Best Food in the Park

Chuck Wagon's avatar

The Breakwater Cafe next to Sandcastle Suites and Camper Village also serves a wonderful breakfast.

I'm convinced there really isn't a good breakfast served at the park. Breakwater is good if you like buffet scrambled eggs, but personally I'd rather go hungry.

Donut Time probably serves the best "fresh" breakfast foods, but I wouldn't classify suger fatty foods the same as eggs and sausage (even though both are bad for you). Where's a Cracker Barrel when you need one?

For walk up food, Los Gatos, the tacos and Macho Nacho.

Next door at the Engine House they have a good frozen parfait of soft serve and slush. I don't remember the name.

The fries at Happy Friar, Hot Potato and Mr. Potato.

For sit down Midway Market, all you can eat buffet, drinks included. Relatively fast.

Famous Dave's is good for a more leisurely meal.

Unfortunately The Cracker Barrel is on 250 and not Cedar Point dr.

Witches Wheel has a 54 inch height requirement, I don't care if your child rode Dragster, Magnum or, Millenium, they are not tall enough for this one!

Save The Big Dipper!

I found Coasters to have some pretty good hamburgers, but the line is so backed up when it's served it's always cold. The fries there are pretty good.

Also the fries are good by the Gemini, but I try to stay away from all the high fat/high cholesterol foods.

Best thing to do is to bring your food with you and sit in your car and eat, I've saved tons of money doing that last year, it also gives me a nice break from all the noise at the park.

I went to Subway in the park last year and they were WAY overpriced and they didn't even put many extra veggies on it. I'll never waste my money there again.

Am I the only one here who thinks Cracker Barrel serves overrated, very ordinary food, in a unappealing barn like setting? I went there once and have no desire to ever go back again.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Personally I like Johnny Rockets, the hamburgers are great! Although I don't have a lot of time to get to many of the restaurants, I would like to try the new one's in Hotel Breakers. Midway Market is another of my favorites too, the buffet is EXCELLENT.

I'll second that Pete. I'll add "so much grease it cleans you straight out too." Sometimes you just don't want that.

Just your usual come and go poster. One week I am here, then I disappear for a while.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll hit some of these places when I go to CP. Famous Daves sounds good, I loved it when I went to the North Olmsted location. I always forget that their is one at Cp. Can you get to it by the Goodtime exit and do they have the sampler appitizer?

And to all the posters that said that I was crazy for purchasing park: I would like to say that I will be eating in my car often but I also would like to try some of the park food once in awile. Does anyone know if there is a chicken place around cp(KFC or Mr. Chicken)?

Cracker Barrel breakfast rates only slightly above Bob Evans in my book. The food is "okay", but it is really overpriced. $10 for eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast and coffee or pancakes, eggs and coffee???? The only time I eat there is when I'm driving into Sandusky early in the morning because I know that I can trust Cracker Barrel to at least be clean and somewhat decent in comparison to the greasy competition, Steak and Shake and the place commonly referred to as "Dirty D's" down the street.

That being said, I really wish Sandusky had a Waffle House or even an IHOP.

As for pointperson's comment about the chicken, there is a KFC on Perkins Ave and a Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken on US250.

I'm not a big fried chicken fan, but I really wish that Cedar Point would take advantage of something that sells really well at one of our sister parks. That something would be Mrs. Knott's Famous Chicken Dinners. While my personal opinions do not reflect the opinion of Cedar Fair Entertainment Company or any of its affiliates or subsidiaries and all that legal jargon, I have always thought that a Mrs. Knott's Chicken would fit in very well where Midway Market is or maybe as a replacement for the Coral Dining Room or Joe Cool Cafe. It could easily become a tradition, similar to what Zendher's / Bavarian Inn chicken is in Frankenmuth and Mrs. Knott's out near Knott's Berry Farm. It could be one of those places that your family just has to visit at least once during your visit to Cedar Point.

I'm with Adam on this one. Panda Express is pretty solid. I also go to Coasters for their burger due to the platinum pass discount. But the food there isn't that great. Pretty basic burger & fries.

I'm pretty sure Famous Dave's has the Sampler. As for Fried Chicken, there is A KFC on Perkins Ave. BP / Marco's Pizza side of 250 heading towards Rt 4. There is a Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken on 250 which is not bad. The founder is a nephew of Colonal Sanders, and they feature similar items.

Jory, You read my mind man. I would be eating them every day instead of Uncrustables. I can not eat that greasy crap. Ill be in the bathroom all day. I usually bring my lunch or eat a boxed lunch, but they get old....

ok since no one has said it yet ill let you know on a fact,

fact the perkins ave taco bell is miles above the one on 250. please working at cedar point my first couple weeks I noticed the taco bell on 250 is horrible. If you want to wait 35 minutes for a misplaced and sub par taco bell order go ahead. Im with jugga tear down midway market.

Oh and yea the cheese on a stick by space spiral is very good and the mini corn dogs at the happy friar by gemini. As far as sit down I would highly recommend the Famous Daves. I usually get the BBQ burger which is a nice sized burger with pulled pork and bacon on top and its only 8.95 and comes with two sides and cornbread. I have never left famous daves hungry.

I agree the Taco Bell ("Taco Fish")on 250 is ****ty, service wise. I go to the one on Perkins it is better.

"Perkins Avenue the getway for food" maybe I shouldn't have said that. Now I'll go TB this summer and kick myself in the ass when it is packed.

Others on here and people I've worked with the past two summers all agree that the first person to open a Waffle House on 250 will be rich in no time.

In all seriousness, though, there were so many times last summer where I was craving IHOP. I had to settle for Bob Evans, which isn't bad, but man, I would have loved IHOP. I am also a fan of Waffle House as well, though, so either one would be more than welcome by me!

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Those of us here in Eastern Ohio and parts of PA that work at Cedar Point wishes Sandusky would get a Sheetz gas station with their Made To Order. Their kitchen is open 24/7 and would make a killing on the employees alone after hours.

FSAlex - You got a great idea there. Mrs. Knotts chicken dinner is good eatin'. The restaurant at Knotts Berry Farm in CA (a CF park) is often packed. When I lived our there, and we would take our daughter to the park, Mrs. Knotts was always our choice for dinner. The theme would fit well in Frontier Town. Now pardon me while I wipe the drool off my chin.
