OH god dont get me started about Ka's problems compared to Dragsters!;)
And no I'm not worried. With the time they have for testing, I have confidence that they'll get it worked out by opening day or rather media day.

Intamin has never over promised and under delivered. They never have any breakdowns and are the easiest coasters to maintain. I am not worried one bit. :D
Correct me if I am wrong, but, isn't California Screamin at DCA about the same type of lift hill? If so, how is the reliablity of that ride?
There are 2 types of computer users in the world; those that back up often, and those that have never had a hard drive fail.

Does anyone have an on ride video of Steel Dragon 2000? P.S I couldnt find it at coasterbuzz. I thought it would be neat to see which is better MF or SD.

First of all, no coaster is perfect, every ride has experienced down time, so obviously Maverick will. I doubt it will be frequently, but i think there will be some sort of problem within the first couple of months wich is not uncommon.
Maverick may not be the latest ride of its kind, but it is one of the few rides of its kind, so it wont seem that shocking to me if we see it down for a few days or so in its opening season.
I realize this is a bit off-topic, but does anyone have any idea how rain will affect the ride's operation? Anyone know whether other un-covered LSM rides remain open in the rain. Just curious...

I'm not positive about this, but I know California Screamin' at DCA uses LSM and they use water to cool them down between launches, the launch track is also placed in a lake. So obviously they can get wet and run.

Yeah, I kind of figured it probably wouldn't be a big deal...

Well, the TTD doesn't close in the rain because it's a hydraulic coaster, but rather because of the fact that the average person would complain about being hit by rain at that speed.

I meant coaster in general, not necessarily the hydraulics (though I guess I didnt really make that clear:P)......and havnt we said that it's also because of the drive wheels getting wet and slipping on the underside of the trains......or am I crazy?

I suppose, but they kept it running for us through the rain during Season Passholder's TTD ERT this summer. I think it's more that they close it due to rain and then open it, the drive wheels are wet. If you continue with operation, they don't get quite as wet, and thus, it isn't as much a problem.

Yeah, I was there that day it started raining. I was kind of confused too. I mean it started raining (kind of hard but not too hard) and I said to myself "Oh it's down for the night for sure." Then as we were leaving it was launching full trains and I was like "wtf!". It sure surprised me! Then all the way home I was trying to figure out why and I thought about the keeping the drive wheels relatively dry by running it....not to mention why I wasnt able to take part in the ERT (my friend needed to be home by a certian time)>:-(
I dont think we'll have to worry about rain downtime with Maverick however. Or at least not light rain.

No prob's other then being pelted with rain drops ;)
And yes I would expect some issues with this rides system.
My best wishes for the first year ride op's.
LSM are very computer controlled! And with multi segment I would and will expect mis fires, tons of error codes due to sensors, over and under shoots, etc.
One question I had wondered? The launch track under station? Will the train come to a complete stop, or will it just accelerate in the tunnel without stopping?
If the trains stops less work on the system and a much more simple program. If it is already moving the systems has to detect speed, possible weight (which could be calculated by current draw with the slight uphill climb) at current to its max velocity. Not to mention all the other duties of block monitoring, etc. "errors"
Volcano anyone ?. Not that for those of use who have gotten to experience a roll back from the second booster set not firing don’t appreciate it, but wondering?
Cheers!
