the next sentence?
I am not discussing the delay.
The delay was not part of my discussion.
It was only mentioned as a side-note as it is additional info related to the discussion, but not a key part.
CP and HW both planned announcements for new coasters around the time that steel started to arrive.
That is what I said in the first place.
Those are similar situations.
That is what was planned.
The fatal incident with Raptor was tragic indeed.
That's not part of the plans.
Please stop arguing at people who do not disagree with what you are saying.
Especially after they routed the new track sections from near Kings Island, all the way to 75 and the Turnpike near Toledo, just to get them back to Kings Island!
Exactly it's so smart to take track all the way up to Turnpike from Cincinnati and take them to Kings Island 30 minutes north of Cincinnati! Such a great idea!
Hey I am not sure how to look this up, but I know many of you on here do. Has Cedar point or Cedar Fair pulled any other trademarks yesterday or today?
The only as-yet unused trademark registered to Cedar Point is Valravn.
Interestingly enough, Centurion is still registered to Cedar Fair (USPTO lists it as "Live"). Cedar Fair also has "Backyard Ball" as of last October.
I noticed that the other day. I'm willing to bet "Backyard Ball" is for the sports complex where Griffing Airport is.

Yeah, I was curious as to when that airport became defunt, because on my last visit I just noticed it. Any plans for it?
It closed around last year. I'm pretty sure they moved it to Huron or somewhere.

The only thing I really know is that Cedar Fair bought the land when it was sold, and according to the Sandusky Register, they contributed $3.5million for the project to happen.

Now take this information with a grain of salt since we all know how the Register has been reporting as of late.
Still bummed about the demise of the airport. It
was so convenient to fly in there and take the shuttle to the point. Plus, you could shoot over to put in bay in 10 minutes. It would be nice if someone reinstated the ferry route from the CP marina to PIB that the Island Rocket used to operate years ago.
At least something will happen with the property that will continue to provide tourism in the area. Glad Cedar Point wants to contribute to the community as well.
It would be nice if a new ferry route was established from the former airport property to the park if the proposed sports complex is built.
