I agree that it is difficult to enforce a no smoking ban. If enforcement can't be handled then perhaps it should be rolled on a limited basis? How they would be accomplished I have no idea.
Sometimes people are just plain rude! e.g. smokers who defy the smoking ban, people sitting on the HANDrails (see observation #6 in my original post), people that stick gum on the walls or wherever they please, people littering when they are garbage cans every two feet...
I'm not sure how sitting on the hand rails is rude, I have seen ops yell at people to get off the rails, but I wouldn't call it rude.

Ya, as long as the person isn't rude to the employee asking them to get off, i hardly consider it rude. Plus, some people just cannot take the heat as well as others, and that little chance to get off of your feet could really help them.
I admit I'm a bit guilty of sitting on the handrails. But it's only because I literally don't sit down at Cedar Point unless I'm on a ride. I get one chance to be in the park (maybe two) per year, and I make the most of it. So later in the day, my legs get VERY tired from standing since about 9:30 that morning and walking for miles. If resting your legs for a minute or two at a time is rude, then I guess I'm just a pompous jerk.

If its any consolation I'd think you're a pompous jerk even if you didn't rest your legs by sitting on the rails. ;)

When I was at Cedar Point in July, people were sitting on the handrails on MF and the DJ told everyone to not do that and then later in line for Maverick in the que house people were sitting on handrails and employees came down and told them not too. They're good at enforcing that.

Agreed. Unless I'm on the other side of the rail and forced to look at a couple inches of butt crack. That *is* rude. :-)
As for the smoking thing, I don't think it's a bad idea, I just wish there were a couple more areas. As it is now, there are 2 close together (Wicked Twister & Raptor) and then nothing between the boat entrance & Panda Express. *** Edited 8/9/2007 6:08:42 PM UTC by Heather75***
When I went in mid-late July there was a smoker near where TTD's entrance is. One of the employees told him to stop and he refused. They then called security and he wrote the guy a ticket.
I couldn't believe they enforced the rule that well. I was surprised and pleased.

I agree with Heather, I don't want to have to see, or possibly bump into, someone's large can when I walk in line by because they need to sit on the railing. That is why it's rude, well that and the fact that they are told not to and simply decide to do it anyway.
One more thing, I thought swimwear needed to be sufficiently covered. There were several walking around in only bikini tops. Not that I minded looking at most of them. ;-)

You are not supposed to drive into the big wad of cars and get stuck. You drive to end of the ride with no cars, get a running start, nail someone, drive away and repeat process. The best is when someone with their back to you gets hit then they back up a little bit from the collision then you nail them for a good whiplash effect.
But if most of the peeps didn't create a middle pile of gridlock, we couldn't drive to where no cars are to get the running start to nail them ;)

I also sit on the hand rails. Though I am polite about it and only do it where there is nobody on the other side of the rail. I do get really sick if its hot out and I need a place to sit down. Also if its 10:35 PM and Im waiting in line and its been along day you have to sit down cuz you feel like your legs are going to snap.

Let's Get Weird.
I've noticed the same things. The Cadillac Cars really set me over the edge last Friday. On a hot, humid day that I spent with my niece and nephew, there was bound to be something that set me off. It was those cars. It was supposed to be a quick ride to do with my nephew while my mom took my niece on Mine Ride. The line really wasn't long. I'd say 1 and 1/2 lengths of the rail. I figured 10-15 minutes. Nope. I stood there about 35 minutes, due to a slower than normal crew and the fact that no family seemed to all ride together. It seemed like every car that went out did so with just one person. I know kids want to drive themselves, but the crew should compensate and try to move faster. It was just a very frustrating way to end the day, as I stand there watching everybody else on Skyhawk (my favorite flat). Then we get up there and he wasn't tall enough to drive, which is why he wanted to go on them....
I wouldn't call sitting on the handrails rude as much annoying, especially when they sit so that they spill over into the space behind them as well, or don't get up when the line moves. I know that moving right away will not make the line move faster, there's still the same amount of people there, it's just nice to keep it moving. The only time I really sit on the rails is by the end of the day or if the ride breaks down or goes down for weather rand we decide to wait it out, even then I usually park it on the cement. It's not all that comfortable to sit on them anyway.
I lean against the rails but I don't sit on the rails.

How about smoking POT. I was leaving the park with my girlfriend on July 29th at the end of the day around 10:00 PM. On a bench outside the front entrance very close to the vehicles was some "trailer park looking kid" smoking pot as swarms of people left the park (closing time). He had a joint, and while I am a liberal who sees differently on the subject, I have to say that it was totally unacceptable to be doing it.
I caught him smoking it, but to the common person you didn't see him do it because he was so sneaky. Quick puff and hide in his hand style.
Just not around the kids..............like someone said...wait till the car.
I sit on them hand rails so much I want to bring a cushion.
And yes...what is with people wearing denim jeans, hoodies, long sleeve shirts, and etc in July.....82-85 degree weather, and 60% humidity or higher. I bring a sweat rag in with me haha.
Heres how you enforce the no smoking rule. You have security guards who avidly walk the park, the park queues. Walk walk walk...don't stop.
The police have basically (2) rules to enforce daily as I am sure the crowd really is not that rowdy. I certainly don't think of fighting at a park....
The police have no smoking, and the no sitting on hand rails to enforce. Other then that they should just keep a watchful eye for mischief / trouble / confusion / lost children.
I've never seen anyone have the guts to cut in line. *** Edited 8/12/2007 9:44:31 PM UTC by factory81***
