Anybody Woried?

I was wondering, is anyone else worried that Maverick will have lots of issues? I mean launching coasters always seem to have a lot of issues, like with the launching part. I hope we have no troubles but you never know!

Nope, not me. They'll have quite a while to test so I think they'll have most of the bugs and kinks worked out by opening. Sure, they'll have to stop full testing during tunnel construction and other theming, but I think there's a lot of opportunity for this to go really smoothly.

It's an Intamin so of course a few problems will arise. It won't have the reliability of Raptor and Mantis, but I'm guessing it won't be as bad as TTD (:edited:) WAS. *** Edited 9/14/2006 11:55:34 PM UTC by Gomez***

^^ Defintaely off-topic, and it's probably nothing too strange... routine maintenence, I would guess.

^^ I can agree with that. I'm sure we'll see some downtime during the first month or so as bugs are worked out and the crew gets used to the ride. It should be running fine by the start of the summer vacation season though.

All rides have problems at some point, Maverick will be no different.

Or will it...? ;)

Let's not judge anything until they atleast do a test run...

I'm just quoting what I heard in line for SkyHawk this year.

"It wouldn't be the new ride at Cedar Point without it breaking down all the time!"

Worried?

No. There's plenty of other stuff to do. If it goes down a lot, then it goes down a lot. Cedar Point will work it out. All will be fine.

As I was saying though, don't launch coasters have lots of issues?

I think the LIM or LSM launches seem to have a lot less issues than the hydraulic launches.

See also: Superman The Escape.

Built and "supposed" to open in 1996.

Opened in 1997.

LSM is pretty complicated.

If Superman uses LSM's and it is so loud, will Maverick be loud? Or does it have to do with the gigantic heavy trains on Superman?

I'd hope they would have the major kinks in the system worked out since Superman though. Granted it's a lot more complicated than LIMs, but they've had a while to get a lot of issues hammered out.

Hey I know this is off topic, but is anyone here aloud to take pics and stuff of the construction while the park is closed. Cause like i was thinking about someone shooting a video of the ride testing when it is built before the season starts. I hope someone will do that.

Maybe I just have a really bad memory, but I don't remember any coaster ever being down as I grew up. Granted, I got stuck on the lift hill of Magnum the second year it was open and had to walk down, but I never remember coasters being closed for entire days. Maybe it was the introduction of the Intamin triplets or exposure from the internet, but CP has never had a reputation of being a park that had downtime (in my mind.)

Six Flags on the other hand... :)

^ - I agree with you Tim. I don't remember rides having this kind of downtime when I was a kid. Of course, without the internet, I probably wouldn't have known TTD had the problems it did (which appear to finally be passed).

^^ - Not without permission from the park. Don't be surprised to see Walt get some off season construction stuff though. He's done it before.

First off, I think Maverick will be very reliable after they get it all tested out. There will be very few moving parts on this ride to break. And the moving parts that are there are well tested and have a performance history.

Second, CP doesn't want another TTD. I'm sure when they were dealing with Intaride, they made it perfectly clear they were expecting a very reliable coaster from the transaction. I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't contractual penalties if the ride doesn't perform to a certain level.

Third, this ride isn't the first of it's kind. It always kills to be on the "bleeding edge". You pay the penalty for being the first and pay much of the R&D costs, only for someone to copy you.

Does anyone know how King Da Ka has performed since opening? I'm guessing significantly better than TTD since they should have been able to work out many kinks. BTW, the History Channel special they did on that ride made me very angry. They built that ride like it was the most ground breaking venture ever.

Kingda Ka has a significantly WORSE track record when comapred to TTD. Not only thatm but if you are at SFGA and there is a rollback, they will just tell you to get out of line and close it down for the day (you cant "hang around" the area like you can at CP). Of course, these are more SF issues than the ride. But, you also have to consider that the launch on Kingda Ka is not the same as TTD, as it is in "spurts" instead of one big launch at the beginning.
