Average pay

i dunno maybe i'm thinking about this weird but i don't think the pay once u take the bonus into it is that bad considering you have the things like the housing and all at reasonable prices cos i know before when i've gone away places to work for the summer things like rent and all make big dents in pay checks so my guess is it all pretty much evens out at the end of the day - plus id say you get more hours (or the option of more hours) that you wouldn't elsewhere - plus its something different as well and its all an experience!

ok well anyway thats just what i was thinking!

helen

thank you for not complaining Helen. It really is not a bad deal, you can work as many hours as you want. (We can always pick up for people) The housing and food are cheap. I can't complain.

I don't want to complain about the pay at CP but it is a little low. That isn't stopping me from working there, because I know I'll make some money this summer. They haven't raised their pay in three or four years, maybe longer. It would be nice if the starting pay for rides was $7/hour but that isn't gonna happen anytime soon. It isn't a bad deal like emtnate said, but it could be better, then again, lots of things could be better.

Compared to other amusement parks CP pays pretty well. Plus when you add up all the hours, you end up getting a pretty nice paycheck. I've yet to find another summer job that pays nearly as much.

Yeah, it could be worse. You could be serving up fries at a Mickey D's all summer. Plus, you get the added bonus of getting in free to the park. That's almost a $100 bonus right there, if you consider it at the season pass rate.

Are you sure this isn't the Atlantic Ocean?

GO TIGERS!

ugh the dreaded mcdonalds reference. It's played out people.

If there is one thing I would have to complain about it would of had to be the pay. But, I am also terrible with managing money. Before I left for CP, I have always been a server I was used to having cash everyday...and having to manage a weekly paycheck was a problem for me. Sometimes my paycheck was like what I made in 2 or less days as a server. But, i knew I was in for a pay cut....I have to say, I brought It on myself..I rarely took extra hours, except for 2 months in the summer when I was trying to pay off my underage fine.

Also, the deductions from check sucked. Housing, wardrobe, health clinic...ECK...I really should managedd my cash better...

Anyway, it's just a summer job...and for all the fun you have the pay is well worth it. Also, that nice bonus at the end of the season is way worth it.

How much is it? The bonus.

60 hours a week with no overtime pay...
$375.00
60 hours a week with overtime pay after 40 hours...
$437.50

Ohio law regarding seasonal labor is superceded by the federal law due to the Interstate Commerce Clause. (Since Cedar Point has phones, accepts credit cards, ships and receives outside of Ohio) However as pointed out, the federal law provides exceptions to minimum wages. No employees of Cedar Point in Ohio are required to receive overtime pay, whether they are Seasonal Employees or Full Time employees. Any exceptions to this were negotiated by Labor Unions or paid at will by Cedar Point. The fact that Cedar Point Seasonals do not receive overtime has NOTHING to do with the fact that they are seasonals, it has EVERYTHING to do with the seasonal nature of the park.

Symantics, I know.

The bonus depends on how many hours you work thru the season...Like if you work 1400 hours...then your bonus is $1400 (before taxes ofcourse)

Still only 6.25? I work at a restaurant and make 6.50. Oh well...I still really want to work there.

Well as long as you stay throughout the whole summer and fulfill your contract you get a $1 bonus for every hour you worked.. so it's really $7.25, you just don't get it all at once..

Oh..well that is alot of money. That bonus check at the end of the summer sounds awesome. An extra dollar per hour doesn't seem like that much, but if you think about it, it really adds up.
